Urquidy has been named the starter for Game 4 of the World Series against Washington on Saturday, Jerome Solomon of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Urquidy will have a shot at helping his team get back to even in the series after the Astros defeated the Nationals 4-1 in Game 3 on Friday. He's made two appearances in the postseason, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while fanning eight over 4.1 innings.

Verlander (0-1) went six innings in Wednesday's 12-3 loss to Washington in Game 2 of the World Series, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts.

Verlander gave up a two-run double to Anthony Rendon in the first inning but blanked the Nationals over the next five innings. He came out to start the seventh with the game tied 2-2, but he was immediately greeted by a Kurt Suzuki solo blast to lead things off. Verlander followed that with a walk to Victor Robles and Houston manager A.J. Hinch went to his bullpen from there. Verlander hasn't displayed the same dominance in the playoffs that he showed during the regular season, and he's now yielded four runs in three of his last four postseason starts.

Greinke will start Game 3 of the World Series in Washington on Friday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Greinke has been the Astros' third starter all postseason and will remain in that role for the World Series. He'd be lined up to start Game 7 on regular rest should the series go that long.

Verlander will start the second game of the World Series against the Nationals on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Verlander will slot in behind co-ace Gerrit Cole rather than pitching on short rest in Game 1. The veteran has been pitched well but shy of his typical elite level in four starts this postseason, recording a 3.70 ERA in 24.1 innings.

Cole will start Game 1 of the World Series against the Nationals on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Cole had been behind Justin Verlander in the Astros' postseason rotation but will jump ahead of him due to Verlander pitching in the ALCS on Friday. Cole has allowed a single run in 22.2 innings of work this postseason, striking out 32 batters while walking eight.

Severino is available in the bullpen for Game 6 of the ALCS against the Astros on Saturday, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.

Severino would be pitching on three days' rest if he appears, as he threw 4.1 innings in Game 3 on Tuesday. The Yankees may prefer to not use him if possible, as he'd be lined up to throw Game 7 on Sunday, should the series get that far.

Urquidy is in line to open Game 6 of the ALCS against the Yankees on Saturday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Skipper AJ Hinch didn't name an opener for Saturday's matchup, though he did note that it would be a bullpen day. According to Nightengale, it would be a shock if Urquidy didn't begin the matchup on the hill.

Cole is set to start Game 7 against the Yankees on Sunday if the series extends, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Cole was lights-out in Game 3, firing seven scoreless frames while fanning seven, and should the Yankees push the series to Game 7, he'll have a chance to lead his squad to the World Series on Sunday. Through three October appearances, he owns a stunning 0.40 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 32 punchouts across 22.2 innings.

Severino will pitch Game 7 of the ALCS against the Astros on Sunday should the series extend past Saturday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Severino took the loss in Game 3, surrendering two runs on five hits and three walks while fanning six over 4.1 innings of work. Gerrit Cole would toe the rubber for the opposition should the series extend to Game 7.

Greinke gave up one run on three hits and four walks with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings in Thursday's 8-3 win over the Yankees in Game 4 of the ALCS.

Greinke appeared to be on the ropes during a three-walk first inning, but Brett Gardner's bases-loaded walk with one out was the only run the Yankees could muster off him. Greinke followed with a strikeout of Gary Sanchez to end the inning and was able to put up zeroes for the next three innings. He left the game leading 3-1 with one out in the fifth after a DJ LeMahieu single and an Aaron Judge walk. Greinke has fanned 16 in 14 postseason innings in 2019 but has allowed 20 baserunners and five home runs.
