Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: Strikes out 10 in win
Berrios (4-4) got the win Tuesday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk while striking out 10 over 7.1 innings against the Cardinals.
Berrios allowed just a pair of singles in the third inning and induced 16 swings and misses, as he looked sharp from start to finish in this one. It's been boom-or-bust thus far for Berrios -- he's gone at least seven innings with either zero or one run allowed in four starts, but has given up at least four earned in his five others with seven homers allowed in those starts. The inconsistency can be a bit frustrating at times, but when he's in control the returns have been terrific so far. He'll look the carry the momentum into another strong start Monday against the Tigers.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Successful bullpen Tuesday
Eovaldi (elbow, rib) threw a bullpen session at Tropicana Field without setbacks Tuesday and will make his next rehab start with Triple-A Durham on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
It remains to be seen if the Friday outing will be Eovaldi's final rehab appearance, or if he'll take the mound at the minor-league level one last time before heading to the big-league club. Eovaldi's third rehab appearance was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but that was postponed due to a rib strain.

Neil Ramirez RP | CLE
Indians' Neil Ramirez: Summoned to majors
Ramirez had his contract purchased from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Ramirez will take the roster spot of Bradley Zimmer (chest), who was sent to the disabled list in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old owns a solid 2.55 ERA and 31:3 K:BB across 17.2 innings with the Clippers this season, but his 7.18 ERA across 31.1 big-league innings in 2017 will likely limit him to lower-leverage situations during his time with the big club.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Rangers' Martin Perez: Likely facing extended absence
Perez (elbow) isn't expected to return from the 10-day disabled list in the near future and could be sidelined until after the All-Star break, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
The Rangers haven't revealed an official timetable for Perez's return from the DL, but it's clear that the organization intends to give the 27-year-old some extended time off in order for his right (non-throwing) elbow to fully heal. After fracturing a bone in the elbow in December and requiring surgery, Perez rehabbed aggressively and was cleared to make his season debut in early April, making only five starts before experiencing renewed discomfort. With Perez not on track to begin a throwing program anytime soon and expected to require 3-to-4 minor-league rehab starts before being activated, he's likely looking at a mid-June return in a best-case scenario.

Griffin Canning RP | SD
Angels' Griffin Canning: Contributes to second no-hitter of season
Canning struck out eight and walked two over 4.1 scoreless innings as part of a combined no-hitter in Double-A Mobile's 9-0 victory Monday over Birmingham.
It's the second time this season that Canning has contributed to a combined no-hitter after previously keeping Montgomery out of the hit column for five innings in his third appearance for Mobile back on April 28. Unlike in that outing, Canning exhibited much better control Monday, though his 4.6 BB/9 rate since moving to the Southern League still remains a bit of an eyesore. Canning's ability to effectively mix four offerings should make him a plus source of strikeouts as he continues his climb through the minor-league ranks, but he'll probably need to curb the free passes in order to project as anything more than a mid-rotation arm once he reaches maturity.

Andrew Heaney RP | LAD
Angels' Andrew Heaney: Picks up second win Monday
Heaney (2-2) struck out 10 over eight innings and allowed just one run on four hits and a walk in a victory Monday against the Astros.
Heaney not only turned in his best start of the season Monday night, he did so against one of the best lineups in the American League. He completed more than six innings and struck out more than nine for the first time this season. Since a disastrous outing his second time out against San Francisco (4.1 innings, seven earned runs), Heaney has allowed just five earned runs in 25 innings (1.80 ERA) with 26 strikeouts against six walks. The 27-year-old is looking as strong as he ever has in his career and will try to stay hot Saturday against the Rays.

Lance McCullers SP | MIL
Astros' Lance McCullers: Takes loss against Angels
McCullers (6-2) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts through six innings but took a tough loss Monday against the Angels.
After a slow start the season, McCullers now has five quality starts in his past six outings. McCullers had his changeup working wonders Monday night, as it induced nine swinging strikes on 27 offerings. For the fourth time in four seasons, McCullers is striking out more than a batter per inning -- after nine outings this year, he's up to 58 strikeouts in 52 innings. He'll look to stay hot Sunday against Cleveland.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Strikes out seven in no-decision
Odorizzi took a no-decision Monday against Seattle despite throwing six shutout innings with seven strikeouts and allowing just four hits and a walk.
Odorizzi was matched inning-for-inning by his opposite starter, Wade LeBlanc, but this was still one of his best starts of the season. He has been sharp this season with a 3.35 ERA, but this marked just the fourth time so far that Odorizzi has managed to complete the sixth inning. The seven strikeouts wound up just one shy of a season high as Odorizzi's fastball was electric, inducing seven swinging strikes in 60 offerings and setting up his splitter beautifully. He'll look to complete his two-start week on a high note Sunday against Milwaukee.
-
Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Suffers second loss
Carrasco (5-2) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 6.2 innings in a loss Monday to the Tigers.
Carrasco tossed his second straight quality start, his sixth in nine outings this season. As usual, his breaking pitches were nasty, as his curveball and slider combined to induce eight swinging strikes in 46 offerings. The only problem with Carrasco's season thus far is that when he has been bad, he has been awful -- in his three non-quality starts, he has surrendered 15 earned runs on five home runs, and that's why he owns just a 3.66 ERA despite how fantastic he can be when he's on his game.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Could still return in May
Eovaldi (elbow, rib) will throw a bullpen session at extended spring training Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Eovaldi, who has been sidelined all season after undergoing arthroscopic right elbow surgery at the end of March, was scratched from his upcoming rehab start with Triple-A Durham after suffering a strained rib muscle. Despite the setback, however, the Rays are optimistic he could still return before June if he makes just one rehab start instead of two. He'll need to get through Tuesday's bullpen session without any setbacks first.
