  • Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI

Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: Moving to Triple-A

The Athletics will promote Luzardo to Triple-A Nashville ahead of his next scheduled start, Julian McWilliams of The Athletic Bay Area reports.

Luzardo has been fantastic since being promoted to Double-A Midland in mid-April, delivering a 2.32 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 84:17 K:BB over 73.2 innings. The 20-year-old will make his 16th and final start at Double-A on Tuesday before making his Pacific Coast League debut. He's unlikely to make the jump to the major-league club this season, but could be a candidate for the Oakland rotation during spring training.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matt Boyd: Dazzles in win Tuesday

Boyd (6-9) pitched eight scoreless innings to record the win Tuesday against the Reds. He allowed four hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Boyd was locked in and delivered his best all-around outing of the season. The eight innings represent a new season high for the lefty, and this was just the second time that he hasn't allowed a run in a start, with the other being a five-inning performance against the Angels on May 28. Boyd has now strung together three straight solid starts, allowing just three earned runs over 19 innings during the stretch. He'll take a 4.22 ERA into his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday in Oakland.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Red Sox's Chris Sale: Put on DL with shoulder inflammation

Sale was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to mild left shoulder inflammation retroactive to Saturday, Jason Mastrodonato of The Boston Herald reports.

This announcement comes as a relative surprise since it isn't exactly clear as to when Sale suffered this injury. He will now miss his upcoming start against the Yankees on Thursday as Brian Johnson is set to take his spot in the rotation. The Red Sox are calling this a "mild" case and they aren't expecting Sale to miss more than one start, so he could be back in action as soon as Aug. 7 against the Blue Jays. In a corresponding move, Brandon Workman was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Dealt to Rays in Archer deal

Glasnow was traded from the Pirates to the Rays on Tuesday along with Austin Meadows and another unnamed player in exchange for Chris Archer, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

At the very least this boosts Glasnow's perceived fantasy value, as the Pirates had tabled his development as a starter and had been using him out of the bullpen all season. In Tampa Bay, he figures to start at some point, although they may ease him in as a reliever initially. Glasnow's stock has faded in recent years, as his shaky control has limited his production as a big-league starter. However, he still has the type of arsenal that would profile near the top of a big-league rotation, and sometimes pitchers his size (6-foot-8) take a while to figure things out from a command/control standpoint. Glasnow has a 4.34 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and a 72:34 K:BB in 56 innings out of the big-league bullpen this season. He has a 7.24 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 69:45 K:BB in 73.1 career MLB innings as a starter, but has been dominant at times in that role in recent years at Triple-A.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Indians' Shane Bieber: Allows four runs in no-decision

Bieber allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks across 6.1 innings Monday in a no-decision against the Twins. He struck out seven.

Bieber allowed two runs on two hits and an error in the second inning before allowing another pair after loading the bases in the fifth. In his defense, both hits in the latter inning were of the infield variety and he battled back to escape the jam before it became worse. Bieber was shelled for seven runs in just 1.2 innings in his previous outing, so this quality start was a positive sign for the rookie moving forward. His ERA sits at 4.73 after some rocky recent outings, but he remains worthy of consideration in fantasy lineups this weekend against the Angels.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Fans five vs. D-backs

Perez surrendered four runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five across five innings as he didn't factor into the decision Monday against Arizona.

Perez was lifted from his outing with a one-run deficit, though the Rangers would rally to get him off the hook for the loss. He's been inconsistent throughout the season, but he's shown potential at times. The 27-year-old looked sharp in his last outing, allowing one run across six innings while punching out four against Oakland. Perez sits with a disappointing 6.50 ERA and 1.97 WHIP with 30 strikeouts over 45.2 innings.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Dominant in return

Paxton (9-4) allowed three hits and no walks while striking out eight across seven scoreless innings to earn the win against the Astros on Monday.

Paxton threw only 82 pitches in his first start since July 12, but that didn't stop him from putting together a dominant effort. He generated nine swinging strikeouts, a relatively low mark given his baseline, though he consistently hammered the strike zone as 59 of his 82 pitches went for strikes. His eight-strikeout effort also brought his strikeout total to 163 for the season, a new career-best. This was undoubtedly an encouraging performance for Paxton and he should be able to pitch with few to no limits for the remainder of the season.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

    Astros' Gerrit Cole: Tough-luck loser

Cole (10-3) allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight across 6.2 innings to take the loss Monday against the Mariners.

Cole carried a no-hitter through 5.2 innings but allowed three consecutive hits in the sixth inning, which accounted for both of his earned runs. Despite an impressive effort on nearly every account, he was outdueled by James Paxton and was dealt only his third loss of the season. That falls in line with his season-long performance, as he ranks among the top-10 in the American League in WHIP (0.98), ERA (2.55), and strikeouts (194).

  • Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Slated to start Wednesday

Mejia will get the start for Wednesday's game against Cleveland, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.

After Lance Lynn was dealt to the Yankees, Mejia will slot into the rotation, as the Twins are in need of a fifth starter. He's made three appearances in the big leagues this season (two starts), posting a 3.65 ERA and 1.62 WHIP with eight strikeouts over 12.1 innings. He'll face a challenging Indians' lineup in his next outing.

  • Lance Lynn SP | STL

Yankees' Lance Lynn: Role uncertain in New York

According to Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com, Lynn could join the Yankees' bullpen initially following Monday's trade from Minnesota.

The Yankees acquired Lynn in exchange for Tyler Austin and Luis Rijo. It seems inevitable that Lynn will make some starts for New York, but he may have to bide his time in the bullpen for now. Lynn posted a 5.10 ERA in 20 starts for the Twins this season, up from 3.43 last year, with a jump in walks (5.5 BB/9) and opponents' hard-hit rate being big factors in his struggles.
