Heaney allowed two runs on two hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in Friday's win over Minnesota. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.

Heaney was mostly untouched through five innings of work but got into a bit of trouble to start the sixth. He allowed the first two batters to reach base before striking out Jake Cave. He was then relieved by Aaron Slegers who allowed three runs to score, including two charged to Heaney. The 6-foot-2 lefty will carry a 5.65 ERA into next Thursday's start in Houston.

Wacha (1-1) allowed one hit and two walks while striking out nine in six scoreless innings to earn the win against the Yankees on Friday.

Wacha didn't allow a runner to get past first base in the first six innings Friday, and his nine strikeouts matched the highest total of his career. The right-hander got plenty of late run support from Tampa Bay's offense to cruise to his first win of the year. He's now posted a 4.20 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 20 strikeouts in 15 innings across three appearances (two starts) to begin the season. Wacha lines up to make his next start on the road against Kansas City on Wednesday.

Urena (0-3) allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings in Friday's loss to Oakland. He struck out eight and took the loss.

The 29-year-old cruised through three scoreless innings to start the game before coughing up two runs in the fourth. His offense couldn't get much going against Frankie Montas so Urena was tagged with a loss despite producing his best outing of the season. He now owns a 17:11 K:BB and 5.52 ERA through 14.2 frames. Urena will face the Pirates at home next Thursday.

Montas (2-1) allowed two hits and a walk over six scoreless frames Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over Detroit.

After an ugly outing against the Dodgers to start the season, Montas has put together back-to-back wins in impressive outings. In his six shutout innings Friday, no Tiger made it past first base. Over his last two starts, the 28-year-old righty has yielded just one run while striking out 12 batters across 12 innings. Montas will carry a 4.91 ERA into next Wednesday's home contest against the Twins.

Manager A.J. Hinch said Friday that there's a "definite chance" that Turnbull (COVID-19 protocols) could return to the rotation during the team's upcoming series against the Pirates, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Turnbull reported to the Tigers' spring-training facility at the beginning of April after he cleared the league's health and safety protocols. The right-hander has been building up since then, and Hinch revealed that Turnbull had a throwing session Thursday. The Tigers' manager was apparently pleased with Turnbull's progress since he was optimistic that the 28-year-old could make his season debut next week. Turnbull made 11 starts last year and posted a 3.97 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 56.2 innings.

Cease (COVID-19 protocols) was reinstated from the injured list Friday.

Cease's reinstatement from the COVID-19 IL was expected after he had a series of negative tests following a mild illness Wednesday. Since Friday's series opener against the Red Sox was postponed due to inclement weather, Cease will start Saturday's contest against Boston.

Milone will make a spot start in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Royals.

Milone has appeared as a reliever in both of his outings thus far this season, though he threw three innings both times, so he should be able to handle four or five Saturday if he works efficiently. As a starter for Atlanta and Baltimore last season, the veteran lefty struggled to a 6.69 ERA.

Kremer will start Saturday against the Rangers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Kremer will be on three days' rest, as he most recently took the hill Tuesday against the Mariners. He was knocked out of that game after throwing just 54 pitches, however, so he should be allowed to go fairly deep into Saturday's contest if he can keep runs off the board.

Paxton (forearm) was placed on the 60-day injured list Friday.

The team announce earlier this week the 32-year-old will require Tommy John surgery, so it was only a matter of time before he moved to the 60-day IL. Paxton will miss the rest of the season and is looking at a potential return during the middle of the 2022 campaign.

Matz and the Blue Jays won't play the Royals on Friday as the game was postponed due to rain, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

The 29-year-old will receive at least one extra day of rest due to the postponement. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Saturday, with Matz taking the hill for the first game.
