  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Earns fourth win

Carrasco (4-3) shut out the White Sox over seven innings, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out six to pick up the win Tuesday.

The 32-year-old won his second straight start over the White Sox, shutting them out in both games over a combined 12 innings. In Tuesday's game, the White Sox notched two hits in both the first and third innings, but Carrasco quickly ended the threat both times. He has lowered his ERA to 4.18 and his WHIP to 1.16, and currently lines up to face the Orioles at home Sunday.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Yankees' James Paxton: Tosses side session

Paxton (knee) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Paxton was spotted wearing a knee brace during his latest throwing session, and he'll continue to wear the brace moving forward. The southpaw said he did feel something in his knee during the bullpen, but that it wasn't anything like the pain he'd experienced before. Paxton is scheduled to toss another side session Thursday, as long as he isn't sore Wednesday.

  • Aaron Civale RP | CHC

Indians' Aaron Civale: Returns to Akron

Civale (lat) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings to earn the win in Double-A Akron's 15-2 victory over Reading on Saturday.

The right-hander was held back at extended spring training to begin the year due to a lat injury originally suffered in August of 2018. Civale allowed a home run and did not record a strikeout in his 2019 debut, but just getting back into a competitive setting is a big step forward. He threw 74 pitches and it would not be a surprise if his pitch counts remain limited for the foreseeable future.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Throws short bullpen session

Clevinger (back) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Clevinger remains on the 60-day injured list with a back strain and isn't eligible to return until June 7. He appears to be doing everything he can to make it back by that date, though a clearer picture of his expected return timeline won't emerge until the Indians see how his back responds to regular bullpen sessions.

  • Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA

Mariners' Yusei Kikuchi: Quality start against A's

Kikuchi didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the A's, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings while striking out five.

All three runs scored on solo homers -- in fact, all of Oakland's runs on the night came via five solo shots -- but otherwise Kikuchi was sharp, throwing 66 of 93 pitches for strikes. The southpaw has now delivered three straight quality starts and six in nine full outings on the year, and he'll take a 3.64 ERA and 43:12 K:BB through 54.1 innings into his next start Saturday, at home against the Twins.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Gives up 12 hits in loss

Berrios (6-2) gave up five runs on 12 hits and three walks while striking out three through 5.2 innings, taking the loss to the Angels on Monday.

Berrios was knocked around, allowing 15 baserunners and two home runs in the loss. He only induced four swinging strikes and delivered his worst start of the season. The right-hander has a 6-2 record with a 3.05 ERA through nine starts. Berrios will make his next start Saturday against the Mariners.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Indians' Shane Bieber: Hit hard in loss

Bieber (2-2) gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out six through 6.1 innings, taking the loss against the White Sox on Monday.

It was a tough night for Bieber as he gave up four home runs in his second loss. Homers have been a problem over the last month, as he has given up at least one home run in each of his last five starts. The 23-year-old has a 2-2 record with a 3.81 ERA through eight starts this season. Bieber will make his next start Saturday against the Orioles.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matthew Boyd: Goes four innings in loss

Boyd (4-3) was tagged for three earned runs on five hits and two walks over four innings to take the loss Monday against the Astros. He struck out two.

This was the shortest start of the season so far for Boyd, who gave up two home runs to a potent Houston lineup. The lefty needed 96 pitches to get through his four innings and recorded a season-low two strikeouts. Despite the tough outing, Boyd still has a sparkling 3.15 ERA and 65:13 K:BB through 54.1 innings this season. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is scheduled for Saturday against the Athletics.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Orioles' Alex Cobb: Nearing return to rehab

Manager Brandon Hyde said Cobb (back) will resume his rehab in Florida soon, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Cobb has already been on the IL twice this season due to back issues, so the Orioles figure to proceed cautiously with him. A timetable for his return should come into focus once he's able to ramp up his throwing program.

  • Nestor Cortes SP | PHI

    Yankees' Nestor Cortes: Recalled Monday

Cortes has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The Yankees put Miguel Andujar back on the 10-day injured list with a shoulder injury earlier Monday, so this is the corresponding roster move, per Lindsey Alder of The Athletic. Cortes has pitched in one big-league game this season, giving up four hits and three earned runs in a two-inning appearance.
