  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Rays' Blake Snell: Lands on DL with shoulder fatigue

Snell was placed on the 10-day DL retroactive to Friday due to left shoulder fatigue. He underwent an MRI on Monday morning, which showed no structural damage, so he's only expected to miss one start, Juan Toribio of The Athletic reports.

Snell will be eligible to return against the Angels on July 31. The left-hander was only able to last three innings during a rough start in Minnesota prior to the break, and he pitched 1.2 innings in the All-Star Game, so it's unclear as to when he began feeling the impact of this injury. The Rays have yet to name a starter in his place for Tuesday's game versus the Yankees, though Chih-Wei Hu was called up from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. Look for Snell to return from the shelf next week.

  • Deck McGuire SP | TOR

Angels' Deck McGuire: Moves back to bullpen

McGuire covered 1.1 scoreless innings in relief Sunday in the Angels' 14-5 win over the Astros. He gave up one hit and two walks in the 35-pitch appearance.

McGuire's previous appearance came July 15 against the Dodgers, when he started a bullpen game for the Angels in the two sides' final game before the All-Star break. With the Angels welcoming back Nick Tropeano (shoulder) from the 10-day disabled list Saturday, McGuire was bumped from the rotation and looks set to stick around in a long-relief role with the big club for the time being.

  • Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Recalled ahead of start

The Twins recalled Mejia from Triple-A Rochester ahead of his scheduled start Monday against the Blue Jays.

Reliever Alan Busenitz was sent back to Rochester to make room on the active roster for Mejia, who is only expected to receive one turn through the Minnesota rotation before having his spot taken by Ervin Santana (finger). In his lone other start with the big club this season back on June 30 against the Cubs, Mejia took a no-decision after giving up four runs on six hits and three walks over four innings.

  • Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Strikes out eight in no-decision

Odorizzi allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk across six innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Royals. He struck out eight.

Odorizzi limited baserunners to great effect in this one and was only scored upon when an error and a walk preceded a two-run double from Alex Gordon in the fifth inning. He threw a solid 67 percent of his pitches for strikes, including 22 swinging strikes as he tied his third-best strikeout total of the season. Odorizzi was roughed up in his previous start, but he's allowed two runs or fewer in four of his last five to bring his ERA down to a still disappointing 4.37 for the year. He'll look to improve that figure this weekend against the Red Sox.

  • Brad Keller RP | PHI

Royals' Brad Keller: Strikes out eight in win over Twins

Keller (3-4) allowed three runs on three hits and two walks across seven innings to earn the win Sunday against the Twins. He struck out eight.

Keller limited baserunners for most of the afternoon, giving up a pair of runs in a fourth-inning rally and another on a solo home run in the eighth. The outing was his second-longest of the season and he notched a new career high in punchouts. Keller struggled to the tune of nine earned runs allowed over 7.1 combined innings in his last two starts, but he's now gone at least seven innings while delivering a quality start in three of his last five. He'll carry a solid 3.20 ERA into next weekend's start against the Yankees.

  • Marco Gonzales RP | TEX

Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Moves to 11-5

Gonzales (11-5) got the win against the White Sox on Sunday, giving up two earned runs on four hits over 6.1 innings while striking out six and walking one in Seattle's 8-2 victory.

The young left-hander continues to roll, as his latest strong effort marked his fourth straight winning decision -- a stretch that has seen him give up just four earned runs and strike out 26 batters over 28.1 innings. At this point, it seems fair to say that Gonzales is in the midst of a breakout campaign, as his 3.38 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 104:23 K:BB are all excellent numbers. He's certainly emerged as a reliable fantasy contributor, although his value would take a hit if the Mariners end up deciding to manage his innings in the second half of the season, as he's coming off Tommy John surgery.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Red Sox's Chris Sale: Fans nine in win

Sale (11-4) tossed six scoreless innings while striking out nine as he picked up the win Sunday against the Tigers.

Sale has been nearly untouchable over his past eight starts, allowing just five runs while fanning 87 across 54 innings. The 29-year-old ace managed to secure his fifth straight victory, with his last loss dating back to June 8 against the White Sox. Sale carries a remarkable 2.13 ERA and 0.87 WHIP with a 197:31 K:BB over 135 frames into his next outing, which is scheduled for Friday against Minnesota.

  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Struggles again in loss

McCullers (10-5) was hit with the loss against the Angels on Sunday, giving up five earned runs on six hits over 4.1 innings while striking out three and walking five as the Astros eventually fell 14-5.

It was a second straight rough outing for McCullers, who gave up six earned and walked five in his last start against the Athletics before following up with another dud against the Angels in this contest. The stretch has pushed his ERA up to 4.01 through 116.2 innings. He'll look to get on track in another division matchup in his next start, which will see him take the mound against the Rangers next Sunday.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels' Andrew Heaney: Cruises to sixth win

Heaney (6-6) got the win against the Astros on Sunday, giving up one earned run on four hits over six innings while striking out four and walking two as the Angels cruised to a 14-5 victory.

Heaney held up his end of the bargain on a day where his team afforded him plenty of run support, picking up his sixth win of the season with his fourth straight quality start. The 27-year-old is having a solid campaign overall, as he's now sporting a 3.66 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 106:32 K:BB through 108.1 innings. He'll take the mound against Seattle next Friday.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Cleared to start after bullpen session

Kluber (knee) completed his normal pre-start bullpen session Friday without issue and will make his first start of the second half Monday against the Pirates, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Kluber's arm slot had drifted in recent starts while he compensated for instability in his right knee, which may have contributed to the right-hander's poor showing in his last outing July 12 against the Yankees (six runs allowed on eight hits and two walks over 7.1 innings). He received an injection in his knee the day after the start to correct the problem, though the treatment prevented him from taking part in the All-Star Game. With 10 days of rest between starts and the shot having provided the desired effect, Kluber should be activated with confidence as he prepares for a two-start week. His second turn is set to come Sunday in Detroit.
