Canning (elbow) has resumed throwing, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Canning was shut down in late August due to right elbow inflammation, ending a rookie season in which he allowed a 4.58 ERA in 90.1 innings. The issue was described as mild at the time, and the fact that he's already resumed throwing suggests that he'll have a good shot to be at full strength heading into the 2020 campaign.

McCullers (elbow) announced Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he has completed his rehab from Tommy John surgery and will have full clearance ahead of spring training.

McCullers missed the entire 2019 season after undergoing the reconstructive elbow surgery last November. While the Astros may exercise caution with McCullers' workload during the spring, he shouldn't be in store for any significant restrictions once the 2020 campaign begins if he avoids any setbacks along the way. The 26-year-old righty turned in a 3.86 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 142:50 K:BB across 128.1 innings in 2018.

Anderson's club option was picked up by the Blue Jays on Monday, Robert Murray of The Athletic reports.

The Blue Jays acquired Anderson from the Brewers in exchange for Chad Spanberger earlier in the day. Milwaukee was likely going to decline the righty's $8.5 million option, but Toronto clearly acquired him with the intention of keeping him around.

Anderson was traded to the Blue Jays on Monday for an undisclosed return, Robert Murray of The Athletic reports.

The 31-year-old regressed slightly in 2019, as his ERA rose to 4.21 with a 1.27 WHIP. He increased his average fastball velocity to a career-high 93.4 mph, but struggled in limiting home runs, as he allowed 23 over 32 appearances (27 starts). Rogers Centre allowed the highest HR/9 rate of any major-league park last season, so Anderson could see his number of home runs allowed increase unless he can turn things around. The Brewers had reportedly been leaning toward declining Anderson's team option, so a change of scenery could be beneficial, although it's unclear whether the Blue Jays will pick up his option.

Rodon (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Rodon underwent Tommy John surgery in May and the southpaw is still expected to be sidelined until late next season. The team just reinstated him to the 40-man roster heading into the offseason, as was required by MLB. In 27 starts over the past two seasons, Rodon posted a 4.40 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP.

Kopech (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Thursday.

After undergoing Tommy John surgery in September of 2018, the right-hander is expected to have a normal offseason and no restrictions in spring training. Prior to the surgery, Kopech recorded a 5.02 ERA with a 15:2 K:BB over 14.1 innings pitched for the White Sox in 2018.

Verlander will not pitch in Game 7 of the World Series against the Nationals on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 36-year-old threw 93 pitches over five innings during Game 6 on Tuesday, allowing three earned runs while only managing three strikeouts, and manager A.J. Hinch said that Verlander won't be available out of the bullpen for the winner-take-all Game 7. The right-hander finishes the postseason with a 4.33 ERA and a 1-4 record over 35.1 innings pitched in six appearances.

Verlander went five innings and gave up three runs on five hits and three walks in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to Washington in Game 6 of the World Series. He struck out three.

For the second time in the World Series, Verlander came out on the losing end of a battle with Washington's Stephen Strasburg. The pivotal inning for Verlander on Tuesday came in the fifth when he gave up solo blasts to Adam Eaton and Juan Soto that turned a 2-1 lead into a 3-2 deficit. After another brilliant regular season, Verlander did not display the same dominance in the postseason, going 1-4 in six starts with a 4.33 ERA. He gave up eight home runs in 35.1 innings.

Verlander will start Game 6 of the World Series against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Verlander gave up four earned runs over six innings in his Game 2 start during the World Series, but he'll get the chance to right the ship Tuesday as the Astros look to clinch the series. The 36-year-old carries a 4.15 ERA with 35 strikeouts over 30.1 innings this postseason.

Oaks (hip) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and designated for assignment Tuesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Oaks underwent hip surgery in early March and was sidelined all season. He was able to pitch in the Arizona Fall League, allowing six earned runs in 12 innings, so it looks like he'll be good to go for the start of the 2020 season.
