Cortes was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to June 5, with a left rotator cuff strain.

Cortes was diagnosed with the injury earlier this week and is going to be shut down from throwing for at least the next 13 days or so. The best-case scenario probably puts him back in the Yankees' rotation just before the All-Star break. Randy Vasquez will be up to make a spot start in the second half of Thursday's doubleheader against the White Sox, but New York won't need a dedicated fifth starter again until closer to the end of June.

Bibee (2-1) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over five innings against the Red Sox. He struck out two.

Bibee allowed one or fewer earned run for the fourth time this season and picked up his second win. The right-hander made his big-league debut at the end of April and has delivered a strong first impression, posting a 3.05 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 42:12 K:BB across eight appearances (44.1 innings). The Guardians' rotation recently got Aaron Civale and Triston McKenzie back, but Bibee has done enough to stick around long term, especially with Cal Quantrill (shoulder) moving to the injured list. Bibee's next start is scheduled for a three-game set in San Diego next week.

Crawford (1-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits over three innings against the Guardians. He struck out three and didn't issue a walk.

Crawford, who had been operating as a reliever since late April, got the spot start with Chris Sale (shoulder) moving to the injured list. As expected, the right-hander was limited to just 58 pitches (41 strikes), and he figures to stick in the rotation moving forward, but his workload will presumably remain restricted for another start or two while he gets stretched back out. Crawford's next outing is projected for a three-game homestand versus the Rockies.

Bassitt (7-4) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits over eight innings against the Astros. He struck out five and didn't issue a walk.

Bassitt completed a season-high eight innings and didn't issue a walk for a second straight game, posting 14 strikeouts during the stretch. Aside from two horrible outings, the right-hander has been sharp during his first season with the Blue Jays, recording a 1.69 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 65:24 K:BB across his other 11 starts (74.2 innings). Even when you include his bad nights, his overall numbers (3.29 ERA and 1.01 WHIP) are still very respectable. Bassitt will look to stay sharp during his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for the opener of a three-game set in Baltimore.

Glasnow will make his next start for the Rays on Friday against the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Glasnow had been on turn to pitch Thursday's series finale versus the Twins at Tropicana Field, but the Rays have instead elected to bring up Yonny Chirinos from Triple-A Durham to start that game. The Rays haven't suggested that Glasnow is dealing with an injury, so he's seemingly just being pushed back an extra day for rest purposes. The right-hander has posted a 3.72 ERA and 14:4 K:BB through 9.2 innings in his two starts since returning from the injured list in late May.

The Rays recalled Chirinos from Triple-A Durham, and he'll start Thursday's series finale against the Twins at Tropicana Field, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

With the Rays opting to push Tyler Glasnow back a day in the pitching schedule, Chirinos will fill the hole in the team's rotation. The right-hander has put up a 2.79 ERA over 29 innings with the big club this season, although the ERA has also come along with an 11:11 K:BB.

Lopez didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Rays, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out six.

The right-hander delivered his seventh quality start of the season in style, firing 63 of 92 pitches for strikes, but the Twins only managed three hits on the night and Lopez actually left the game in line for his fourth loss before his teammates eked a run across in the top of the ninth. It was a strong bounce-back effort after he gave up four or more runs in three of his prior four outings, and Lopez will take a 4.25 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 92:22 K:BB through 78.1 innings into his next start, likely to come at home early next week against the Brewers.

Lyles (0-10) took the loss Wednesday as the Royals fell 6-1 to the Marlins, coughing up five runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out two.

The veteran right-hander gave the Kansas City bullpen a bit of a breather, but that's about the only silver lining to take away from this performance. Lyles tossed 56 of 85 pitches for strikes while becoming the first pitcher in the league to reach 10 losses -- no one else has more than seven -- and he also leads the majors with 18 homers allowed. He'll carry a 6.84 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 55:25 K:BB through 73.2 innings into his next start, likely to come at home early next week against the Reds.

Kremer (6-3) took the loss against Milwaukee on Wednesday, allowing six runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out five batters over five innings.

Kremer had been pitching well coming into the contest, posting a 2.55 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 35.1 innings over his previous six starts. He couldn't maintain that momentum against Milwaukee, surrendering a season-high six runs and lasting just five frames. Kremer's next start is tentatively scheduled to come at home against Toronto.

Gray (6-2) took the loss Wednesday despite allowing just one run on four hits while striking out 12 over nine innings versus the Cardinals.

Gray made it six straight starts without allowing more than one run, but the Rangers' bats had a rare off night. He was able to throw the complete game on just 100 pitches (76 strikes) in a dominant outing spoiled only by Alec Burleson's eighth-inning solo home run. Gray now has a 2.32 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 63:20 K:BB through 73.2 innings this season. This was just the second complete game of his career. He's projected for a home start versus the Angels next week.
