Bubic (3-6) allowed seven runs on nine hits and a walk over 1.1 innings Sunday, striking out one and taking a loss against St. Louis.

Bubic was hit hard right out of the gate Sunday, allowing three runs in the first inning as the Cardinals brought all nine starters to the plate. He then coughed up four more runs in the second and served up homers to Nolan Arenado and Tyler O'Neill. The 23-year-old southpaw tossed 56 pitches as his season ERA shot up from 4.43 to 5.09 through 86.2 innings. Bubic had given up seven runs over 22.2 innings (2.78 ERA) over his four previous starts. He's lined up to face the Cubs on the road next weekend.

Rodriguez (9-6) allowed an unearned run on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts over six innings, earning the win over Baltimore on Sunday.

Rodriguez has been on a good run since a rocky outing versus Toronto on July 29. Across his last three starts, he's given up just three runs (two earned) in 16.1 innings while striking out 24. The southpaw allowed half of his six baserunners Sunday in a sloppy first inning before settling down to turn in a dominant start. He has a 4.97 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 145:36 K:BB across 116 innings this season. Rodriguez lines up for another favorable home start versus Texas next weekend.

Rasmussen is listed as the Rays' probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Orioles, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

After striking out four over four innings of one-run ball while starting Thursday in Boston following Ryan Yarbrough's placement on the COVID-19 injured list, Rasmussen will pick up another turn through the rotation while Yarbrough remains on the shelf. Even if Yarbrough makes it back from the IL for next weekend's series with the White Sox, Rasmussen could retain a spot in the rotation if he performs well versus the Orioles, given the extent to which back-end starters Josh Fleming and Michael Wacha have struggled of late. Rasmussen could be cleared to throw around 60-to-75 pitches Tuesday after he was pulled after 50 pitches in last week's start.

McKenzie (2-5) earned the win Sunday over Detroit. He threw eight shutout innings of one-hit ball with a season-high 11 strikeouts and no walks.

McKenzie carried a perfect game into the eighth inning before Harold Castro broke up the bid with a two-out single. The right-hander has had a few gems this season, but Sunday's was arguably the brightest of them all as he notched his fourth quality start in his last five outings. Despite his strong pitching lately, McKenzie still has a 5.12 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 99:46 K:BB across 84.1 innings. He lines up for a home start versus the Angels next weekend.

Gil is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start one game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus Boston, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Gil made his second big-league start last Sunday and has yet to allow a run through 11 innings, but he was still sent back to Triple-A so the Yankees could take advantage of the roster spot. The 23-year-old seems likely to return to the minors after Tuesday's twin bill, especially with Gerrit Cole and Jordan Montgomery both poised to be activated from the injured list after testing positive for COVID-19.

Montgomery (COVID-19) is expected to return from the injured list to start one game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

The left-hander rejoined the team this weekend after testing positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 3, and he's poised to re-enter the starting rotation Tuesday. Montgomery has a 2.22 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB over his past five starts (28.1 innings), and he'll attempt to pick up where he left off before he tested positive for the virus.

Manager Tony La Russa said Sunday that Rodon's medical examination came back clean and confirmed shoulder soreness, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Rodon is still expected to miss more than the 10-day minimum after landing on the injured list Wednesday, but according to James Fegan of The Athletic, La Russa indicated indicated the lefty could return during the upcoming four-game series in Toronto, which begins Aug. 23. Reynaldo Lopez is scheduled to start Tuesday and figures to remain in the rotation until Rodon is cleared to return.

Civale (finger) is scheduled to throw a two-inning simulated game Tuesday with High-A Lake County, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The right-hander has been throwing off a mound for the past few weeks and will advance to facing live hitters Tuesday. Assuming all goes well with Lake County, Civale could subsequently begin a rehab assignment, which is likely to last multiple starts, as he nears his return from a nearly two-month absence.

German (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Monday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander completed a bullpen session Saturday and will make a quick return to the mound two days later as he continues his throwing program. Manager Aaron Boone was uncertain whether German would embark on a rehab assignment following Monday's session.

Cole landed on the shelf Aug. 2 after testing positive for COVID-19, and he'll rejoin New York's rotation exactly two weeks later. The right-hander could have a more limited workload in his first start back, but he shouldn't face significant limitations given the brevity of the absence.
