Griffin Canning RP | SD
Angels' Griffin Canning: Notches first career win
Canning (1-0) earned the win Tuesday against the Tigers by allowing two runs on four hits across 5.1 innings. He struck out seven and walked one.
Canning made it through five innings with only one hit given up, but the Tigers were able to find some success during the sixth, costing him the quality start. The 22-year-old could be called upon to start again Sunday at Baltimore as Andrew Heaney (elbow) remains on the injured list without a definitive return date.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: Fires seven scoreless innings
Berrios (6-1) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Tuesday by allowing only four hits and no walks while striking out five across seven shutout innings.
Berrios delivered 65 of 92 pitches for strikes as he allowed only one baserunner to reach second base for the game. The 24-year-old continued his fantastic start to the season and now has a 2.53 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 51:8 K:BB, and hasn't issued a walk over his last three starts.

Marco Gonzales RP | TEX
Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Pitches gem in no-decision
Gonzales allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk across six innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old certainly pitched well enough to win and was in line for a victory when he departed, but the Mariners' bullpen blew a three-run lead. If he had won, Gonzales would have moved into a tie for the American League lead in wins. As it is, he's 5-1 with a 3.08 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 39 strikeouts in 52.2 innings this year. Gonzales will again look for his sixth win in his next start at the Red Sox on Sunday.

Lucas Giolito SP | SD
White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Tosses 7.1 scoreless innings
Giolito (3-1) pitched 7.1 shutout innings while allowing just three hits with three walks and eight strikeouts in a victory against the Indians on Tuesday.
The Indians had baserunners in five of the seven complete innings Giolito pitched, but he permitted a runner to reach third base just once. The victory improved Giolito to 3-1, and in his last three starts, Giolito owns a 1.80 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 15 innings. Overall, he has submitted a 4.06 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 38 strikeouts across 31 innings this year. Giolito will look to keep this hot streak going on the road against the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Corey Kluber SP | BOS
Indians' Corey Kluber: Timeline won't be clear for weeks
Kluber doesn't expect his fractured forearm to be season-ending but he won't have a clear sense of his return timetable for several weeks, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Kluber won't need surgery (at least for now) after being hit in the arm by a line drive, but the team won't be able to determine a target return date until they see how the bone heals. The fact that the injury isn't expected to be season-ending is a positive, but the fact that it was necessary to rule that out suggests that his absence could stretch longer than just a few weeks.

James Kaprielian SP | TOR
Athletics' James Kaprielian: Nearing 2019 debut
Kaprielian (shoulder) threw three innings in an appearance at extended spring training Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Kaprielian missed the entire 2016 season with an elbow injury that ultimately required Tommy John surgery, which sidelined him for all of 2017. He was expected to resume pitching at some point in 2018, but that never materialized after he developed a shoulder injury last May. The shoulder issue reared its head again this spring and continues to delay Kaprielian's return to competitive action, but he finally looks to have nearly reached the finish line in his lengthy rehab program. He's expected to complete one more outing at the Athletics' spring training facility in Arizona before heading to a minor-league affiliate.

Gerrit Cole SP | NYY
Astros' Gerrit Cole: Fans nine in win over Royals
Cole (3-4) picked up the win Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings while striking out nine as the Astros downed the Royals, 6-4.
A pair of two-run homers accounted for all the damage off Cole, the second time in the last three starts he's served up multiple long balls. The right-hander remains one of baseball's premier strikeout artists, fanning at least eight batters in seven of his eight trips to the mound this year, and he'll take a 4.17 ERA and 74:15 K:BB through 49.2 innings into his next start Saturday, at home against the Rangers.
-
Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Cruises in victory
Snell (3-3) gave up one hit and no walks while striking out nine through six scoreless innings en route to claiming a win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Snell only allowed one baserunner and had 19 swinging strikes to record his third win. It was nice to see this kind of performance from Snell as he posted a 12.79 ERA in his first two starts since returning from a toe injury. The left-hander has a 3-3 record with a 3.62 ERA and 50:9 K:BB through seven starts this season. Snell will get his next start Sunday against the Yankees.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Knocked around again
Stroman (1-5) gave up six runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out two through 4.2 innings taking a loss against the Twins on Monday.
Stroman allowed 10 baserunners in only 4.2 innings and gave up his first two home runs of the year. He has given up nine earned runs in his last two starts and hasn't made it out of the fifth inning in either appearance. The right-hander has a 1-5 record with a 2.96 ERA through eight starts this season. Stroman will look to bounce back in his next start Saturday against the White Sox.

The left-hander has delivered three consecutive quality starts and has a 20:4 K:BB over that span. He has a 5-0 record with a 2.83 ERA through five starts this season. Perez will make his next start Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader against the Tigers.
