  • Cam Schlittler SP | NYY

Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Strikes out 11 in no-decision

Schlittler did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 2-1, extra-inning loss to Atlanta, allowing one run on three hits with 11 strikeouts over seven innings.

Schlittler was dominant until surrendering a solo homer to Matt Olson in the seventh inning, throwing 67 of 96 pitches for strikes with a whopping 23 whiffs. It was a quick rebound after the 25-year-old stumbled in his shortest outing of the year Monday, and he's now delivered three double-digit strikeout efforts on the campaign. He'll take a 2.21 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 182:31 K across 146.2 innings into a road matchup with the Blue Jays next weekend.

  • Brayan Bello RP | BOS

Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Allows one run in bulk relief

Bello did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Athletics, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts over four innings.

Bello threw 34 of 51 pitches for strikes with seven whiffs and departed in line for a potential win before the Athletics rallied late. The 27-year-old continues to pitch well in a relief role, allowing just two earned runs over 22.2 innings since July 12. He owns a 4.84 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 64:27 K:BB across 83.2 frames overall this season, including eight starts and 10 relief appearances.

  • Steven Matz RP | TB

Rays' Steven Matz: Earns save against Mariners

Matz hit a batter but did not allow a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Mariners.

Matz has allowed one run over 8.2 innings since he returned from a sprained left ankle. This was his first save of the season, though he shouldn't be expected to factor into the late innings often -- he got the chance because Bryan Baker was rested Sunday after pitching the previous two days. Matz has filled a versatile role this year with a 5.55 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 47:20 K:BB through 61.2 innings over 21 games (10 starts). While the Rays' rotation is running a bit thin, Matz's usage out of the bullpen on consecutive days this weekend suggests he'll remain in a multi-inning relief role moving forward.

  • J.T. Ginn SP | ATH

Athletics' J.T. Ginn: Logs quality start in no-decision

Ginn did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Red Sox, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts over six innings.

Despite throwing just 54 of 95 pitches for strikes, Ginn battled to earn his second straight quality start since returning from the injured list Tuesday. The 27-year-old has now logged a quality start in each of his three second-half outings, posting a 1.96 ERA over 18.1 innings during that span. He'll take a 3.41 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 107:53 K:BB across 121.1 innings this season into a home matchup with the Rangers next weekend.

  • Mariners' Emerson Hancock: Inefficient in loss

Hancock (6-7) allowed two runs on nine hits, one walk and a hit batsman while striking out three over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Rays on Sunday.

Hancock put too much traffic on the basepaths early. He wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning and stranded runners in the second and third frames before the Rays were able to scrape runs together in the next two innings. This was Hancock's third straight loss, and he's allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 25 hits and four walks over 15.2 innings in that span. Overall, he has a 3.35 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 111:30 K:BB through 121 innings over 22 starts. Hancock's next start is projected to be on the road in Houston.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Shane Bieber: Gives up five runs in no-decision

Bieber allowed five runs on six hits and three walks over 5.2 innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Phillies. He struck out four.

Four of the five runs charged to Bieber came off the bat of Kyle Schwarber, who opened the scoring with a three-run homer in the third inning before adding a solo shot in the fifth. Bieber had gone four starts without allowing a home run prior to Sunday, posting a 2.79 ERA over 19.1 innings in that span. His ERA now sits at 5.48 through nine starts (42.2 innings) this season with a 1.66 WHIP and 32:23 K:BB. Bieber is tentatively in line to face the Yankees at home his next time out.

  • Randy Dobnak SP | KC

Royals' Randy Dobnak: Knocked around in first loss

Dobnak (2-1) took the loss against the Cubs on Sunday, allowing four runs on 10 hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out four.

Regression appeared to be looming for Dobnak, who had managed to give up just four runs altogether in his prior six starts (31 innings) despite posting a troubling 15:13 K:BB during that stretch. Sunday marked the third time in his career that he conceded double-digit knocks, and the right-hander has still yet to exceed four strikeouts in an outing this year. Dobnak has a 2.00 ERA across 36 frames, but a 1.33 WHIP and particularly a 19:14 K:BB remain causes for concern going forward.

  • Twins' Connor Prielipp: Fans seven in no-decision

Prielipp took a no-decision against the Brewers on Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out seven.

Prielipp bookended his outing poorly, serving up a Jackson Chourio home run in the first inning before coughing up two more runs in the fifth, but he did register 15 whiffs Sunday. The seven punchouts were the southpaw's most since June 28 versus the Rockies, which also represents his last quality start. Prielipp will be tough to trust when he brings a shaky 4.79 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 88:32 K:BB over 82.2 innings into his next scheduled outing at home against Philadelphia.

  • Astros' Jason Alexander: Healthy again at Triple-A

Alexander (undisclosed) has struck out eight and allowed four earned runs on eight hits and three walks over eight innings between two appearances for Triple-A Sugar Land since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list July 30.

The 33-year-old righty was stuck on Sugar Land's IL for about six weeks due to an unspecified injury. Alexander possesses a spot on the Astros' 40-man roster, but he's unlikely to get a look in the big leagues in the near future unless Houston loses multiple starters or long relievers to injury.

  • Griffin Jax SP | TB

Rays' Griffin Jax: Lands on injured list

The Rays placed Jax (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

Jax was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday versus the Mariners due to right elbow discomfort, so the move to the injured list isn't much of a surprise. The Rays are still looking to find more information regarding the severity injury, as Jax is scheduled to meet with a doctor in Dallas on Wednesday for a second opinion, per Ryan Bass of Rays.tv. The 31-year-old will be eligible to be reinstated Aug. 21, though a longer absence could be in store given the nature of the injury.
