Civale (3-2) allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks while striking out six across nine innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Pirates.

Civale carried a shutout into the ninth inning, but allowed a leadoff double which resulted in the only run against him. He was dominant otherwise, recording 21 called strikes and 15 swinging strikes across 109 total pitches. Not only does Civale now have a 2.91 ERA across 34 innings this season, but he's worked at least six innings in all five of his starts. He'll look to continue his breakout campaign in his next outing, currently projected to to come Monday against Minnesota.

Manager Joe Maddon announced Wednesday that Teheran will move to the bullpen, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The writing was on the wall as the veteran right-hander wasn't listed as the probable starter for his next turn through the rotation, and Maddon made it official before Wednesday's game. Teheran had a late start to the season after missing much of summer camp due to COVID-19, and he posted a 12.38 ERA and 2.25 WHIP in three starts (eight innings). The team hasn't indicated who is expected to take his spot in the starting rotation.

Keller (3-0) allowed three hits over 6.2 scoreless in a win over the Reds in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader. He struck out five and walked three.

Keller's ERA remains spotless; he's now up to 17.2 scoreless innings on the season. He was locating his slider down Wednesday, took a no-hitter into the sixth and nearly went the distance in this seven-inning game. Keller should probably be picked up in any leagues in which he's still available. The righty lines up for two road starts next week, first in St. Louis before an interdivisional matchup against Chicago.

Teheran isn't scheduled to start any of the Angels' next five games, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

The veteran right-hander lined up to start Friday in Oakland after surrendering four runs over 3.1 innings to the Dodgers last Sunday, but he's not listed as a probable starter for the weekend series against the A's. Teheran missed most of summer camp after testing positive for COVID-19, and through his first three starts he's covered only eight innings and has a 12.38 ERA and 2.25 WHIP. It remains unclear when he'll next take the mound for the Halos.

Chirinos was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right elbow strain Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Chirinos was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday after he was sidelined with right triceps inflammation, but he'll miss at least another 10 days as a result of a right elbow strain. It's unclear when he could be ready to return to the mound. Right-hander Aaron Slegers was recalled by the Rays in a corresponding move.

Heaney will receive an extra day of rest and start in Oakland on Friday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Heaney had been expected to start the finale of the Angels' current series against San Francisco on Thursday, but he'll instead travel across the bay to battle the Athletics on Friday. The team has yet to announce a starter for Thursday.

Dunning was recalled from the White Sox's alternate training site Wednesday.

The transaction was anticipated as Dunning will serve as the starting pitcher Wednesday against the Tigers. The right-hander missed the 2019 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery and will be making his major-league debut Wednesday. He posted a 2.76 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 62 innings in 11 starts with Double-A Birmingham in 2018.

Kaprielian was optioned to Oakland's alternate camp site Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The A's need a fresh reliever after Tuesday's starter (Frankie Montas) pitched just 1.2 innings before giving way to the bullpen, so Kaprielian will swap roster spots with Paul Blackburn. Kaprielian made one appearance during his time with the big club, allowing one run across two innings of relief.

Blackburn was recalled from Oakland's alternate camp site Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Blackburn will provide the A's with a fresh bullpen arm after Tuesday's starter (Frankie Montas) recorded just five outs before exiting. The righty appeared in four games for the A's in 2019 and allowed 13 runs across 11 innings. James Kaprielian was optioned in a corresponding move.

Mize's contract was officially purchased ahead of his start Wednesday against the White Sox.

This was a formality, as this start had already confirmed, Mize just needed to be added to the 40-man roster. The only concern with Mize as a pitching prospect has been his inability to hold up in the second half in back-to-back seasons, dating back to college, but that should be a non-issue in this shortened season. He doesn't have quite the strikeout juice that some of the game's other elite pitching prospects possess, but this is a decent matchup on paper, as he faces a righty-heavy White Sox lineup.
