  • Reese Olson SP | DET

Tigers' Reese Olson: Start vs. Atlanta postponed

Olson's scheduled start versus Atlanta on Tuesday was postponed due to inclement weather, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Olson was scheduled to square off against Spencer Strider, but the poor weather in Detroit won't allows that to happen Tuesday. The game will be made up Wednesday with the two teams playing a straight doubleheader, and it's likely both will be involved in one of the two contests.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Twins' Kenta Maeda: Another rehab start Friday

Maeda (triceps) is slated to make another rehab start Friday with Triple-A St. Paul, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

It will be his fourth rehab start, and possibly his final one. Out since late April due to a right triceps strain, Maeda has scattered two runs over nine innings so far with St. Paul. He's racked up 13 strikeouts against only one walk while working through some mechanical misalignments that stem back to his initial return from Tommy John surgery.

  • Jose Urquidy RP | CHW

Astros' Jose Urquidy: Nearing mound work

Urquidy (shoulder) said Tuesday that he thinks he could begin throwing off a mound by this weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Urquidy began throwing on flat ground a couple weeks ago and is almost ready to test things out from the bump. The veteran hurler is coming back from right shoulder inflammation, an injury which landed him on the IL at the beginning of May.

  • Cole Ragans RP | KC

Rangers' Cole Ragans: Sent out to Triple-A

Texas optioned Ragans to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Ragans yielded four runs -- three earned -- over just 1.2 innings of relief in Monday night's loss to the Angels. He carries a 5.92 ERA in 17 major-league appearances this year.

  • Tigers' Eduardo Rodriguez: Increasing throwing intensity

Rodriguez (finger) has been increasing the intensity of his flat-ground throwing sessions, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Working his way back from a ruptured A4 pulley in his left index finger, Rodriguez began a throwing program a week ago and has been ramping things up slowly but surely. He hasn't been cleared for mound work yet, but that would seem to be around the corner. The left-hander could rejoin the Tigers' rotation sometime around the beginning of July, although that's a rough timetable.

  • Alex Faedo SP | TB

Tigers' Alex Faedo: Resumes throwing program

Faedo (finger) resumed a throwing program Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

A week ago, Faedo underwent a procedure to remove a fingernail on the middle digit of his right hand. He did some plyometric exercises and light tossing Monday before progressing to playing catch Tuesday. The right-hander will continue to ramp things up and might need a short rehab assignment before rejoining the Tigers' rotation.

  • Tarik Skubal SP | LAD

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Rehabbing at Triple-A

Skubal's (elbow) rehab assignment was transferred to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Skubal made two appearances with High-A West Michigan, throwing five scoreless innings while striking out seven batters and yielding three hits. Skubal's next start will come on Thursday in Toledo, and he remains on track to return to Detroit before the end of June.

  • Marco Gonzales RP | TEX

Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Begins throwing program

Gonzales (forearm) will play catch for the third day in a row Tuesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

"Very light, like nothing, no tension," Gonzales said. "So I'm not really putting a timeline on it. I'm day by day, obviously. I just want to take this slow because I don't want this to be something that lingers for sure." Gonzales will take a break from catch Wednesday before determining the next step in his rehab. He's working his way back from a flexor strain and there is no timetable for his return.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Surgery goes as expected

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that the Tommy John surgery that deGrom (elbow) underwent Monday went well, the Associated Press reports.

Rangers team physician Dr. Keith Meister performed the reconstructive procedure on deGrom's UCL, marking the second time the soon-to-be 35-year-old has had Tommy John surgery after he first required the elbow operation in October 2010. Though no new ligament damage or inflammation was seemingly detected during Monday's surgery, deGrom will still face the typical 12-to-14-month recovery timeline and could struggle to return to elite form, given his advanced age along with the sketchy track record of pitchers who have had two Tommy John procedures. DeGrom likely won't be cleared to start a throwing program before the end of 2023 and probably shouldn't be expected to be ready to rejoin the Texas rotation until midsummer 2024 in a best-case scenario. He'll be heading into the second season of a five-year, $185 million deal in 2024.

  • Casey Mize SP | SD

Tigers' Casey Mize: Playing catch regularly

The Tigers announced Friday that Mize (elbow) has resumed playing catch four times per week, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Mize, who is working his way back from June 2022 Tommy John surgery as well as back surgery, had his rehab program shut down about three weeks ago after experiencing back discomfort. Fortunately, the setback wasn't a major one, as Mize resumed throwing a week later. He'll likely to gradually increase the distance of his throwing sessions before potentially advancing to mound work by the end of June. An August or September return from the 60-day injured list remains realistic for Mize, though it's unclear if he'll have sufficient time to build back up for a starting role.
