Framber Valdez SP | DET
Astros' Framber Valdez: Picks up win in MLB debut
Valdez (1-0) picked up a win in his major-league debut Tuesday, allowing one unearned run on two hits, one walk and two hit batsmen while striking out four over 4.1 innings in a 3-2 win over the Mariners.
Valdez, who had been scheduled to start for Triple-A Fresno on Tuesday, was called up to provide length during a game that manager A.J. Hinch planned to be a bullpen start. The 24-year-old left-hander followed game-opener Brad Peacock and stranded two inherited runners to close out the second inning, then navigated a bases-loaded situation in the third. The Astros have a day off Thursday, which allows Hinch to keep his regular starters on normal rest through next Monday. Depending on how the manager wants to handle the rotation the rest of this week, Valdez will next pitch Sunday against the Angels, or either of the first two games of a series at home against the Athletics, which begins Monday.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: Allows one run in no-decision
Berrios allowed one run on four hits in a no-decision against the White Sox on Tuesday, striking out four and walking two in five innings.
The only real blemish on the night for Berrios was a solo home run allowed to Nicky Delmonico in the second inning. He allowed no other extra-base hits and threw 55 of 81 pitches for strikes. Berrios has thrown 14 quality starts in 26 games started this year and sports a 3.69 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and .224 batting average against. The 24-year-old's 161 strikeouts are tied for ninth among AL starters, and he'll look to get back in the win column in his next start against the A's at home.

Michael Kopech SP | LAD
White Sox's Michael Kopech: Throws two scoreless in MLB debut
Kopech struck out four in two scoreless innings Tuesday against the Twins, issuing three hits and no walks.
Kopech made his MLB debut Tuesday, throwing 52 pitches (35 strikes) in the start while allowing no extra-base hits and hitting a batter. Unfortunately, a lengthy rain delay led to an abbreviated outing. The 22-year-old went 7-7 with a 3.70 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 170 strikeouts in 24 starts (126.1 innings) for Triple-A Charlotte prior to his promotion, and he figures to remain with the White Sox pitching staff for the remainder of the year.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: Lit up again
Eovaldi (5-5) gave up four runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out two in 5.1 innings Tuesday against the Indians. He took the loss.
His first two starts with Boston were excellent, but Eovaldi has now given up 27 hits and three walks while allowing nine earned runs in 13 innings over his last three outings. He has also only struck out seven over that span. If the Red Sox allow Eovaldi to stick in the rotation, he could still be useful as a spot starter for those chasing wins, given his team context. But there is significant risk in blindly leaving him in lineups going forward. With the Red Sox shorthanded in the rotation for at least the next 7-to-10 days, Eovaldi will likely stick in the rotation to start Sunday in Tampa Bay, but if he struggles again, he could get bounced when Eduardo Rodriguez (ankle) and Chris Sale (shoulder) return.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Strikes out 11 in win over Royals
Snell (15-5) tossed six innings of one-run ball while earning the win Tuesday against the Royals, allowing four hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts.
Snell threw 66 percent of his pitches for strikes and induced a whopping 23 swinging strikes as he recorded his second highest punchout total of the season. He limited baserunners to great effect and was only scored upon via a solo home run in the fifth inning. Snell had failed to top five innings pitched in any of his previous three starts since returning from the disabled list, so this 101-pitch effort was a good indicator that he's back to full strength. He'll look to produce more of the same this weekend against the Red Sox.

Shane Bieber SP | TOR
Indians' Shane Bieber: Banks impressive win in Boston
Bieber (7-2) gave up three runs on five hits and zero walks while striking out five in 6.1 innings Tuesday in Boston. He picked up the win.
He took a shutout into the seventh inning before things unraveled slightly, but he still managed to secure a quality start and the win. After winning four of his first five big-league starts, Bieber posted a 5.50 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over his next seven starts (37.2 innings). Fantasy owners may have lost faith after that run, but this was an impressive win on the road against an offense that leads the majors with a 117 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. He will look to build on this outing with a much more favorable matchup in Kansas City on Sunday.

Dylan Bundy SP | NYM
Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Allows seven runs to earn loss
Bundy (7-12) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, allowing seven runs on 10 hits over four innings. He struck out three and did not issue a walk.
Bundy never looked comfortable on the mound Tuesday, and was chased after allowing back-to-back home runs to begin the fifth inning. The 25-year-old has allowed seven earned runs in each of his last three starts, giving up a whopping 29 hits across 14.1 innings. He now has a 5.31 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 140 strikeouts over 135.2 innings this season.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Could throw bullpen Thursday
Paxton (forearm) threw for the third straight day Tuesday and could progress to a bullpen session Thursday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Paxton has been extending his throwing distance day-by-day as he hopes to return for next week's series against the Athletics. The swelling in the 29-year-old's forearm has mostly dissipated, but progress remains deliberate as the Mariners monitor how the arm responds to more intensive throwing, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Artie Lewicki SP | ARI
Tigers' Artie Lewicki: Set to visit specialist
Lewicki is scheduled to see an elbow specialist in New York on Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Lewicki is still experiencing pain in his right elbow, so he'll see Dr. Christopher Arnold -- who operated on him in high school -- for a second opinion on the injury. At the moment, the right-hander remains without a clear return timetable.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Still not throwing
Stroman (finger) has yet to resume throwing, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
Stroman is still dealing with the blister issue that sent him to the disabled list over the weekend. A timetable for his return should emerge once he's able to resume throwing. In the meantime, Thomas Pannone will start in his place Sunday.
