Garcia (0-1) allowed two runs on three hits and struck out two over 1.1 innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Garcia got through the sixth inning without much trouble, but he allowed an RBI triple to Pavin Smith before throwing a wild pitch that allowed Smith to score. The Astros were unable to cover Garcia's damage, and he took his first major-league result and loss. The 23-year-old righty has a 2.53 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and eight strikeouts across 10.2 innings this year. Garcia had been used as a long reliever and a spot starter once each prior to a shorter appearance Friday.

Greinke allowed three runs on six hits and struck out nine over five innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Friday.

All three runs against Greinke scored on Kole Calhoun's fourth-inning blast. Friday was Greinke's third straight start without a win, but his first in that span that wasn't a loss. The right-hander has a 3.90 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 62 strikeouts in 62.1 innings across 11 starts. Greinke carries a 3-2 record into Wednesday's start versus the Mariners, which will likely be his last of the regular season.

Hill (2-2) was charged with the loss against the Cubs on Friday, allowing just one run on three hits and a pair of walks while striking out five across seven innings.

Hill got off to a tough first inning but managed to only allow one run to score on an RBI single by Willson Contreras. The southpaw blanked Chicago the rest of the way during his longest outing of the season, but unfortunately, the lone run he surrendered was enough to land him the loss. Hill, who was coming off a season-high seven strikeouts, has now allowed only five runs across his last 17 innings -- striking out 17 and walking only four during that span. The 40-year-old will take the mound next Wednesday against Detroit.

Montas was reinstated from the paternity list Friday, according to an A's press release.

The A's already have their starters set for Friday and Saturday with Chris Bassitt and Jesus Luzardo, but this frees up Montas to start Sunday agains the Giants if Oakland decides that's the way it wants to go. Montas has an ugly 5.86 ERA in nine starts this season and has only one victory in his last five outings. He has not made it through six innings in any of those five games.

Verlander (forearm) may throw a simulated game Monday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Manager Dusty Baker indicated the veteran right-hander is tentatively scheduled for the simulated game, but he also said he has yet to verify those plans with the athletic trainer. Verlander threw 75 pitches during his last workout Wednesday, 24 of which came against hitters. Assuming he throws Monday, the 37-year-old could return to the rotation for the final series of the regular season next weekend, though he likely wouldn't be tasked with a full starter's workload.

Odorizzi was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right middle finger blister, retroactive to Sept. 17, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

The 30-year-old returned from an abdominal issue Wednesday but left that start during the fourth inning due to the blister. Odorizzi will be eligible to return from the injured list for the regular-season finale Sept. 27, though it's unclear if he'll require additional time to recover. The Twins have scheduled off days Monday and Thursday and won't require a fifth starter in his absence before the playoffs.

Keuchel (back) will return from the injured list Saturday and start at Cincinnati, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The 32-year-old was previously expected to rejoin the rotation Thursday, but the team pushed his return back a few days to line him up for the playoffs. Keuchel has a 6-2 record with a 2.19 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 32:12 K:BB over 53.1 innings this season.

Anderson (0-2) took the loss Thursday as the Blue Jays fell 10-7 to the Yankees, coughing up seven runs on eight hits -- including an incredible five home runs -- and a walk over 2.2 innings of relief. He struck out four.

Entering the game after opener Julian Merryweather allowed two runs in the first inning, Anderson tossed a couple of clean frames before a disastrous fourth in which the Yankees posted their first five-homer inning in franchise history, en route to becoming the first team in MLB history to slug six or more homers in three straight games. Anderson's next outing is also scheduled to come against the Yankees back in Buffalo on Tuesday, but his 7.45 ERA and 1.72 WHIP through 29 innings this season don't inspire much confidence that he's ready for a rematch.

Kremer didn't factor into the decision in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Rays, giving up one run on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.

He was headed for his first loss in the majors before Ryan Mountcastle's RBI single in the sixth tied the score at 1-1 and got Kremer off the hook. The rookie right-hander has been lights outs in his first three starts for Baltimore, not allowing more than one run in any of them, and he'll carry a 1.69 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB through 16 innings into his final outing of the season Wednesday in Boston.

Snell didn't factor into the decision in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Orioles, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

The southpaw was in line for his fifth win of the season in an eventual 3-1 victory, but after he exited the game with a runner on second and one out, Diego Castillo proceeded to blow the save by allowing the inherited runner to score. Snell tossed 73 pitches 47 strikes) in the strong outing, and he'll carry a 3.05 ERA and 54:15 K:BB through 44.1 innings into potentially his final start of the regular season Tuesday, on the road against the Mets.
