  • JC Ramirez SP | LAA

Angels' JC Ramirez: Activated from DL

Ramirez (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day DL on Monday.

Ramirez missed the final month and a half with an elbow injury, but initial tests yielded favorable results and a recent follow-up exam was positive as well, so he would seem on track for the start of camp. The right-hander was able to hold his own in a starting role last season, thanks in large part to an altered pitch mix.

  • Alex Meyer SP | LAA

Angels' Alex Meyer: Reinstated from DL

Meyer (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day DL on Monday.

This is simply a bookkeeping transaction, as there is no DL in the offseason. Meyer will still miss the 2018 season as he recovers from shoulder surgery.

  • Paul Blackburn RP | NYY

Athletics' Paul Blackburn: Reinstated from DL

Blackburn (wrist) was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Blackburn's season was cut short in August after he took a comebacker off his wrist. The right-hander, who turned in a 3.22 ERA over 58.2 innings last season despite unsightly peripherals (2.5 percent K-BB), should compete for a roster spot in spring training.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Has option picked up for 2018

Perez's $6 million team option for the 2018 season was picked up by the Rangers on Monday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

As expected, Perez's team option was exercised for the upcoming season. Working out of the middle of the Rangers' rotation in 2017, Perez went 13-12 with a 4.82 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. While this was a bit of a step back from his 2016 marks of 4.39 and 1.41, respectively, the 26-year-old started more than 30 games (32) for the second consecutive season.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Rays' Alex Cobb: Will get qualifying offer

Cobb will receive a qualifying offer from the Rays, Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.com reports.

Cobb finished the year with a 3.66 ERA over 179.1 innings pitched, seemingly deserving of the $17.4 million offer. The Rays will expect the 30-year-old to be a key contributor in their starting rotation if he chooses to accept the offer.

  • Myles Jaye SP | CLE

Tigers' Myles Jaye: Placed on waivers

Jaye was placed on waivers by the Tigers on Thursday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Jaye spent the majority of his 2017 season with Triple-A Toledo, but he did receive a September callup, posting a 12.08 ERA over 12.2 innings (including two starts). The 25-year-old will open the 2018 season in the minors with his sights set on working his way back into the big-league bullpen.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Has option picked up

Eovaldi (elbow) will have his $2 million 2018 club option exercised, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Eovaldi missed all of 2017 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but the Rays felt he was worth bringing back in 2018 given the small amount of money he's owed. The 27-year-old -- who was reinstated from the 60-day DL on Thursday, per Topkin -- is expected to be fully healthy heading into spring training, where he'll compete for a rotation spot. When he last pitched in 2016, Eovaldi posted a 4.76 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 124.2 innings before undergoing Tommy John surgery in August.

  • Drew Smyly SP | CHC

Mariners' Drew Smyly: Returns from 60-day DL

Smyly (elbow) was taken off the 60-day DL and added to the Mariners' 40-man roster Thursday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

This is just a housekeeping move by the organization, as David Phelps (elbow) was also reinstated from the 60-day DL and placed on the team's active roster. In terms of Smyly, the southpaw is still expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2018 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in July.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Red Sox's Chris Sale: Club picks up 2018 option

Sale will remain with Boston in 2018 after the club exercised its $12.5 million option Thursday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

In the least surprising move of the offseason, the Red Sox picked up Sale's option to keep the southpaw for another season. In addition, Boston did the same with closer Craig Kimbrel, locking up the star pitchers through 2018.

  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Will start Game 7

McCullers will start Game 7 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Wednesday, Erik Boland of Newsday Sports reports.

With the Dodgers pulling out a 3-1 victory in Game 6 on Tuesday, the series heads to a final matchup Wednesday, where McCullers will get the call to take the mound in a do-or-die situation. In his previous start during Game 3, McCullers pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits, while also tallying four walks and three strikeouts.
