Kirby (2-3) took the loss against Baltimore on Monday, allowing seven runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out two over four innings.

Of the nine hits Kirby surrendered in the contest, six went for extra bases -- including four that left the yard. The rookie wasn't able to keep the Orioles off the scoreboard in any frame, and he needed 95 pitches to get through four innings. The performance was a big letdown after Kirby had tossed four quality starts over his previous five appearances. The four homers and seven runs were both season-worst marks for the right-hander, and his ERA shot up to 4.08 as a result of the rough night.

Wells (6-4) earned the win over Seattle on Monday, allowing one run on one hit and no walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Wells had a perfect game going in the fifth inning before Cal Raleigh broke it up with a solo home run with two outs in that frame. The right-handed hurler got one more out, then called it a night after 63 pitches. That held true to the report that Wells would be on a limited pitch count for the contest after he tossed a season-high 94 pitches his last time out. In contrast to that previous appearance, Wells demonstrated excellent control Monday, throwing 41 of 63 pitches for strikes and avoiding issuing any walks for the first time in six starts. He's won each of his past five decisions, registering a 1.97 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 18:10 K:BB over 32 innings covering six starts during that span.

Bubic (1-5) took the loss Monday as the Royals were downed 10-4 by the Rangers, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out two.

The southpaw tossed 53 of 87 pitches in a shaky performance, and while Bubic didn't get much help from his defense, one of Kansas City's two errors on the night was his own. The 24-year-old has a 7.65 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 31:23 K:BB through 37.2 innings as a starter this season, and he could lose his rotation spot once Daniel Lynch (finger) is ready to return.

McKenzie (4-6) took the loss in Monday's 11-1 rout at the hands of the Twins, coughing up seven runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out seven.

For the second straight start, Minnesota had McKenzie's number, as half of the hits off the right-hander Monday went for extra bases, including homers by Gary Sanchez and Nick Gordon. Through three outings against the Twins this season, McKenzie has an 8.31 ERA and 3.6 HR/9; against the rest of the league, he sports a 2.86 ERA and 1.3 HR/9.

Gray (4-1) picked up the win Tuesday, scattering three hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings in an 11-1 rout of the Guardians. He struck out three.

The right-hander wasn't dominant but was stingy with baserunners, and what action Cleveland did have on the basepaths mostly got erased by three double plays. The quality start was Gray's fourth of the year, and he'll take a 2.17 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 49:11 K:BB through 49.2 innings into his next outing.

Eovaldi (back) played catch Monday and is expected to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Wednesday's session will mark Eovaldi's first time throwing off a mound since he landed on the injured list June 12. The right-hander is not currently with the team on its road trip.

Giolito did not factor in the decision against the Angels on Monday, completing six innings and allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six.

Giolito had been struggling mightily entering the contest, allowing 30 runs (27 earned) over his previous 25.2 innings. He appeared to straighten things out against the Angels, keeping the ball in the park for the first time over his past six outings and notching a quality start. However, a seventh-inning Los Angeles rally prevented him from snapping a three-game winless streak. Giolito will look to use this strong start to turn things around, as his 5.19 ERA and 1.53 WHIP are significantly worse than his career norms. There are some peripherals that suggest his surface numbers are likely to improve, including an excellent 10.6 K/9 and a .360 BABIP that will probably drop.

Syndergaard (5-6) earned the win over the White Sox on Monday, tossing seven innings and allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out seven.

Syndergaard shut down the White Sox through five innings, but Chicago got to him for three runs between the sixth and seventh frames. The right-hander appeared to be in line for a loss following his final inning, but the Angels scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to turn things around and hand him the victory. Syndergaard had some of his best stuff this season in the contest, registering 17 swinging strikes and tying a campaign high with seven punchouts. He hasn't been spectacular in his first season with the Angels, but Syndergaard has provided steady numbers with a 3.86 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 47:16 K:BB over 65.1 innings.

Montgomery allowed five runs on six hits and a walk over 6.2 innings in Monday's win over Oakland. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.

Montgomery was thrashed for five runs during a disastrous third inning that included a three-run double by Elvis Andrus. After that, he gave up just one hit over his final 3.2 frames. He's allowed nine runs across 12.2 innings over his last two starts, raising his season ERA from 2.72 to 3.27 in the process. Montgomery now owns a 64:14 K:BB through 15 starts. The 29-year-old is lined up to start in Cleveland this weekend.

Blackburn allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings in Monday's loss to the Yankees. He struck out seven and did not factor in the decision.

Blackburn was taken deep twice in Yankee Stadium on Monday with Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton each a ripping solo shot against the 28-year-old. After giving up just two home runs over an eight-game stretch, Blackburn has allowed four over his last two outings. He's also seen his ERA jump from 1.70 to 3.12 since May 30. Blackburn is expected to take the mound in Seattle this weekend.
