Greinke did not factor into the decision against Tampa Bay on Thursday, pitching 5.2 innings and giving up five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight.

After four consecutive victories to start his tenure with Houston, Greinke was touched up for five runs Thursday to walk away with a no-decision. Four of those runs were courtesy of Travis d'Arnaud, who sandwiched RBI singles in the second and sixth innings around a two-run homer in the fourth. Despite the rough outing, Greinke's eight strikeouts were the most he has posted since joining Houston and a vast improvement over the lone whiff he collected in his previous outing. The 35-year-old will carry an overall 2.99 ERA and 1.01 WHIP into his next scheduled start, at Milwaukee on Tuesday.

Bassitt allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out one across 4.2 innings Thursday against the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.

Bassitt surrendered a two-run home run to Jorge Soler in the opening frame but appeared to settle in afterward by throwing three scoreless innings. However, he ran into problems again in the fifth inning and was ultimately pulled after Cheslor Cuthbert doubled to left field, accounting for Bassitt's final two runs allowed. Looking forward, Bassitt could be out on paternity leave in the near future, leaving his next start in limbo but also potentially opening a spot in the rotation for Sean Manaea (shoulder), Shayna Rubin of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Through 23 starts this season, Bassitt now owns a 3.67 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 118 strikeouts across 130 innings.

Springs (biceps) will make his next rehab appearance for Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.

Springs will move his rehab to the highest level of the minors after losing a pair of perfect innings for the team's Arizona League affiliate, striking out three batters in the process. The southpaw has been on the shelf since mid-June with biceps tendinitis but is trending toward rejoining the Rangers sometime in September.

Cease (3-7) allowed eight runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out three over two-plus innings and picked up the loss to Minnesota on Thursday.

Cease's outing went so awry that manager Rick Renteria and a staff trainer paid him a mound visit following one particularly wild pitch, per Scott Merkin of MLB.com. His raw stuff was good -- Cease topped out at 100 mph and induced 10 swinging strikes -- but he never found a groove and departed with none out in the third after allowing back-to-back home runs. The young right-hander has had some growing pains during his introduction to MLB, but this outing was his worst by far. He'll tote a 6.92 ERA into his next start Tuesday on the road in Cleveland.

Valdez is scheduled to make another start Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Valdez was called up from Triple-A Round Rock last week as a replacement in the rotation for the injured Aaron Sanchez (pectoral) and pitched well enough in his start against the Angels to earn a second turn. While he earned a win after allowing only one run over six innings, Valdez showed shaky control, walking five batters and plunking another two. Getting support from one of baseball's top offenses will help Valdez's cause moving forward, but he'll need to scale back the free passes to find consistent success in the majors and avoid doing damage to his fantasy managers' ratios.

Suarez is listed as the Angels' probable starter for Friday's game against the Red Sox.

With a 6.67 ERA and 1.71 WHIP through his first 13 outings (12 starts) with the Angels this season, the 21-year-old lefty doesn't look to be big-league-ready at this point. Suarez will get at least one more turn through the rotation nonetheless, as the Angels are lacking in alternative options after Griffin Canning (elbow) and Felix Pena (knee) were both shut down for the season earlier this month. In his first start after being called up from Triple-A Salt Lake last weekend, Suarez lasted only 4.2 innings while giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks to take a loss against the Astros.

Glasnow (forearm) will make a rehab appearance at Triple-A Durham on Friday, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

Glasnow was originally scheduled to make his first rehab appearance with High-A Charlotte, but weather prompted the Rays to move him to Durham, where he'll pitch one inning (or 20 pitches). The right-hander is scheduled to make another two or three appearances in the minors following Friday's before hopefully rejoining the Rays. Once healthy, Glasnow is expected to be deployed as a starter, though seeing as he won't have enough time to build up to a normal starter's workload, he'll likely be in store for abbreviated outings on days he pitches.

Baz received an invite to the Arizona Fall League on Wednesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Baz earned his AZL spot by virtue of a rock-solid season at Low-A Bowling Green, one in which he generated a 3-2 record, 2.87 ERA and 1.26 WHIP while recording 78 strikeouts across 75.1 innings. The 20-year-old arrived in the Rays organization in the Chris Archer trade with the Pirates last season that also yielded Tampa both Tyler Glasnow (forearm) and Austin Meadows.

Dunn is a strong candidate to be called up from Double-A Arkansas sometime in September after rosters expand in September and the Travelers' postseason run concludes, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Arkansas begins a best-of-five playoff series Wednesday and could remain alive all the way through Sept. 15 if it reaches the championship round. Therefore, while an exact arrival date for Dunn would be impossible to pin down at the moment, he is pegged as a highly likely callup, especially since the Mariners would need to add him to the 40-man roster this winter anyhow in order to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. Dunn's first full season at the Double-A level has produced encouraging results, as he owns an 8-5 record, 3.55 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 153 strikeouts over 126.2 innings.

Odorizzi (14-6) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings while striking out eight in an 8-2 victory over the White Sox.

It's only his second quality start of the second half, as Odorizzi has stumbled to a 4.28 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 49:19 K:BB through 48.1 innings over nine starts since the All-Star break. The right-hander will try to stay on track in his next outing Monday in Detroit.
