Matz (8-4) won Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader 10-0 shutout of the Rangers, allowing three hits with two strikeouts in five innings.

Matz was staked to 10-run lead after two innings and didn't allow any Ranger past second base as Toronto hurlers permitted just four baserunners total. It was the 30-year-old lefty's first scoreless performance since May 14. He's yet to go six innings since May 25 as Matz has pitched to a 4.43 ERA and is averaging just over five innings per start.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Severino (elbow) fared well Sunday during a 30-pitch outing against live hitters, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Facing hitters for the first time since being pulled off his minor-league rehab assignment in mid-June due to a Grade 2 groin strain, Severino appeared to be in good physical shape, according to Max Goodman of SI.com. Boone said that Severino will face hitters again in five or six days before the Yankees determine whether the right-hander is ready to head back out on a rehab assignment. The Yankees want Severino to build up to five or six innings in his rehab starts before bringing him back from the 60-day injured list, so he's realistically at least a month away from making his 2021 big-league debut.

Ryu (9-5) earned the win in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader versus Texas. He threw a seven-inning shutout, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out four.

This was Ryu's fourth win in his last five starts, and it'll count as his first complete game and shutout of the season. The southpaw recorded his first quality start since June 20 in the performance. He owns a 3.32 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 85:24 K:BB across 105.2 innings this season. Ryu projects to make his next start versus the Mets during next weekend's series.

Allard (2-7) allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out only one in 5.1 innings while taking the loss in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader versus Toronto.

Allard only gave up one home run to Danny Jansen, but Toronto had little trouble building offense off of him. Texas gave its starter just three hits and no runs in terms of offensive support. The 23-year-old lefty has a 4.06 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 62:14 K:BB through 68.2 innings this season. Allard lines up for another road start in Houston during next weekend's series.

Springs has fired three scoreless innings across his last two appearances after a pair of outings July 2 and 5 that saw him give up four earned runs, including two home runs, over 1.2 frames.

The left-hander had been largely reliable all season prior to his pair of consecutive stumbles, but Springs appears to have quickly put the brief funk behind him during his two most recent trips to the mound. He first authored a pair of perfect innings with five strikeouts against the dangerous Blue Jays lineup July 9, and he kicked off his second half of the campaign with another pristine frame versus Atlanta in Saturday's defeat.

Bubic allowed a run on two hits and three walks while striking out five in six innings during Saturday's loss to Baltimore.

Bubic has now made half of his 16 appearances out of the bullpen, although he essentially saw a starter's workload Saturday after Brady Singer was ineffective. Bubic has a 5.03 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 53:33 K:BB in 62.2 innings overall, and he may be poised for a versatile role to begin the second half of the season.

Cole (10-4) took the win Saturday against Boston, tossing six innings and allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out 11.

The Yankees' ace gave up a second-inning run but was otherwise dominant against the division-rival Red Sox. He threw 96 pitches across six frames before the game was called due to heavy rain. Despite the shortened affair, Cole notched double-digit strikeouts for seventh time this season. Over his past two starts, he has struck out 23 across 15 frames while allowing only one run and eight hits. His next start is scheduled to be a rematch versus Boston, this time on the road, late next week.

The Tigers are expected to call Manning up from Triple-A Toledo to start Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Before being optioned to Toledo prior to the All-Star break, Manning was lit up over his first five big-league starts, posting a 6.95 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across 22 innings. Despite the discouraging results, Manning looks like he'll have a decent amount of leash at the back of the Detroit rotation due to the team's lack of healthy starters. Jose Urena (groin) joined Matthew Boyd (triceps), Spencer Turnbull (forearm) and Julio Teheran (shoulder) on the injured list Saturday, and none of the four appear close to a return.

Boyd (triceps) has been steadily increasing his throwing distance off flat ground, but he has yet to be cleared for mound work since being placed on the 10-day injured list June 15, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

While it's a positive sign that Boyd isn't shut down, the Tigers aren't counting on him to return from the injured list before the end of July. A firmer target date for Boyd's reinstatement should come once he's sent out on a minor-league rehab assignment, but he has multiple hurdles to clear in the recovery process before he reaches that point.

Maeda allowed three runs on three hits and a walk while striking out eight over five innings in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers. He did not factor into the decision.

All three runs given up by Maeda came on one swing of the bat. The 33-year-old loaded the bases in the second before allowing a triple to Akil Baddoo that brought everyone home. Aside from one bad inning, Maeda had his stuff working as he topped at least seven strikeouts for the third straight outing. The right-hander is having an uncharacteristically down year with a 4.71 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB over 72.2 innings. He's lined up for a home start against the Angels next week.
