Rodriguez (4-0) earned the win Sunday against the Mariners after giving up three runs on six hits across seven innings. He struck out eight.

Rodriguez tossed his longest outing of the campaign and also recorded a second straight quality start. The eight strikeouts represent a season-high mark for the 28-year-old left-hander, who now owns a 3.52 ERA through four appearances. He's slated to take the ball next week during a four-game road series against the Mets.

Ryu (glute) is expected to be fine after he was removed from his start Sunday against the Rays, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Ryu racked up five strikeouts in 3.2 innings before he sustained a minor right glut strain that forced him to leave the game early. Manager Charlie Montoyo wasn't concerned about Ryu's injury after Sunday's game, and it wouldn't be surprising to see the southpaw make his next start as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks in the coming days.

Schmidt (elbow) has begun throwing again, Jordan Horrobin of MLB.com reports.

Schmidt landed on the 60-day injured list in late March and recently received a cortisone injection. The right-hander isn't eligible to return from the IL until June 1, and he appears to have a long recovery road ahead as he tries to ramp back into game shape. "Obviously, it'll be a while, because he's starting from scratch essentially again, but he's doing well," manager Aaron Boone stated Saturday.

The Blue Jays announced that Ryu was removed from his start Sunday against the Rays due to a minor right glute strain.

Ryu was sharp (five strikeouts in 3.2 scoreless innings) before the injury ended his day early. Since he departed with the game knotted at 0-0, Ryu won't factor into any decision, but he at least looks in good shape to avoid missing additional time due to the injury. Assuming Ryu is able to complete a between-starts bullpen session in the next couple of days without issue, he'll likely be cleared to make a start during next weekend's three-game series versus Atlanta.

Suarez was activated from the injured list Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Suarez had been on the injured list at the team's alternate training site for an undisclosed reason. He'll likely stay at the alternate site rather than move to the big-league bullpen, but his re-addition to the roster ensures that he won't be exposed to waivers. Suarez has struggled immensely in his time as a big leaguer, but he was once among the organization's top pitching prospects, so there is still hope that he can turn things around and contribute to the big club at some point.

Ryu was removed in the bottom of the fourth inning of Sunday's game against the Rays due to an apparent injury, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

After a trainer visited him on the mound, Ryu checked out of the game, but an explanation behind his removal likely won't come until later Sunday. Ryu had struck out five over 3.2 scoreless innings while giving up three hits and a walk before departing.

Skubal is slated to work in relief Sunday against the Royals after Michael Fulmer makes an abbreviated start, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Detroit manager A.J. Hinch didn't specify how long Fulmer would go and didn't say Skubal will follow him immediately, but the lefty should work at least a handful of innings in Sunday's game. Skubal last appeared Wednesday, when he pitched three scoreless innings in relief following a four-inning start by Fulmer, so that could give some idea of how things will break down as long as the two pitchers are working in a tandem, though Fulmer is on short rest Sunday and may be pulled earlier than usual.

Bieber (2-2) took the loss Saturday as Cleveland fell 2-1 to the Yankees. He gave up two runs on four hits and three walks over seven innings while striking out nine.

Saturday's clash between Bieber and Gerrit Cole didn't disappoint, but a pair of fifth-inning solo shots stuck the Cleveland right-hander with the loss. Bieber's nine strikeouts were also a season low, and he'll take a 2.48 ERA and stunning 57:12 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next outing Friday on the road against the White Sox.

Cole (3-1) picked up the win in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Cleveland, allowing one run on three hits over seven innings. He struck out 11 without walking a batter.

Matched up against Shane Bieber in a battle of AL Cy Young Award favorites, Cole put up the better performance, firing 75 of 111 pitches for strikes and fanning double-digit batters for the third time in five starts this season. He'll take a 1.71 ERA and incredible 50:3 K:BB through 31.2 innings into his next outing Friday at home against the Tigers.

Canning (1-2) took the loss in Saturday's 16-2 rout by the Astros, coughing up six runs on six hits and two walks over 2.1 innings while striking out three.

Carlos Correa clubbed Canning's fifth pitch of the game into the seats for a leadoff homer, and it was downhill for the entire Angels pitching staff from there. The right-hander now has an 8.40 ERA thanks largely to serving up six homers in 15 innings, negating the positive impact of his 17:5 K:BB. He'll try to keep the ball in the park in his next outing, likely to come May 1 in Seattle.
