Ryan (10-7) took the loss against Boston on Wednesday, tossing five innings and allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out eight batters.

All five of the runs Ryan gave up came in the third inning, when he served up a grand slam to Xander Bogaerts and a solo shot to J.D. Martinez. Though the right-hander racked up 19 swinging strikes and punched out eight batters, the poor frame was too much for Minnesota to overcome. Ryan has largely impressed this season, but he has allowed at least five runs on three different occasions, including a 10-run shelling against San Diego on July 29. He's still managed to post a decent 3.88 ERA and 1.14 WHIP while racking up 121 strikeouts over 118.1 innings overall.

Wacha (10-1) earned the win over Minnesota on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over six innings.

Wacha induced a modest eight swinging strikes in the contest but still managed a healthy seven strikeouts. He allowed a two-run homer to Luis Arraez in the third inning but otherwise kept Minnesota off the scoreboard en route to his 10th win of the campaign. Wacha is posting a career-low 7.2 K/9 on the campaign, yet he is also on pace for career-best marks in ERA (2.56) and WHIP (1.02). He's been fortunate to record an unusually low BABIP, however, so it's logical to wonder if his strong numbers will continue to hold.

Javier (8-9) allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven across five innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Rangers.

Javier re-entered the rotation after appearing out of the bullpen during Houston's weekend series against Baltimore. He served up a two-run home run to Corey Seager in the opening frame but settled in to tally his ninth consecutive appearance having allowed three or fewer earned runs. For the season, Javier owns a 3.07 ERA with a 157:44 K:BB across 120.1 frames.

Perez (10-5) allowed five earned runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out five across five innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Astros.

Perez struggled throughout the outing, allowing at least one earned run in three of his five innings. Wednesday's start marked only the second time in nine starts since the All-Star break that Perez has allowed more than two earned runs in an outing. For the season, he owns a 2.89 ERA with a 144:54 K:BB across 159 frames.

Sandoval (5-9) earned the win Wednesday over the Yankees. He allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings.

Sandoval gave up both runs in the fifth inning, but Shohei Ohtani's three-run home run covered the damage in the sixth. This was Sandoval's third straight quality start, which comes after a stretch of five straight starts in which he didn't complete six frames. The southpaw now has a crisp 3.02 ERA on the year, though his 1.34 WHIP and 127:52 K:BB through 122 innings remain somewhat concerning. He's projected for a favorable home start versus the Tigers next week.

Cole (10-7) took the loss Wednesday versus the Angels, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out four over seven innings.

All of the damage against Cole came in the sixth inning when Shohei Ohtani took him deep for a three-run home run. The four strikeouts were Cole's lowest total in a start since June 9. While it wasn't the best of outings for the right-hander, he was able to log his fourth quality start in six games in August. He's at a 3.28 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 204:40 K:BB through 164.2 innings across 27 starts this year. Cole's projected for a home start versus the Twins in the first of a potential two starts next week.

Bubic (2-10) allowed two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out one over six innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the White Sox.

By his recent performances, this was actually a good start, though the four walks were the second-highest amount he's allowed in one game this year. Bubic limited the damage to solo home runs by AJ Pollock and Elvis Andrus, but the Royals' lack of run support did him in. Through 23 outings (22 starts), Bubic has a 5.47 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 84:53 K:BB through 105.1 innings. The southpaw is lined up for a home start versus the Guardians next week.

Lynn (4-5) allowed one run on four hits and a hit batter while striking out eight over seven innings to earn the win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Lynn didn't miss a turn through the rotation during his time on the bereavement list. The right-hander returned with his fourth quality start in six outings in August. Across 36.2 innings for the month, he allowed just 11 runs (10 earned) while striking out 42 and walking just three. The strong month lowered his season ERA to 4.70 with a 11.4 WHIP and 91:13 K:BB through 84.1 innings across 15 starts overall. Lynn is projected for a road start in Seattle next week.

Gonzales (10-12) earned the win after he tossed six innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out one versus the Tigers on Wednesday.

Gonzales gave up two runs in the bottom of the second after allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base in the inning. He later surrendered another run in the bottom of sixth on a Jeimer Candelario RBI single. Gonzales has now produced three strong starts in a row after he gave up five runs against the Rangers on Aug. 13, compiling a 2.76 ERA over those three outings.

McKenzie (9-11) was charged with the loss after he pitched five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven Wednesday versus the Orioles.

McKenzie didn't have his best stuff Wednesday, failing to pitch at least six innings for the first time since July 23. He walked in a run in the top of the third frame and surrendered a solo homer to Gunnar Henderson in the fourth. The outing snapped the 25-year-old's streak of four consecutive quality starts. McKenzie has produced a 2.48 ERA with 36 strikeouts over 32.2 innings in his last five outings.
