  • Vidal Nuno SP | WAS

Rays' Vidal Nuno: Post-All-Star-break rehab assignment on tap

Nuno (hamstring) isn't expected to be ready for a minor-league rehab assignment until after the All-Star break, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Nuno landed on the disabled list July 4 after suffering his injury while running the bases in a 16-inning marathon victory over the Marlins the prior day. The 30-year-old has proven a valuable addition to the Rays' extensive bullpen, generating a 1.50 ERA and 0.96 ERA over 24 innings across nine appearances since his May 26 debut.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Red Sox's Chris Sale: Strikes out 12 Royals

Sale (9-4) picked up the win against the Royals on Friday, yielding one earned run on five hits over six innings, striking out 12 and walking one as the Red Sox cruised to a 10-5 victory.

It was a standard day at the office for the dominant lefty, who has been absolutely mowing down opposing hitters of late, with five double-digit strikeout efforts to his name over his last six outings. Sale also has a 2.36 ERA to go along with a brilliant 0.89 WHIP through 122 innings and remains one of the most prolific strikeout artists in the game. He'll look to extend his recent run of dominance in his next start, which will see him take the mound against the Rangers on Wednesday.

  • Jason Hammel SP | TEX

Royals' Jason Hammel: Takes sixth straight loss

Hammel (2-11) took the loss against the Red Sox on Friday, getting shelled for eight earned runs on nine hits in just two innings, walking one without recording a strikeout in Kansas City's 10-5 defeat.

Hammel is in the midst of a brutal stretch, as the veteran right-hander has now given up 21 earned runs over 12 innings in his last three starts, ballooning his ERA up to 6.16 and his WHIP to 1.61 through 102.1 innings. This was also his sixth straight losing decision, so Hammel's struggles this season leave him far off the fantasy radar.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Pushed back to Monday

Clevinger will start Monday against the Reds, Joe Noga of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The Indians are going with Corey Kluber and Shane Bieber on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, meaning those with Clevinger active in weekly leagues will go with a zero this lineup period. Clevinger last pitched July 1, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings in a win over the A's. Manager Terry Francona did not give a reason for shuffling his rotation order. "As we go, I'll explain, but I can't really do it ahead of time," Francona said. "It'll become more obvious as we go."

  • Trevor Oaks SP | LAD

Royals' Trevor Oaks: Returns to Triple-A

Oaks was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

Oaks took the loss in a spot start Wednesday and was expected to return to the minors with Ian Kennedy (oblique) not facing an extended absence. The young right-hander will return to the Storm Chasers, where he has a 2.00 ERA and 1.15 WHIP across 76.1 innings this season.

  • Dylan Bundy SP | NYM

Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Activated prior to Friday's start

Bundy (ankle) was activated off the 10-day disabled list ahead of Friday's start at Minnesota.

Bundy has been on the disabled list since late June and missed a few more days than the 10-day minimum, partially so he wouldn't have to hit in a National League ballpark earlier this week. The 25-year-old has a 3.75 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 108 strikeouts across 96 innings this season, but has a 2.60 ERA and 0.98 WHIP and .192 opponent batting average over his last eight starts.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Activated ahead of Friday's start

Carrasco (forearm) was activated off the 10-day disabled list Friday ahead of his start against the Athletics, Nick Camino of Newsradio WTAM 1100 reports.

Carrasco made a rehab start with Double-A Akron followed by a bullpen session last Saturday after spending the last few weeks on the disabled list with a forearm bruise. The 31-year-old had a 4.24 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with a 96:22 K:BB over 91.1 innings prior to sustaining the injury, and he isn't expected to be saddled with a strict limitation on his pitch count in his return.

  • Matt Manning SP | PHI

Tigers' Matt Manning: Shines in first High-A start

Manning tossed five shutout innings and struck out nine while giving up one hit and two walks in his debut Wednesday for High-A Lakeland.

The 20-year-old endured no hiccups in his first start in the Florida State League, allowing only three baserunners while pumping in 64 of 92 pitches for strikes. Dating back to his final two outings at Low-A West Michigan, Manning has ceded just one earned run and has racked up 23 strikeouts in his last 19 innings. He likely won't be under consideration for a full-time appointment to the big leagues until at least 2020, but his big frame (6-foot-6, 190 pounds) and an arsenal that contains multiple plus offerings give Manning top-of-rotation upside if he can continue to make strides with his command and control.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Could return next week

Perez (elbow) allowed one run on six hits while striking out six over 6.1 innings for Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Perez reached 87 pitches (58 strikes) in his third rehabilitation start, which could be his final one. Manager Jeff Banister said if the left-hander's scheduled bullpen session Saturday goes without incident, Perez could rejoin the Rangers next week.

  • Marco Gonzales RP | TEX

Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Six strong innings

Gonzales (9-5) allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out seven across six innings to earn the win Thursday against the Angels.

Gonzales held the Angels to just one extra-base hit -- a double by Mike Trout -- though he didn't work especially efficiently, requiring 102 pitches to complete his six innings. Though he induced an ordinary 11 swinging strikes, Thursday's start marked only the second time in his past 10 starts that he was able to strike out more than one batter per inning. While that detracts from his value, his ratios and wins are enough to make him a solid option in most league formats.
