German (16-2) allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts across seven frames to earn a victory against the Orioles on Tuesday.

While he gave up two solo home runs, German's domination of the AL East continued Tuesday. Against the Orioles, German improved to 4-0 with a 2.52 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 25 innings this season. German has seen his ERA increase since the beginning of July, but he's won seven of his last eight outings and took a no-decision in the other one. Behind that winning streak, he leads the league with 16 victories and has a 3.96 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 124 strikeouts in 116 innings this season. German will face the Indians next at home Sunday.

Cease (2-5) allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits with five walks and two strikeouts across six innings while taking a loss against the Astros in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

The final two runs charged to Cease came via wild pitches, one of which occurring after Cease had departed, so they were both unearned, but he's not completely free of blame because each runner who scored on those wild pitches reached via base on balls. Cease has struggled with walks all season, but five free passes set a new season high. Cease owns a 5.54 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 35 strikeouts with 20 walks in 39 innings this season. He will take the mound next at the Angels on Sunday.

Greinke (12-4) allowed two runs on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts across six innings to earn a victory in the first game of a doubleheader against the White Sox on Tuesday.

Although he won in his Astros debut, his second outing went much smoother, and he picked up his 12th win of the season. Even though he allowed five runs in his first start with the Astros, Greinke owns a 3.00 ERA in his last six appearances. Overall, has a 3.08 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 143 strikeouts in 158 innings this season. Greinke will make his next start Sunday at the Athletics.

Kikuchi gave up five runs on nine hits and one walk over 3.1 innings during Tuesday's 11-6 win at Detroit. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

Kikuchi fell apart during the fourth inning and was charged with four runs on five hits, including a pair of homers. The 28-year-old has largely struggled during his first season in the majors with a 5.56 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 95:42 K:BB over 126.1 innings, and he is set to pitch at Toronto on Sunday.

Clevinger surrendered four runs on 11 hits and two walks across 4.2 innings during Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Red Sox. He struck out six and didn't factor in the decision.

Clevinger entered Tuesday's game having won five consecutive decisions, but that streak came to an end as he gave up double-digit hits for the first time this season. The 28-year-old has a 3.34 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 95:22 K:BB through 67.1 innings and lines up to pitch Sunday at Yankee Stadium.

Sale recorded 12 strikeouts and surrendered five runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings during Tuesday's 10-inning win at Cleveland. He didn't factor in the decision.

Sale held the Indians to one run through his first five frames, but allowed two runs in both the sixth and seventh, though two were unearned. It's the second straight outing with 12-plus strikeouts for the left-hander, and he'll look to extend that streak Sunday against the Orioles.

Eovaldi won't open Wednesday's game against the Indians after appearing out of the bullpen Tuesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Manager Alex Cora hinted prior to Tuesday's game Eovaldi was being considered to open Wednesday's contest, but he instead used the right-hander to escape from an eighth-inning jam where the tying run was on second base. The 29-year-old has mostly struggled in relief to this point, but he nonetheless came through in a high-leverage spot for the Red Sox. Brian Johnson will start Wednesday's series finale.

Boyd (6-9) allowed seven runs (six earned) across 5.1 innings and took the loss Tuesday against the Mariners. He gave up seven hits and two walks, while striking out four.

Boyd was victimized four times by Seattle home runs, and the long ball has been a big problem for the lefty lately. He was tagged for three homers in his last start, in which he allowed five runs in just 2.2 innings. On the season, Boyd has now allowed 30 home runs in 146 innings, and his ERA climbed to 4.38 after the rough start Tuesday. He'll look to keep the ball in the park and get back on track in his next outing, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Rays.

Lynn (14-8) allowed one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out six across five innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Lynn's lone blemish came on a solo home run by Randal Grichuk in the second inning. Otherwise, his only trouble came in the fourth frame when he loaded the bases with one out, but forced a pop out and line out to close the inning. Though Lynn has now lost back-to-back starts, he's surrendered only two earned runs across 12 innings while striking out 14. For the season, he maintains a solid 3.54 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. He'll look to turn in another strong start in his next outing, currently scheduled for Sunday against Minnesota.

Cole was scratched from Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox with right hamstring discomfort, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Cole had the discomfort crop up during his warmup session and was scratched shortly before first pitch, forcing reliever Chris Devenski into emergency starting duty. It's unclear if the injury is expected to impact Cole's availability for his next turn through the rotation.
