Canning gave up a run on four hits and a walk while striking out seven across eight innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Sunday.

Canning had his best start of the year -- he had pitched six or more innings only once in his previous six starts. However, the Angels offense didn't support him, which means Canning is still looking for his first win of the year. The 24-year-old has a 4.04 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 30 strikeouts through 35.2 innings this season. He'll look to maintain his momentum when he faces the Astros on Friday.

Dunning allowed one walk and no hits while striking out seven across five scoreless innings Sunday against the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.

Dunning was pulled after 79 pitches despite having a no-hitter intact. He generated 13 swinging strikes while also inducing six groundball outs to dominate the Royals. Dunning has pitched well through two starts in the major leagues, allowing three earned runs across 9.1 frames while also racking up a 14:2 K:BB. With Gio Gonzalez (groin) placed on the injured list, Dunning should have a spot in the rotation going forward, and his next start is projected to come Friday in a rematch at Kansas City.

Dunn tossed six scoreless innings, allowing a hit and four walks while striking out six in a no-decision versus the Angels on Sunday.

Dunn and Angels starter Griffin Canning engaged in a pitchers' duel throughout the contest. Dunn hasn't allowed a run in his last two outings, compiling 12 scoreless innings in that span. The 24-year-old has a 4.33 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 21 strikeouts through 27 innings this season. Dunn's next started is expected to come Saturday versus the Rangers.

Manager Kevin Cash said Morton (shoulder) will likely return from the 10-day injured list to start either Tuesday or Wednesday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Morton's shoulder responded well to his latest bullpen session Saturday, leaving Cash optimistic that the right-hander will be ready to rejoin the rotation this week. Before he was shut down with the shoulder injury, Morton recorded a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB In 16.2 innings over his four starts.

Perez's (finger) next scheduled start might be pushed back at least a day, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Perez pitched through a blister on his left index finger during Friday's start. His next turn through the rotation is scheduled for Wednesday at home against Atlanta, but manager Ron Roenicke said Sunday that Perez could be pushed back a day as he continues to recover. If he's unable to take the mound Wednesday, Darwinzon Hernandez or Ryan Weber could be candidates to start in his place.

Eickhoff signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Sunday.

Eickhoff was quick to find an opportunity in another organization after he was granted his release from San Diego on Wednesday. He'll join the Rangers' 60-man roster pool and will report to the Rangers' alternate training site, but Eickhoff could be in line for a quick promotion if Texas parts with other pitchers prior to Monday's trade deadline. Eickhoff made 12 appearances (10 starts) for Philadelphia in 2019, posting a 5.71 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 58.1 innings.

Mize allowed two earned runs across three innings and did not factor into the decision in Sunday's win over the Twins. He gave up two hits and two walks while striking out four.

Making his third MLB start, Mize continued a trend of not going very deep into the game. The 23-year-old has maxed out at 4.1 innings and has yet to throw 80 pitches in an outing, though the 67 he threw Sunday were actually the fewest he's recorded in his brief career. The Tigers are clearly being cautious with their prized prospect and not pushing him too hard in his first MLB season, which caps Mize's fantasy potential in the short term. He lines up to face the Twins again Saturday in his next scheduled start.

Bundy (4-2) earned the win Saturday against the Mariners. He allowed one run on four hits and three walks while fanning three across 5.1 innings.

Bundy received strong support from the offense as the Angels mustered six runs in the first five innings before adding 10 more against Seattle's bullpen. The right-hander now has a 2.32 ERA in five starts this month and has allowed more than two earned runs just once in that stretch.

The White Sox recalled Dunning from their alternate training site ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Royals, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Chicago placed Gio Gonzalez (groin) on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move, clearing a spot on the active roster and in the rotation for Dunning. The right-hander made his MLB debut Aug. 19 against the Tigers, working 4.1 innings and giving up three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Valdez won't start as scheduled Sunday as the game was postponed after the Athletics reported a positive test for COVID-19.

Assuming nothing comes up across teams as the A's complete contact tracing, the Astros will be fine to begin their next series Tuesday versus the Rangers, with Valdez likely to take the mound. The 26-year-old has a 2.35 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 40:9 K:BB through six outings this season.
