Sale (shoulder) will throw his first bullpen session Tuesday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

This will mark his first time throwing off a mound since he got injured June 1. Sale has been throwing off flat ground every other day and is tracking toward a possible return in early August.

Whitlock (elbow) hasn't yet resumed throwing, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Whitlock landed on the injured list July 4 with a bone bruise in his right elbow. He's slated for bullpen sessions Monday and Tuesday, after which a clearer picture regarding his return timeline should emerge.

Allen is expected to be called up from Triple-A Columbus to start Tuesday against the Pirates, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

With Shane Bieber (forearm) likely joining Cal Quantrill and Triston McKenzie on the injured list, Allen should have a secure rotation spot for the foreseeable future. The young southpaw had a 4.76 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 20 strikeouts in 22.2 innings over his five most recent MLB starts.

Bieber is getting an MRI on his forearm and will not make a start this turn through the rotation, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

This is ominous news, as Bieber had been tentatively scheduled to start Monday but can now be considered out indefinitely. Manager Terry Francona said Bieber's forearm has been irritable the last few weeks and he has struggled to bounce back from his last three or four starts, which is why his pitch count has been lower. Logan Allen will start Tuesday in Pittsburgh and the plan is to do a bullpen game Monday.

Ragans will be called up from Triple-A Omaha to start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays.

Ragans holds a 4.19 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through five starts in Triple-A, and Saturday will mark his first start in the majors this season. He made 17 appearances out of the bullpen with Texas, putting up a 5.92 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 24.1 frames. Ragans has only made four appearances of two innings or more in the majors this season, so he'll likely be relieved relatively quickly Saturday.

Glasnow's next start will be pushed back to Saturday after Friday's game between the Rays and Royals was postponed due to inclement weather, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader. Alec Marsh, who had been slated to oppose Glasnow on Friday, will also have his start pushed back a day. Over his last three starts before the All-Star break, Glasnow posted a 2.76 ERA and dominant 31:3 K:BB through 16.1 innings.

Ryu (elbow) will make a rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday with the goal of throwing around 65 pitches, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

According to Zwelling, Ryu is expected to make at least two starts for the Bisons before returning to the big leagues, and the team would like to see him up over 85 pitches in an outing before activating him. The veteran southpaw has been effective thus far in his two lower-level rehab starts, but his fastball was apparently topping out around 88 mph, which is down a couple ticks from where he was pre-injury. It sounds like he is tracking toward a late-July return to the Jays' rotation.

The White Sox reinstated Kopech (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Friday against Atlanta.

Kopech landed on the injured list July 2 due to shoulder inflammation after having his most recent turn in the rotation skipped prior to the All-Star break. Now that he's fully recovered from his injury, Kopech will start on the mound to begin Chicago's second half after putting up a 4.08 ERA and 1.36 WHIP through 86 innings across his first 16 starts.

Prielipp will undergo season-ending UCL surgery on his left elbow Monday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Whether Prielipp will require Tommy John surgery or something less invasive like an internal brace procedure won't be known until he's on the table. The left-hander already had Tommy John surgery in 2021 while in college at Alabama and had made two rehab starts recently -- his only two appearances thus far in pro ball -- before being shut down.

Wilcox has a 3.45 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 22 strikeouts in 15.2 innings over his last three starts for Double-A Montgomery.

He had a shaky stretch from April 28 through June 15 in which he had a 7.28 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over nine starts, but Wilcox has gotten back on track lately. The 6-foot-5 righty, who turned 24 on Friday, has built up to a career-high 66 innings after missing parts of 2021 and 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. In addition to bat-missing stuff in his mid-90s fastball and hard-biting slider, Wilcox excels at generating weak contact (55 percent groundball rate).
