The Guardians recalled Peterson from Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Peterson was added to the Guardians' 40-man roster last offseason, but this will be his first stint in the big leagues. The 26-year-old has logged a 4.53 ERA and 102:34 K:BB across 95.1 frames this season with Columbus. Peterson will likely be needed to cover some innings during Friday's doubleheader versus the Tigers.

The Guardians activated Cecconi (arm) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Cecconi has been sidelined for nearly a month with right arm fatigue, but he's been cleared to return after allowing two runs over 3.2 innings in two rehab outings. The right-hander will be used in a relief role down the stretch, and there's a good chance he'll be needed to pitch during Friday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Bieber (shoulder) was scheduled to throw off flat ground Thursday, but he remains without a timeline for his return to game action, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

The Blue Jays have just 21 games left on their regular-season schedule, and it's looking increasingly likely that if Bieber pitches again this year, it will have to be in the playoffs. The veteran righty was just starting to find his form when he was shut down in late August with teres major inflammation, as he recorded four quality starts in seven outings after the All-Star break with a 2.84 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 38 innings.

Houck (elbow) will throw a simulated game Friday, MLB.com reports.

This will be the second sim game for Houck, who threw one earlier this week at Boston's training complex in Fort Myers. Pending the outcome of Friday's session, Houck could begin a rehab assignment next week, and a return to the big-league bullpen late in the regular season is still on the table.

Anderson (0-1) took the loss against the Athletics on Thursday, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Anderson fell behind quickly, giving up a solo homer to the second batter he faced in the game. Though Seattle responded with a three-run bottom of the first inning, the rookie hurler couldn't capitalize, and he trailed by a run when his day was done after five frames. Both the seven hits and four runs Anderson allowed were his most through three big-league starts, and he's found the sledding a bit rough at the MLB level thus far, posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 11:7 K:BB over 15 innings. He'll look to get into the win column for the first time when he next takes the mound, which is slated to be a home matchup against the Rangers.

McClanahan (10-7) took the loss against Texas on Thursday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three batters over five innings.

McClanahan was strong to begin the game, starting with three scoreless frames. However, the southpaw gave up four runs across his final two innings, with the big blow being a Corey Seager two-run homer. McClanahan continues to fall short of six frames -- he's yet to reach that mark over seven starts since the All-Star break. He's fallen off a bit in the second half with a 4.78 ERA across 32 innings, though he's posted a 24:11 K:BB and 1.09 WHIP during that span.

Rocker will pitch in bulk relief behind opener Trevor Williams during Friday's game against the Rays, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Rocker has appeared in 26 games this season, 24 of which have been as a traditional starter. He's followed an opener twice and has experienced success in that capacity, going a season-high 7.2 innings against the Rockies at Coors Field back in May before covering five innings at Miami in June. In total, the right-hander has allowed just two runs on eight hits and three walks with 15 strikeouts across those 12.2 frames.

Wacha (9-8) notched the win against the Marlins on Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out seven.

The veteran right-hander continued his reliable ways Thursday, logging his third straight quality start and seventh in his last nine. Wacha has been a stabilizing presence in Kansas City's banged-up rotation, surrendering more than four earned runs on just three occasions in 28 starts. He'll carry a solid 3.36 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 143:44 K:BB over 176.2 innings into his next scheduled outing versus Arizona.

Young took a no-decision against the Red Sox on Thursday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks in 6.2 innings. He struck out seven.

The right-hander was one out away from a second consecutive seven-inning start, but Isiah Kiner-Falefa singled on a groundball to tie up the game and send Young to the dugout. Young has been a dependable back-end rotation piece for the Orioles throughout 2026, yielding more than three earned runs just four times in 24 starts. He'll bring a 3.42 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 110:48 K:BB over 137 innings into his next scheduled outing versus Cleveland.

Bennett took a no-decision against the Orioles on Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out seven.

After serving up back-to-back solo home runs to begin the fourth inning, Bennett responded by retiring the final nine batters he faced Thursday. Despite getting a quick hook -- the 68 pitches were his second fewest of 2026 -- the southpaw went deep enough for his third consecutive quality start. He's set to take a strong 3.34 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 81:18 K:BB over 99.2 innings into a favorable home matchup versus the Angels.
