Brad Keller RP | PHI
Royals' Brad Keller: Wins final start of season
Keller (9-6) picked up the win Sunday against the Tigers, lasting seven innings and giving up just one run on three hits and three walks while striking out a pair. The start will wind up as his final assignment of the season, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Keller retired the first nine batters he faced before allowing a short rally to start the fourth inning. A double play cut that rally short after just one run, and he remained out of serious trouble for the remainder of the outing. He'll finish the season with an excellent 3.08 ERA in 140.1 innings, a superb return for a Rule 5 draft pick.

Charlie Morton SP | ATL
Astros' Charlie Morton: Leaves with shoulder discomfort
Morton was forced from Sunday's game after just one inning due to right shoulder discomfort, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The same injury sent Morton to the disabled list earlier in the season. The severity of this occurrence isn't clear yet, though he has at most one more start left in the regular season, which may now be in doubt.

Charlie Morton SP | ATL
Astros' Charlie Morton: Exits after one inning
Morton allowed one run during a 24-pitch first inning before leaving Sunday's start against the Angels with an apparent injury, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Morton's command was relatively fine (15 of the 24 pitches were strikes), but more concerning is that his velocity seemed to be down. Specifics are currently unclear, and more information should be available sometime Sunday.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Confirmed for Monday's start
The Mariners list Paxton (illness) as their probable starter for Monday's game against the Athletics, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Paxton has been out since Sept. 7 while dealing with symptoms of the flu and pneumonia, but the Seattle ace looks on track to finish the season healthy after completing a 40-pitch bullpen session Friday without incident. He declared himself ready to start again after completing the side session and the Mariners' training staff apparently concurred, as the lefty will kick off the team's seven-game homestand to end the campaign. Paxton will line up for a two-start week, with his second turn expected to come Sept. 29 or 30 against the Rangers.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Orioles' Alex Cobb: Quick exit Sunday
Cobb left Sunday's start against the Yankees after only four pitches due to a blister, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Cobb has been dealing with the blister for most of September, and the issue resurfaced before he could get through a single batter Sunday. The 30-year-old's regular season seems likely to be over with only a week to go.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Feels 'ready to go' after bullpen
Paxton (illness) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Friday and proclaimed himself "ready to go" for a possible start Monday against the Athletics, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
The left-hander actually finished the bullpen session in the rain and said he felt fine in the aftermath Saturday. Manager Scott Servais mentioned Paxton relayed to him he'd gotten a bit fatigued toward the end of his workload but that he didn't feel it would hinder him from taking the hill against Oakland on Monday.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Orioles' Alex Cobb: Cleared for Sunday's start
Cobb (finger) will start Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Cobb will return to the hill for the first time in nearly two weeks after a recurrence of a blister caused him to miss two turns through the rotation. Before experiencing the setback, Cobb had emerged as the Orioles' most dependable starting pitcher, submitting a 2.40 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 48.2 innings over his previous eight starts.

Mike Clevinger RP | PIT
Indians' Mike Clevinger: Fans six in no-decision
Clevinger didn't factor into the decision during Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Red Sox, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks over five innings while striking out six.
The right-hander wasn't at his sharpest, as his control issues caused his streak of quality starts to be snapped at six, but Clevinger still gave up three runs or less for the 12th consecutive start since the All-Star break. He now has a 2.40 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 84:27 K:BB in 71.1 second-half innings. Clevinger will make one more start in the regular season when he takes the mound Friday in Kansas City.

Lucas Giolito SP | SD
White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Loses to Cubs
Giolito (10-12) allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over 6.2 innings, taking the loss to the Cubs on Saturday.
Giolito probably deserved a better fate, but left fielder Ryan LaMarre misjudged a liner that helped extend the Cubs' three-run fifth inning. The 24-year-old right-hander has gone five starts without a win, giving up 20 runs, 27 hits, 11 walks and four home runs over 27.1 innings. His final start of the season is expected to be part of a doubleheader Friday against the Twins.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Astros' Justin Verlander: Bullpen spoils gem
Verlander allowed one hit and struck out 11 over six innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Angels.
Verlander was victimized by the bullpen, which turned a 1-0 eighth-inning lead into a 5-1 deficit, before Houston's bats stormed back to score nine runs in the bottom of the inning. Verlander lowered his ERA to a sparkling 2.60 and posted double-digit strikeouts for a third straight start. He'll get one more outing before the end of the regular season Thursday on the road in Baltimore.
