  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Orioles' Alex Cobb: Notches third win

Cobb (3-14) allowed one run on seven hits while fanning six across six innings as he secured the victory Wednesday against the Yankees.

Cobb finally managed to snag a victory, as his last winning decision prior to Wednesday's outing dated back to June 5. Despite a 5.83 ERA and 1.54 WHIP through 109.2 frames this season, Cobb has turned it around on the hill of late, surrendering seven runs over 23.1 innings (four starts) while recording 15 punchouts. He'll look to keep it rolling in his next outing, which is slated for Tuesday against Tampa Bay.

  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Roughed up by A's

Stroman (4-8) took the loss Wednesday as the Blue Jays fell 8-3 to the A's, coughing up seven runs on 11 hits and a walk over five innings while striking out six.

His recent run of solid performances ended with a thud, as Stroman gave up more earned runs in this outing than in his last three combined. The right-hander will carry a 5.63 ERA into his next start Tuesday at home against the Red Sox.

  • Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Sharp in no-decision against Cleveland

Mejia didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Cleveland, allowing one hit and three walks over five scoreless innings while striking out two.

The left-hander battled Carlos Carrasco to a standstill for five innings, throwing 45 of 74 pitches for strikes, but once Mejia left the game the Twins bullpen couldn't keep the opposition off the board. He'll next take the mound in a rematch with Carrasco in Cleveland on Tuesday.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Dominates Twins in win

Carrasco (13-5) picked up the win Wednesday, scattering four hits over 7.1 scoreless innings while striking out 10 in a 2-0 win over the Twins.

He retired the first 11 batters he faced, and the only runner to get into scoring position off Carrasco came via a Joe Mauer triple in the sixth inning. The right-hander has now won five straight decisions, and he'll carry a 3.66 ERA into his next start Tuesday at home in a rematch with Minnesota.

  • Casey Mize SP | SD

Tigers' Casey Mize: Dazzles in full-season debut

Mize worked three shutout innings Tuesday in his debut for High-A Lakeland. He ceded a base hit and no walks while striking out four in the outing.

After breezing through his professional debut with the Tigers' Gulf Coast League affiliate last week, Mize moved up a few rungs on the minor-league ladder and looked similarly unfazed. The 21-year-old threw 28 of his 44 pitches for strikes and made use of his full arsenal, including the high-80s splitter that's regarded as his most deadly offering. The Tigers are likely to monitor Mize's pitch and innings counts carefully after he was making regular starts into early June during his junior season at Auburn, with most of his appearances from here on out likely to come in the Florida State League.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Yankees' Sonny Gray: Takes hill against Orioles

Gray (thumb) will toe the rubber versus Baltimore on Wednesday.

As expected, Gray won't miss any time after experiencing some soreness in his right thumb following Thursday's start against Kansas City. He shouldn't face any limitations while facing one of the worst lineups in the league. Across four starts in July, he logged a 3.44 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with a 23:8 K:BB over 18.1 innings.

  • Michael Kopech SP | LAD

White Sox's Michael Kopech: Goes seven innings Tuesday

Kopech allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings for Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

The White Sox have been patient with Kopech, their top pitching prospect who has battled command issues all season. However, the organization might be tempted to bring the right-hander up to Chicago. He's whittled more than a run off his ERA over the last eight starts, a stretch in which Kopech has a 2.66 ERA, and he's walked just four batters over his last 24 innings, a vast improvement on his 5.1 BB/9 in 2018.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

Astros' Charlie Morton: Stops Astros' slide

Morton (12-2) allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Seattle.

Morton received a level of support that had been missing during the team's five-game losing streak, which was snapped Tuesday. Manager A.J. Hinch shuffled a lineup that had hit .190 since the All-Star break and got the desired results. The Astros amassed 15 hits, some timely enough to allow Morton to pitch with a lead and post his 12th win of the season. He's next scheduled to pitch Monday on the road against the Giants.

  • Kyle Gibson SP | BAL

Twins' Kyle Gibson: Takes eighth loss of season

Gibson (5-8) allowed three runs on five hits in a loss to Cleveland on Tuesday, striking out six and walking three in six innings.

Gibson threw his 13th quality start of the season yet ended up with the loss. Gibson now sports a 3.47 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with a 132:53 K:BB in 135 innings. Each of the last two seasons Gibson's ERA has been over 5.00, and his WHIP over 1.50, so this year's numbers are certainly a welcome sight. His next start will be a rematch with the Indians in Cleveland.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Will make Rays debut Wednesday

Glasnow will start Wednesday's game against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Glasnow will make his debut with Tampa Bay on Wednesday, a day after being acquired from Pittsburgh. The 24-year-old is expected to pitch 2-to-4 innings as he adjusts from the bullpen role he filled with the Pirates.
