Ryan (personal) will be placed on the bereavement list Saturday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Ryan left the team Friday to attend to a personal matter, but manager Rocco Baldelli is hoping the right-hander will be able to rejoin the Twins as early as Sunday. Players are required to spend a minimum of three days on the bereavement list, which would still put Ryan in line to start Tuesday's series opener against Detroit if he's back with the team in time for the game.

Wells was removed from Friday's game against the Rangers due to right shoulder discomfort, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Wells tossed just two pitches in Friday's contest before he left the game with a trainer. The right-hander will be re-evaluated Saturday to determine the severity of the issue. Prior to his departure, he gave up a triple that resulted in an earned run.

Cease (triceps) doesn't expect to miss his next turn through the rotation, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Cease was removed from Friday's game against Cleveland in the bottom of the sixth inning with a right triceps contusion that he sustained when he was hit by a comebacker. However, the right-hander downplayed the severity of the injury after the game and said he hopes to make one more start prior to the postseason. He'll presumably be monitored in the coming days to determine his availability, but he projects to make his next start at home against the Tigers next weekend.

Manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Taillon (ankle) has a "good chance" to rejoin the Yankees' rotation during next week's series against the Blue Jays, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Taillon is currently on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and allowed two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out two in three innings Wednesday. It's not yet clear whether he'll appear in the minors this weekend, but he's on track to rejoin the Yankees for the final week of the regular season. Bielak will start in place of Zack Greinke on Friday against Oakland after Greinke was placed on the 10-day injured list with neck soreness, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bielak's last major-league outing also came in a spot start Sept. 17 against Arizona. He logged 2.2 scoreless innings during that start before being optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land, although he returned to the Astros just two days later. Bielak figures to have a hard time working deep into Friday's game given that he hasn't eclipsed 3.1 innings all season.

Greinke was scratched from his Friday start against the Athletics and placed on the 10-day injured list with neck soreness, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Greinke last pitched Sunday, but the move to the IL could only be backdated as far as Tuesday. He'll be eligible to be reinstated Oct. 1 against Oakland, though it remains to be seen if he'll need longer to recover from the neck issue. The right-hander has struggled of late, posting a 7.56 ERA while going winless in his last five starts, but he still figures to be in Houston's postseason plans so long as he's able to return in time for the ALDS. Brandon Bielak will start instead Friday. Greinke isn't yet sure when he'll be able to return but could pitch with a reduced workload if he's back in time for the ALDS, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
