Gonzales is starting Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.

It was unclear who would get the ball for the final game of the regular season, but the Mariners will save Logan Gilbert for the playoffs. Gonzales has a 4.91 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 18 strikeouts in 29.1 innings over his last five starts.

Rasmussen will not make his scheduled start Wednesday in Boston as the Rays look to line him up for the postseason, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

This makes sense from the team's perspective. Rasmussen had a 2.40 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in 63.2 innings over his final 11 appearances. It's unclear who will make the spot start Wednesday.

Allard was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and joined the Rangers as the team's 29th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

Allard has thrown 17 innings of relief at the big-league level this season, struggling to an 8.47 ERA. He's been better in 20 starts for Triple-A Round Rock, but his 4.65 ERA at that level isn't impressive, either. The Rangers haven't named a starter for the nightcap, so that job could go to Allard if he isn't needed in relief in the afternoon game.

Boyd fired three scoreless relief innings during which he allowed one walk and recorded five strikeouts in a loss to the Tigers on Monday.

The left-hander bedeviled his former club with a sharp performance in which he recorded first-pitch strikes to all 10 batters he faced and rang up 11 swings and misses overall. Boyd's body of work since making his Sept. 1 debut has to give manager Scott Servais some peace of mind heading into the postseason, as the one-time starter, who can cover multiple innings when necessary, now boasts a 2-0 record, 1.35 ERA and 0.98 WHIP across 10 appearances.

Kremer (8-7) took the loss Monday as the Orioles were downed 5-1 by the Blue Jays, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander barely qualified for his eighth quality start of the year. He wasn't hit all that hard aside from a third-inning solo shot by Vladimir Guerrero. Kremer wraps up a breakout season with a 3.23 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 87:34 K:BB through 125.1 innings, and he should head into 2023 locked into a rotation spot for Baltimore.

Berrios (12-7) picked up the win in Monday's 5-1 victory over the Orioles, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out five.

The right-hander wasn't exactly sharp, tossing 58 of 91 pitches for strikes, but Berrios did what he needed to do to end the regular season with a win. The quality start was his 17th of the year, and he'll take a bit of momentum into the playoffs after an erratic campaign that left him with a 5.23 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 149:45 K:BB through 172 innings.

Flexen is scheduled to start the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Tigers, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Flexen was initially in line to take the hill for Game 2, but the Mariners will instead treat the nightcap as a bullpen day and have the right-hander take the hill for the early game. Since he hasn't covered more than two innings in any appearance since the beginning of September, Flexen may not be asked to work especially deep into his start Tuesday.

Sandoval allowed five hits and one walk with six strikeouts over six scoreless innings in Monday's extra-inning loss versus the Athletics. He did not factor into the decision.

After failing to record a quality start in any of his previous four starts entering Monday, Sandoval turned in one of the better starts of the season. He allowed one or fewer walks for just the seventh time. He finishes the 2022 campaign with a 2.91 ERA in 148.2 innings.

Kirby (8-5) took the loss against Detroit on Monday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five batters over four innings.

This looked like a promising final regular-season outing for Kirby on paper, but he allowed constant traffic on the basepaths and labored with 93 pitches over four frames. Detroit tallied three runs -- two of which came on a Javier Baez homer, the first long ball Kirby has yielded in his past 14 starts -- over his final two innings to send the rookie right-hander to his fifth loss of the campaign. Kirby nonetheless put together a fine first big-league campaign, notching eight wins and posting a 3.39 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 133:22 K:BB over 130 innings. He also tossed 26.2 innings in the minors, and the sizeable workload may have contributed to a drop in velocity in his final start, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Kirby is expected to work out of the bullpen in Seattle's upcoming wild-card series, though he could retain a starting role if the Mariners advance to the ALDS.

Garcia (2-0) earned the win over the Mariners on Monday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six batters over 6.2 innings.

Garcia was called up earlier in the day to make his first major-league start since Aug. 15. He allowed a run in the first frame but bounced back by keeping Seattle off the scoreboard over the next three innings. The right-hander yielded another run in the fifth and departed with two outs in the seventh, after which one more run was posted to his final line. Garcia finished with a season-best six punchouts and his second quality start of the campaign. This was his first season working as a starter in the majors, and he finished with a respectable 3.54 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 17:10 K:BB over 20.1 innings.
