  • Vidal Nuno SP | WAS

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Throws 49 pitches in third rehab

Nuno (hamstring) started High-A Charlotte's loss to Clearwater on Sunday and allowed an earned run on four hits and a walk over 2.2 innings. He recorded three strikeouts.

Although he wasn't as sharp as in a three-inning, three-hit, four-strikeout scoreless effort versus Bradenton last Tuesday, Nuno encouragingly bumped his workload up to 49 pitches Sunday. That volume would imply the veteran southpaw's arm is appropriately conditioned for a return to big-league action, but it remains to be seen if the Rays will want him to get at least one outing in versus a higher level of competition before activation.

  • Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA

Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Set for bulk of innings Tuesday

Chirinos is scheduled to serve as the long man in Tuesday's "bullpen day" once opener Ryne Stanek exits, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 24-year-old will actually be making his fifth consecutive appearance in a long-reliever capacity, with the last three having come as the second pitcher in on a "bullpen day". Chirinos has enjoyed mixed success in that stretch, allowing nine earned runs on 16 hits over 16.0 innings but securing two wins as well.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Allows one run in spot start

Bassitt allowed one run on four hits and three walks across 4.2 innings Sunday in a no-decison against the Twins. He struck out three.

Officially recalled earlier in the day, Bassitt allowed his share of baserunners but mitigated the damage with eight groundball outs. The only run against him came on a solo home run in the fourth inning but he was unable to record the final out in the fifth inning, which would have qualified him for a win. Bassitt now holds a respectable 3.19 ERA during his time with the A's this season, but he's expected to rejoin Triple-A Nashville after this spot start. That said, he could return when rosters expand in September.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Allows three runs in loss to Athletics

Berrios (11-9) allowed three runs on eight hits with no walks across five innings Sunday while taking the loss against the Athletics. He struck out four.

Berrios settled in after allowing a solo home run in the first inning, but he encountered a bit of trouble again in the fifth when he allowed two runs on three straight hits to begin the frame. He escaped with no further damage done but was lifted prior to the sixth because of an elevated pitch count. Berrios appeared to be turning a corner through the early part of August, but he's failed to go deeper than five innings in any of his last four starts while posting a 5.61 ERA during that span. Things won't get any easier as he faces a resurgent Rangers lineup on the road in his next scheduled start.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Indians' Shane Bieber: Strikes out seven in win over Royals

Bieber (8-2) allowed four runs on six hits with no walks across 5.1 innings Sunday while earning the win against the Royals. He struck out seven.

All the major damage against Bieber came via the long ball, including solo home runs in the first and fourth innings before a two-run shot in the sixth. Luckily, he was spotted a large early lead and escaped with his eighth victory despite the lackluster overall line. Bieber has now posted an impressive 17:2 K:BB in 16 innings over his last three starts, but he also has a 5.63 ERA during that span, thanks in part to four homers allowed. He now owns a 4.52 ERA for the season and will look to improve that figure in a favorable matchup with the Rays this weekend.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Gets 17th win

Severino (17-6) got the win against the Orioles on Sunday, giving up two earned runs on four hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight and walked two in the Yankees' 5-3 victory.

The right-hander had been in a stretch of uncharacteristically rough outings but he's now won back-to-back starts with this solid effort against Baltimore that gave him his 17th win of the year. Even with the recent struggles, he's having a great season, with a 3.27 ERA and 1.14 WHIP to go along with 189 strikeouts over 165 innings.

  • Dylan Bundy SP | NYM

Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Takes loss against Yankees

Bundy (7-13) took the loss against the Yankees on Sunday, giving up four earned runs on six hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking two in Baltimore's 5-3 defeat.

Bundy has been in a tailspin of late, as he'd given up seven earned in each of his last three starts coming into this contest. While he fared a bit better in this contest, the Yankees still got to him for four earned and dealt him his 13th defeat of the season. Overall, Bundy's been a difficult fantasy option to trust this season, mixing the occasional solid line with a handful of blowups that leave him with a bloated 5.37 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 140.2 innings.

  • Framber Valdez SP | DET

Astros' Framber Valdez: Picks up second win

Valdez (2-0) allowed one run on two hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings, picking up the win in a 3-1 victory over the Angels on Sunday.

Valdez won for the second time in as many appearances for the Astros since being called up in the wake of the Lance McCullers (forearm) injury. This was the left-hander's first start -- his first appearance was a 4.1-inning relief job after game-opener Brad Peacock. He's got the two wins, which is good, but Valdez certainly makes life difficult for himself. He walked the leadoff hitter in three of his five innings Sunday and hit three batters during his first outing against the Mariners on Tuesday. With news that McCullers' rehab has slowed, there will be more chances for Valdez, whose next scheduled start is Friday at home against these same Angels, a team that owns a .668 OPS (25th) against left-handed pitching.

  • Michael Kopech SP | LAD

White Sox's Michael Kopech: Collects first MLB win

Kopech (1-0) allowed one run on seven hits while striking out four across six innings as he notched the victory Sunday against the Tigers.

In just his second career start, Kopech produced an impressive outing, as he managed to surrender just one run despite a fair amount of traffic on the bases. Although the sample size is small, Kopech has found success in the big leagues so far, allowing just one run on 10 hits while fanning eight over eight frames. The 22-year-old will face a tough Boston lineup his next time through the rotation, as he's slated to pitch Friday.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: Tagged with loss vs. Rays

Eovaldi (5-6) surrendered six runs (five earned) on eight hits while striking out five over four innings as he took the loss Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Eovaldi got off to a rough start, allowing two runs in the first inning and three more in the third prior to being pulled from the ballgame. He tossed 65 of 89 pitches for strikes, so despite pounding the strike zone throughout his start, he didn't appear to have his best stuff. The 28-year-old will look to bounce back after an unsuccessful outing, as he lines up to face the White Sox on Saturday.
