  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Seven innings, one earned run in win

Kluber (9-1) tossed seven one-run innings while earning the win Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing seven hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

Kluber threw an impressive 66 percent of his pitches for strikes and induced seven groundball outs in this stifling outing. He allowed a run on three hits in the third inning, but he allowed just four baserunners combined over his other six frames and avoided issuing a walk for the fifth straight outing. It was simply the latest in a series of stellar outings for Kluber, who is now tied for the American League lead in victories and sports a 1.96 ERA.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Blasted for seven runs Tuesday

Keuchel (3-8) took the loss Tuesday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out three over 6.2 innings against the Mariners.

Keuchel was tagged for four runs in the first inning and faced a 6-0 hole by the second, so he deserves some credit for still being able to make it all the way into the seventh inning. That's about the only positive to take away from this start, as the lefty matched season worsts with three home runs allowed and just three strikeouts. With a league-leading eight losses, it's been tough sledding all season for the former Cy Young winner and he's now allowed at least four runs in three of his last four starts. He'll try to get back on track Sunday against the Rangers.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Allows one run en route to fifth win

Paxton (5-1) got the win Tuesday, allowing one run on nine hits and a walk while striking out six over 7.2 innings against the Astros.

The nine hits were easily a season high, eclipsing his previous high of six, but he was mostly able to work out of trouble thanks in part to inducing three inning-ending double plays. Paxton was sharp once again, notching his seventh quality start in his last eight turns to lower his ERA to a season-best 2.95. To go along with the sub-3.00 ERA, the lefty boasts an impressive 101:25 K:BB over 82.1 innings. Next up on the docket is a road start Sunday in Tampa Bay.

  • Artie Lewicki SP | ARI

Tigers' Artie Lewicki: Takes loss Tuesday

Lewicki (0-1) took the loss in Tuesday's game against the Red Sox, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits over 3.2 innings. He walked three and struck out two.

Lewicki has been pitching in relief for the Tigers but was thrust into starting duty with both Jordan Zimmermann (shoulder) and Francisco Liriano (hamstring) on the shelf. The 26-year-old got a tough assignment against a stacked Boston lineup at Fenway Park, so it wasn't too surprising to see him struggle a bit in his first big-league start of the season. Lewicki could still pick up another spot start with neither Liriano nor Zimmermann likely to return by the weekend.

  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Continues to make progress

Stroman (shoulder) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Stroman didn't experience any setbacks during his latest throwing session, and he's scheduled to progress to throwing in a game sometime during the week. He's been on the shelf since May 11 with right shoulder fatigue.

  • Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Headed for Tommy John surgery

Montgomery (elbow) is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery Thursday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

It was determined Tuesday that Montgomery will require reconstructive elbow surgery -- a surprise after he progressed to throwing off flat ground Saturday. Montgomery will be forced to miss the remainder of the 2018 season, and likely most of 2019, while rehabbing from surgery. In six starts this season, he posted a decent 3.62 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with a 23:12 K:BB.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Expected to return shortly

Rodon (shoulder) has joined the team and will likely be reinstated from the disabled list sometime this week, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

With Rodon rejoining the team, he appears likely to make his season debut over the weekend against the Red Sox. He made it to 92 pitches in his last rehab start at Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, so it appears he's finally returned to health. Rodon made 12 starts in 2017 for the White Sox, posting a 4.15 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with a 76:31 K:BB across 69.1 innings.

  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Yankees' Domingo German: Allows four runs in loss to Tigers

German (0-4) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks across 6.2 innings while taking the loss Monday against the Tigers. He struck out three.

German gave up some hard contact on the evening and was scored upon in three different innings, including a pair of runs on three hits in the fourth. He was a bit unlucky as the bullpen allowed an inherited runner to score in the seventh, but he was still outdueled by Mike Fiers on the night. German burst onto the scene with a terrific outing roughly a month ago, but he's allowed 19 earned runs across 21 innings over four starts since then. His grasp on a rotation spot could be slipping, but he'll have another chance to right the ship this weekend against the Mets.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Strikes out 10 over eight strong innings

Severino (9-1) tossed eight innings while allowing just one run, earning the win Monday against the Tigers. He allowed four hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts.

Severino was touched up for a run on two hits in the first inning, but he was flat-out dominant as he allowed just two baserunners the rest of the way. He threw a healthy 76 percent of his pitches for strikes, including 17 swinging strikes as he notched double-digit punchouts for the second straight start. Severino now has a 2.20 ERA and a 10.6 K/9 in addition to his American League-leading number of wins. He'll look to keep it rolling this weekend against the Mets.

  • Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA

Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Activated from DL, optioned to Triple-A

Chirinos (forearm) was activated from the 10-day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Chirinos has been on the disabled list since the beginning of May with a forearm strain. He'll join the Bulls for now after making a pair of minor-league rehab starts -- one with Durham and one with High-A Charlotte -- during which he allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking out eight batters across just 4.2 innings. Chirinos compiled a solid 3.71 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB across 26.2 innings with the big club prior to landing the disabled list, so he should be afforded another opportunity with the Rays sooner than later.
