Rodriguez (ribs) will report to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday for a rehab assignment, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The left-hander has already been on the injured list for more than the 15-day minimum, and he's now entering the final stages of his rehab program. Rodriguez may need only one start in the minors before rejoining the active roster, so he could be back in Detroit's starting rotation next week if Thursday's outing with Toledo goes well.

Manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday that Mize (elbow) continues to feel discomfort while throwing and will be shut down while seeking additional medical opinions, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Mize had his rehab slowed in mid-May but resumed throwing early last week. However, he was unable to throw from 90 feet without experiencing pain and will face another shutdown as a result. A better idea of the right-hander's status will likely come into focus after he receives additional opinions on his elbow.

Manager Rocco Baldelli confirmed Tuesday that Ryan (illness) will likely require a minor-league rehab start before returning from the COVID-19-related injured list, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Though Ryan is throwing again after he cleared all COVID-19-related protocols since testing positive for the virus May 25, he'll apparently need some time to build back up for starting duty after he was sidelined for nearly two weeks. Baldelli didn't specify when Ryan will begin his rehab assignment or which affiliate he'll join, but he'll presumably report to the minors later this week.

Baz (elbow) will rejoin the Rays' rotation during their upcoming series in Minnesota, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Baz made his fourth rehab start at Triple-A Durham on Sunday and allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out 10 in 4.1 innings. He built up to 79 pitches in the start and will rejoin the Rays' rotation after Ryan Yarbrough was sent down Tuesday. The team hasn't yet revealed which game Baz will start during the three-game series against the Twins, but it seems likely that he'll take the mound Saturday or Sunday.

Civale (glute) threw a side session Monday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Civale is set to take part in fielding drills Tuesday before the Guardians decide on his next steps. The right-hander is without a clear timeline to return from the 15-day injured list, but assuming the left glute injury isn't bothering him during workouts the next few days, he could be cleared to head out on a rehab assignment in the near future.

Lynch (2-5) allowed six runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings Monday, striking out four and taking a loss against Toronto.

Lynch retired nine straight batters to start the game before his troubles began in the fourth inning. He was taken deep by Bo Bichette for a two-run shot and would later allow two more home runs, including a sixth-inning homer by Santiago Espinal that would knock him out of the contest. The 25-year-old southpaw has given up 12 runs over his last two outings, causing his ERA to jump from 3.92 to 5.36 through 10 starts. Lynch will look for better results in his projected home matchup with the Orioles this weekend.

Stripling (2-1) allowed one hit over five shutout frames Monday, striking out two and earning a win over the Royals.

The Blue Jays combined to throw a two-hit shutout and it began with five strong innings from Stripling. The only hit he gave up was Michael Taylor's single in the third. In six starts this season, the 32-year-old is 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA and a 20:2 K:BB. Stripling is currently projected to start in Detroit this weekend.

Paxton (elbow) might throw off a mound next week, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Paxton continues to throw long toss and play catch. "Hopefully, by the end of this week, he continues his progress and hop on the mound probably next week," Boston manager Alex Cora said. The left-handed Paxton is returning from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in April 2021. He had been throwing bullpen sessions in April but was set back by posterior elbow soreness before resuming a throwing program May 18.

Syndergaard (4-4) took the loss against Boston on Monday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out three over six innings.

This was a nice bounce-back performance for the right-hander after he allowed five runs in just 2.1 innings against the Yankees in his previous start. However, Syndergaard was outdueled by Red Sox starter Michael Wacha, who tossed his first complete-game shutout in five years. Syndergaard has alternated good and bad starts of late, allowing a single earned run in three of his past five outings but surrendering a total of nine earned runs across three combined frames in the other two appearances. He'll carry a season 3.69 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to come at home against the Mets this weekend.

Wacha (4-1) earned the win over the Angels on Monday with a complete-game shutout in which he allowed three hits and one walk while striking out six.

Wacha was masterful in the performance, at one point retiring 15 straight batters and completing the game without allowing any runners to reach third base. The right-hander gave up only one hit after the first inning en route to his first shutout since the 2017 season. Wacha hasn't allowed an earned run over 14.2 innings across his past two starts, and he now carries a sterling 1.99 ERA on the season. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which will likely come in Seattle this weekend.
