Suarez allowed four earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out one across five innings in the loss to the Mariners on Friday. He did not factor into the decision.

Suarez surrendered a solo home run to Ty France in the first inning. In addition, he allowed three doubles that contributed to three more runs crossing the plate. He hasn't allowed more than four runs in any start this season, and he has a 3.41 ERA over his last five starts. On the season, the 23-year-old has a 3.86 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 80 punchouts in 93.1 innings.

Gilbert allowed four earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four across 5.1 innings in the win over the Angels on Friday. He did not factor into the decision.

Gilbert was set up for the win, but he allowed a pair of runs to score in the sixth inning to tie the game. Max Stassi also went deep off Gilbert in the fourth inning. The pitcher had a rocky start to his rookie season, but he has a 2.93 ERA over his last five starts. The 24-year-old carries a 4.83 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 124 strikeouts in 113.2 innings this season.

Mize didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Royals, allowing one run on two hits over three innings. He struck out three.

Detroit is limiting the innings of the younger members of its rotation down the stretch, and as a result Mize hasn't worked more than three innings in any of his four September starts. The 24-year-old has a 4.09 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB through 11 innings on the month, and he should get one more outing in 2021 next week in Minnesota.

Bieber didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 1-0 loss to the White Sox, tossing three perfect innings and striking out three.

Cleveland didn't push its ace too hard in his first start since June 13 as he made his return from a shoulder issue, but Bieber was absolutely brilliant through 34 pitches (22 strikes). If the club sticks with a seven-man rotation over the final days of a lost season, the right-hander will carry a 3.17 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 133:33 K:BB through 93.2 innings into his final appearance of 2021, next week on the road against the Rangers.

Eovaldi (10-9) took the loss Friday as the Red Sox were downed 8-3 by the Yankees, surrendering seven runs on seven hits and two walks over 2.2 innings. He failed to strike out a batter.

With Boston fighting to hang onto a wild-card spot, the right-hander picked a bad time to deliver his worst start of the season. Eovaldi tossed 37 of 59 pitches for strikes, with a three-run blast by Giancarlo Stanton in the third inning being the biggest blow against him. Eovaldi will take a 3.88 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 188:34 K:BB through 176.1 innings into what is likely to be his final start of the regular season next week in Baltimore.

Cole (16-8) picked up the win in Friday's 8-3 victory over the Red Sox, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out six.

The right-hander blanked Boston through five innings before serving up a three-run shot to Rafael Devers in the sixth, but the Yankees already had a comfortable lead. The quality start was Cole's first in four outings and his 18th of the year, and he'll take a 3.08 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 237:41 K:BB through 175.1 innings into what's likely to be his final start of the regular season next week in a series against Toronto which could determine a wild-card spot.

Bielak (3-4) allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three across three innings Friday, taking the loss to the Athletics.

Bielak surrendered all three runs in the third inning, allowing four straight batters to reach base safely with one out. It was the first runs he's allowed dating back to July 17. As of late, Bielak has struggled with walks, issuing 10 free passes in his last 11.2 innings. The 25-year-old has a 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 46 punchouts in 50 innings this season.

Montas (13-9) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks while striking out eight across seven innings, earning the win over the Astros on Friday.

Montas surrendered a solo home run to Jose Altuve in the third inning for his lone earned run. Otherwise, he kept the Astros in check and allowed just one other hit. He's now posted a quality start in six of his last seven appearances. The 28-year-old has a 3.48 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 200 strikeouts in 181 innings and is just the 11th pitcher to reach 200 punchouts this season.

Ober (3-3) allowed one run on four hits while striking out six across 5.1 innings to earn the win against Toronto on Friday.

In his previous start, also against Toronto, Ober allowed four runs in four innings, but he was much more effective in the rematch Friday. The right-hander pitched into the sixth frame for the first time in September and allowed only four hits, half of which -- including a home run -- came off the bat of Marcus Semien. Ober's six strikeouts fell one shy of his season high, and he didn't walk any batters for the fourth time in his past five outings. He'll look to build on the victory when he takes on the Tigers at home next week.

Berrios (12-9) took the loss against Minnesota on Friday, pitching six innings and allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out to 10.

The right-hander was touched up for three runs in the third inning, but he was otherwise dominant against his former team. Berrios racked up double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this season and induced 17 swings-and-misses while notching his sixth straight quality start. However, Toronto was able to offer only run of support, sending Berrios to his ninth loss of the campaign. He'll carry a solid 3.48 ERA and 197:45 K:BB into his next start, which is lined up to come at home against the Yankees next week.
