Frankie Montas RP | NYM
Athletics' Frankie Montas: Earns additional start
Montas will start Friday's game against the Royals, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
Montas made his season debut Sunday against the Diamondbacks, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven batters in a solid six innings of work. He should be viewed as a viable fantasy pitching option Friday against a relatively weak Royals offense that sports a sub-.700 team OPS against right-handed pitching.

Marco Gonzales RP | TEX
Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Picks up second straight win Monday
Gonzales (5-3) allowed just one unearned run on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts through 6.2 innings to earn the win Monday over Texas.
As usual, Gonzales nibbled with the fastball and used his changeup and curveball to do most of the dirty work. Of 16 balls in play Monday night, 12 were off the changeup or fastball, and nine of those went for outs. Gonzales gets around his lack of top-end stuff by expertly changing speeds, and it's hard to argue with the effectiveness. Gonzales' ERA is down to 3.60 thanks to a run of three straight starts without an earned run, and he is now 4-1 in his last five decisions. He'll look to stay hot Saturday against the Rays.

Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA
Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Set for rehab start Tuesday
Chirinos (forearm), who fired two scoreless innings in his first rehab start with High-A Charlotte last Thursday, will take the mound for Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander allowed two hits and two walks while recording two strikeouts in the 1-0 victory over Fort Myers, an encouraging start to his rehab assignment. Chirinos is expected to build up his workload Tuesday while also facing a higher level of competition, and he'll likely be reevaluated later in the week to determine if he's ready to be activated from the disabled list.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Astros' Justin Verlander: Notches seventh victory
Verlander (7-2) picked up the win Monday as he allowed one run on five hits while striking out five across 6.2 innings against the Yankees.
Verlander was spotted a three-run lead in the second inning, and he made it through six scoreless innings until surrendering a solo home run to Greg Bird in the seventh. His outstanding 1.11 ERA leads all of baseball, and he's struck out 98 batters across 81.1 innings. The 35-year-old has also shown excellent command of late, allowing just two walks in his last three starts (21.2 innings). Verlander figures to make his 13th start of the 2018 season Saturday against Boston.

Domingo German SP | PIT
Yankees' Domingo German: Hit with loss Monday
German (0-3) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out seven across 5.2 innings as he took the loss Monday against the Astros.
German got off to a rough start after allowing a three-run blast to J.D. Davis in the second inning, but he settled down and came within one out of turning in a quality outing. He's yet to notch his first victory of the 2018 season, and he's accrued a 5.45 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 41 strikeouts across 34.2 innings. German's next start is slated for Saturday against the Orioles.

Lance Lynn SP | STL
Twins' Lance Lynn: Beats Royals with quality start
Lynn (3-4) allowed two runs on six hits and three walks across six innings to earn the win Monday against the Royals. He struck out five.
Lynn worked around trouble on several occasions and was unscathed other than a two-run rally which included a pair of doubles in the fifth inning. He needed just 91 pitches (53 strikes) to work through six innings but wasn't brought back out for the seventh, though he recorded his second straight quality start. It's been a rough season for Lynn for the most part, but he's shown signs of life of late and will look to keep it going this weekend against the Indians.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Tigers' Matt Boyd: Solid in win Monday
Boyd (3-4) tossed five innings of scoreless ball to record the win Monday against the Angels. He allowed two hits and three walks while striking out four.
After leaving his last start on May 22 in the fifth inning with oblique spasms, this was a very positive effort for the 27-year-old lefty, who looked fully healthy and dominated a tough lineup. Perhaps the only negative was that it took Boyd 102 pitches to get through five innings, which kept him from going deeper into the game. Nonetheless, he'll carry a strong 3.00 ERA into his next start, which is scheduled for Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Orioles' Alex Cobb: Bounces back with quality outing
Cobb (1-7) took the loss Monday against the Nationals, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks across seven innings. He struck out three.
Cobb's struggles with the long ball continued -- a three-run homer from Anthony Rendon in the third inning accounted for all of the runs against him and brought his HR/9 rate to 1.75 on the season -- but Monday was a nice bounce-back effort for the most part, as the 30-year-old completed seven innings for the first time all season after allowing six runs across just 3.2 innings in his previous start. While the right-hander now owns an unsightly 6.80 ERA and 1.81 ERA through nine starts this season, he's put together four quality efforts across six starts in May, suggesting he could be working past his early season woes. He'll look to build off of Monday's quality effort in his next start, which is set for a difficult home matchup against the Yankees.

Shane Bieber SP | TOR
Indians' Shane Bieber: Set for big-league debut Thursday
Bieber will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start Thursday against the Twins, Robert Murray of FanRagSports.com reports.
The Indians are looking to give Trevor Bauer an extra day of rest following his 127-pitch outing against the Astros on Sunday, so Bieber will be summoned from the minors to make his major-league debut in the form of a spot start. The 22-year-old prospect owns an impressive 1.10 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and 61:3 K:BB across 65.1 innings (10 starts) split between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus this season. He'll likely head back to the minors following Thursday's outing, though a strong showing could earn him another opportunity with the big club sooner than later.
