Verlander (15-4) gave up one run on three hits and two walks while striking out 10 through six innings to take the win over the Mariners on Sunday.

Verlander was his usual dominant self, registering 16 swinging strikes on his way to another fine outing. The right-hander recorded his 200th strikeout of the season in this game and tied Pedro Martinez with 219 career wins. Verlander has a 2.68 ERA with 206 strikeouts through 24 starts this season. Verlander will make his next start Saturday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Milone (1-6) gave up two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out seven through five innings to take the loss against the Astros on Sunday.

Working as the primary pitcher behind Sam Tuivailala, Milone gathered 14 swinging strikes but was out-dueled by Justin Verlander and ultimately hung with the loss. Milone struck out the first five Astros he faced and retired the first six batters overall. The left-hander has a 4.33 ERA and 68 strikeouts through 70.2 innings this season. Milone would slate into the rotation again Saturday against the Rays at T-Mobile Park, but it is not clear if he will follow an opener or start.

Sandoval will serve as the primary pitcher for Monday's game against the Reds, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Sandoval was expected to start Monday's contest, but it'll be Taylor Cole who works the first inning or two before making way for Sandoval. The 22-year-old lefty will be making his major-league debut.

Bieber (11-4) picked up the win after allowing two runs on five hits while striking out eight over nine innings Sunday against the Angels.

Bieber surrendered a run in the fourth and another in the seventh on a solo blast, but he was able to go the distance in this one. He fired 76 of his 107 pitches for strikes and tossed first-pitch strikes to 20 of the 31 batters he faced. The 24-year-old right-hander continues to impress in 2019, and he'll head into his next outing with a 3.31 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with a 182:30 K:BB over 149.1 frames.

Chirinos (9-5) was credited with the win in Sunday's 7-2 triumph over the Marlins. He gave up one run on two hits with one walk and four strikeouts across five innings before exiting with inflammation on his right middle finger, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Though the injury resulted in him being pulled after just 63 pitches, Chirinos bounced back impressively after yielding a season-high seven runs his last time out July 28 in Toronto. The Rays will likely evaluate Chirinos over the next few days before determining his status for his next scheduled turn through the rotation, which would likely fall next weekend in Seattle.

Kluber (forearm) is scheduled to make his first rehab start Thursday with Triple-A Columbus, Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com reports.

Word surfaced Saturday indicating that Kluber would kick off his rehab assignment during the upcoming weekend, but it wasn't known what affiliate he would pitch for until Sunday. With Kluber coming out of his two-inning simulated game over the weekend without incident, he'll bypass a trip to a lower-level affiliate and instead head to directly to Triple-A, perhaps signaling that the Indians don't expect him to require a lengthy rehab stint. Cleveland will likely see how Kluber looks Thursday before determining whether he's fit to immediately re-enter the rotation on a lightened pitch count or if he'll need at least one more start in the minors to build up his arm following the lengthy absence.

Canning, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, has been diagnosed with right elbow inflammation, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Canning's move to the IL came as a surprise after there was no indication from the team that he sustained an injury in his most recent outing in Tuesday's win over the Tigers, when he spun six scoreless innings and struck out seven. Though the Angels have clarified that the rookie is tending to an arm injury, DiGiovanna notes that the Angels have already ruled out any UCL damage to the right-hander's elbow. He'll likely be prescribed some rest for the next few days before the Angels determine whether Canning is fit to resume a throwing program.

Odorizzi, who was lined up to start Sunday's game against the Royals, will be pushed back at least one day in the pitching schedule with the Twins recalling Devin Smeltzer from Triple-A Rochester to take the hill for the series finale with Kansas City, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Odorizzi isn't believed to be dealing with any sort of injury, so the Twins will likely just have him pick up an extra day rest before returning him to the rotation in Monday's series opener with the Braves. Smeltzer will assume the rotation spot that had previously belonged to Michael Pineda (triceps), who was moved to the 10-day injured list earlier this weekend. Assuming Odorizzi ends up receiving the nod Monday, he would line up for a two-start week, with his second turn coming Aug. 10 versus the Indians.

The Angels placed Canning on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to an unspecified issue, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Angels should provide more clarity on the reason behind Canning's IL placement later Sunday, but the rookie showed no signs of poor health is his most recent outing Tuesday against the Tigers, striking out seven over six scoreless frames to pick up the win. Patrick Sandoval will be recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to replace Canning in the rotation Monday in Cleveland.

Boyd didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Rangers, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings while striking out nine.

The lefty celebrated staying in Detroit at the trade deadline with another sharp performance, missing out on his 13th quality start of the year by a single batter while fanning at least eight batters for the seventh straight start. Boyd will take a 3.91 ERA and 187:30 K:BB through 138 innings into his next outing Thursday, at home against the Royals.
