Baz allowed a run on three hits and two walks while striking out six in 5.2 innings Tuesday. He did not factor into the decision in the 5-3 loss against Milwaukee.

Baz held the Brewers scoreless through the first five innings, scattering two singles and two walks. After allowing a leadoff single in the sixth, he fanned the next two batters and was removed from the ballgame, having thrown a season-high 95 pitches, rather than facing Andrew McCutchen. Matt Wisler came in and promptly allowed a pair of two-out, two-run homers. The 23-year-old Baz has been excellent over his last three starts, allowing two runs in 16.1 innings while posting a 19:4 K:BB.

Stripling struck out three in five innings Tuesday while allowing two runs on five hits and a walk. He did not factor into the decision in the 6-5 win against Boston.

Stripling allowed a solo homer to Trevor Story in the second and consecutive hits to begin the fifth, leading to the other run. He was removed after five innings after having tossed 81 pitches rather than face the heart of Boston's lineup for the third time. It was another good start for the 32-year-old following his to the rotation, as he's compiled a 1.75 ERA and 17:4 K:BB in 25.2 innings over five starts in June.

Wacha allowed four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out two in five innings Tuesday. He did not factor into the decision in the 6-5 loss in Toronto.

Wacha got off to a rough start, allowing three hits and two walks in Toronto's three-run first inning. He allowed three more hits in the third inning, leading to the fourth run against him. The veteran struggled with command Tuesday and needed 90 pitches to complete the five innings. His three walks tied his season high and were a departure from the excellent control he displayed in his previous six starts, as he'd issued just five free passes in 34.2 innings during that span.

Valdez (8-3) earned the victory Tuesday against the Mets, striking out five in eight shutout innings while allowing six hits and two walks.

In a typical outing for Valdez, the lefty retired 12 batters on groundballs and induced two double plays. It was the 12th straight time he's tossed at least six innings in a start. For the month of June, the 28-year-old compiled a 2.81 ERA and 31:11 K:BB in 32 innings.

Seabold could make another spot start Sunday against the Blue Jays, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Seabold was rocked for seven runs by the Blue Jays on Monday, but the Red Sox want to give Michael Wacha an extra day before his next start, and Seabold is the most obvious choice to get the ball. He will have been optioned for just five days at that point, so the Red Sox may have to place someone on the injured list in order to activate him.

Glasnow (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, his first since undergoing Tommy John surgery last August, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Glasnow's ability to get back on a mound represents an important milestone in his recovery from elbow surgery, but he'll still face an uphill battle to make a return from the 60-day injured list in 2022. Slowly but steadily, he'll likely increase the intensity and frequency of his bullpen sessions before advancing to the next stage of his rehab program: facing live hitters.

Whitlock (hip) will likely need a rehab assignment following Friday's throwing session, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

He will face live hitters and go through fielding drills Friday, but Speier estimates Whitlock will still require a rehab assignment after that. Assuming he goes out on a rehab assignment after this weekend, Whitlock could return to make one or two starts before the All-Star break.

Seabold was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Seabold gave up seven runs on nine hits and a walk in 4.2 innings Monday against the Blue Jays. He will rejoin the Triple-A rotation to serve as organizational depth. Seabold has a 2.09 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 51 strikeouts in 51.2 innings across 11 appearances with Worcester.

Sears was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to his start Tuesday against the A's.

The Yankees haven't needed to use more than five starters for most of the season, so Sears has largely pitched at Triple-A, where he has a 2.25 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 33:6 K:BB in 28 innings over his last six starts. He also struck out five over five scoreless innings en route to a win in his lone MLB start this season, so there's reason to deploy him in this nice matchup in a spot start against Oakland.

Kirby (2-3) took the loss against Baltimore on Monday, allowing seven runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out two over four innings.

Of the nine hits Kirby surrendered in the contest, six went for extra bases -- including four that left the yard. The rookie wasn't able to keep the Orioles off the scoreboard in any frame, and he needed 95 pitches to get through four innings. The performance was a big letdown after Kirby had tossed four quality starts over his previous five appearances. The four homers and seven runs were both season-worst marks for the right-hander, and his ERA shot up to 4.08 as a result of the rough night.
