Seabold allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out two batters over two innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Monday.

Seabold's outing got off to an ominous start when Cedric Mullins opened the contest with a solo home run against him, and the rookie right-hander gave up four more runs in the second inning, though one was unearned. It was perhaps merciful, then, that a nearly two-hour rain delay interrupted the contest and resulted in Seabold's removal. With the poor outing, Seabold's ERA shot up to 11.29 on the season, and he's given up four or more earned runs in four of his five starts while completing five innings only once.

Lyles did not factor in the decision against Boston on Monday, pitching two innings and allowing two runs on five hits and one walk. He did not strike out any batters.

Lyles got through a scoreless first inning before surrendering two runs on four hits and a walk in the second. A rain delay that lasted nearly two hours soon followed, and Lyles was consequently pulled. It was a disappointing outcome for his fantasy managers after the right-hander recorded his first complete game in 10 years in his previous start, though the Orioles ended up with a win in the high-scoring 14-8 affair. Lyles likely has one more start remaining this season unless Baltimore can overcome a three-and-a-half game deficit and overcome Seattle for a wild-card spot over the waning days of the campaign.

Montas (shoulder) is expected to resume throwing this week, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Montas has been on the injured list since Sept. 20 due to right shoulder inflammation, and it seems unlikely that he'll have enough time to ramp up prior to the end of the regular season. However, the right-hander will likely be in the mix to return at some point during the playoffs. Even if Montas is deemed healthy during the postseason, it's possible that he'll have to settle for a piggyback or bullpen role given the abbreviated nature of his rehab process.

Eovaldi (shoulder) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start at some point during Boston's upcoming series against Baltimore, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Boston's coaching staff met Monday to determine the next steps in Eovaldi's recovery process and ultimately determined that the right-hander is ready to make two more starts for the Red Sox prior to the end of the regular season. He hasn't pitched in the big leagues since Aug. 12 but recently made a rehab appearance at Triple-A Worcester in which he allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four in three innings.

Whitlock underwent successful arthroscopic right hip surgery Monday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

With the Red Sox reporting that Whitlock experienced no complications with his procedure, the expectation is that he'll be back to full strength for spring training. What's less certain for Whitlock is which role he'll fill for the Boston pitching staff in 2023 after he dabbled between starting and working high-leverage relief this season, accruing a 4-2 record and six saves to go with a 3.45 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 82:15 K:BB across 78.1 innings. Expect manager Alex Cora and the Red Sox front office to should shed more light on Whitlock's role heading into the upcoming season at some point over the winter.

Schmidt (foot) made two appearances during the Yankees' four-game series with the Red Sox over the weekend, covering two innings while allowing four earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one.

After he was removed from his Sept. 18 relief appearance in Milwaukee due to a foot injury, Schmidt received a few days off before the Yankees made him available out of the bullpen. The right-hander was hit hard in his return to action Thursday, as he allowed four of the seven batters he faced to reach base to squander a 3-0 lead. The Yankees eventually came back to win Thursday's contest, and Schmidt rebounded in another high-leverage opportunity Saturday, retiring the side en route to notching his third hold of the season. He should remain an integral part of the Yankees bullpen during what's left of the campaign.

Varland is slated to start Thursday's home game against the White Sox.

He'll be getting his third straight turn through the rotation, even though he was briefly returned to Triple-A St. Paul before being recalled ahead of his most recent start. Through three starts overall in September with the big club, Varland owns a 5.06 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB in 16 innings.

Bundy (8-8) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.1 innings to take the loss during Sunday's game against the Angels.

Bundy hasn't been particularly effective recently, and Sunday's start marked his fourth consecutive outing in which he's failed to last at least five innings. Although he's been charged with just two losses across that span, he's posted a 9.18 ERA in 16.2 innings over those four starts. The right-hander tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Detroit on Saturday.

Suarez (7-8) allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six in 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Twins on Sunday.

Although Suarez fell one out shy of picking up a quality start Sunday, he was rewarded with his seventh win of the year after settling for losses in his last two outings. The southpaw has lasted at least five innings in all 10 of his starts following the All-Star break, and he's posted a 2.84 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 57 innings during that time. He tentatively lines up to make his next start at home against the Rangers on Sunday.

Bello (2-7) took the loss during Sunday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Yankees, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings.

Bello surrendered one run on two hits in the fourth inning and another run on an error in the sixth before the game prematurely ended due to weather. Despite three losses in his last five starts, the 23-year-old has compiled a stellar 1.65 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 27.1 innings this month. Bello sports a 4.39 ERA and 1.69 WHIP with 51 strikeouts in 53.1 innings across 12 games and six starts. He's scheduled to take the mound again next weekend in Toronto.
