  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Walks five in loss

Perez (2-7) got the loss against the Mariners on Friday, giving up five runs (two earned) on one hit over just 1.2 innings, striking out two and walking five in a 12-6 loss for Texas.

Perez just couldn't find the strike zone in this one, as he issued five free passes and threw 55 pitches before finding himself unable to make it out of the second inning. It's been tough sledding on the whole for the left-hander in 2018, as this blowup brought his ERA up to a bloated 6.22 and his WHIP up to 1.78 over 85.1 innings.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Astros' Gerrit Cole: Delivers quality start in no-decision

Cole (15-5) hurled a quality start in Friday's win over the Orioles despite not factoring into the decision. He went six innings and gave up one run on five hits and a walk while striking out four.

It was another solid outing for Cole, who lowered his ERA to 2.88 and his WHIP to 1.03 while extending his career-high strikeout total to 276. Cole wrapped up what's been an outstanding season in style with his 20th quality start of the year.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Throws strong outing Friday

Clevinger (13-8) earned the win against the Royals on Friday, allowing one earned run, three hits and no walks over 6.2 innings while striking out five.

Clevinger was in command for most of the night, and he was pulled in the seventh inning after allowing a two-out double to Ryan O'Hearn, who eventually came around to score. It took Clevinger 101 pitches to get through 6.2 innings, and he was able to reach 200 innings pitched on the season with Friday's solid outing. Assuming Friday's start was his last appearance of 2018, Clevinger will finish the season with an impressive 3.02 ERA and a 207:67 K:BB ratio over 200 innings.

  • White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Chased early in loss

Giolito (10-13) took the loss in Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Twins on Friday, allowing seven earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two over 1.1 innings.

Giolito couldn't prevent the damage once again, as he's now allowed at least four earned runs in four of his previous five starts. Friday's loss was likely his final appearance of the season, and Giolito owns a disappointing stat line after the 2018 campaign with a 6.13 ERA (5.47 xFIP) and a 125:90 K:BB ratio over 173.1 innings.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Tosses gem, notches win vs. Chicago

Berrios (12-11) allowed one run on three hits and four walks while striking out nine across seven innings, picking up the victory in Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Berrios surrendered his lone run in the third inning on an infield single, but he'd manage to hold Chicago off the scoreboard for the remainder of his outing. The 24-year-old will finish his season with a 3.84 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with a 202:61 K:BB over 192.1 frames.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: Gets another start Saturday

Eovaldi is listed as the Red Sox's starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Yankees, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.

After Eovaldi fanned 10 hitters over five innings to pick up the win in his start Monday against the Orioles, the expectation was that he would shift to the bullpen, where he's expected to work during the postseason. However, with the Red Sox electing to skip Eduardo Rodriguez's final turn through the rotation, Eovaldi will get one more start to close out the regular season. While the matchup with a homer-happy Yankees offense is a challenging one, Eovaldi's recent form -- he's logged a 1.50 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over his last four appearances -- may embolden fantasy owners to roll the dice with him.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Final start confirmed

Paxton will start Saturday against the Rangers, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

The big left-hander will thus have a chance to make a second start after his bout with pneumonia, an outing that will qualify as a career-high 28th of the season. Paxton has worked 154.1 frames thus far, and his goal Saturday would be to get to at least 160 with an eye on hitting the 190-200 range in 2019. Paxton has generated a solid 11-6 record, 3.85 ERA and 1.10 WHIP while battling an assortment of injuries this season, and a win Saturday would equal the career-high 12 he managed in 2017.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Starting second game Saturday

Keuchel will pitch the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Thursday's rainout will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday. Keuchel, who was scheduled to start Saturday, will throw the nightcap after Justin Verlander, originally scheduled to start Friday, will kick off the doubleheader in the afternoon.

  • Astros' Justin Verlander: Starting first game Saturday

Verlander will start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Verlander had been scheduled to pitch Friday, but Thursday's rainout forced the schedule and rotation to be altered. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday. Thursday's starter, Gerrit Cole, will start Friday, while Verlander was pushed to Saturday. Dallas Keuchel will pitch the nightcap of the doubleheader.

  • Marco Gonzales RP | TEX

Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Five effective innings

Gonzales allowed two hits and a walk while striking out six across five scoreless innings Thursday against the Rangers. He did not factor into the decision.

Gonzales ended his breakout 2018 campaign on a strong note, finding the strike zone with 50 of his 70 pitches while holding the Rangers without an extra-base hit. The 26-year-old found his footing in his first full season at the major-league level, ending the season with a 4.00 ERA and 1.22 WHIP while striking out 145 batters across 166.2 innings.
