Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Heading to Triple-A Durham
Eovaldi (elbow) will make his second rehab appearance for Triple-A Durham on Wednesday in Game 2 of the International League championship series, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Eovaldi fired a scoreless inning in which he recorded two strikeouts in his first rehab appearance last Saturday for High-A Charlotte. The 27-year-old right-hander started that contest, but Wednesday's appearance is scheduled to come in relief. The Rays will soon make a decision whether Eovaldi will return to big-league game action this season, or whether they'll hold him out until spring training 2018.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Astros' Justin Verlander: Razor sharp in win over Angels
Verlander (12-8) held the Angels scoreless over eight innings Tuesday, allowing just a single hit, a walk and a hit batsman to take home a 1-0 win. He struck out nine.
His first two starts as an Astro have been masterpieces, but Verlander's hot streak actually stretches back into early July -- over his last 13 starts, the veteran righty has put up a 100:22 K:BB alongside a 2.05 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Verlander has won seven of his last eight decisions, and with a soft matchup coming up Sunday against a Seattle club that he's held to five earned runs over the course of four starts (26.1 innings) this season, there's no reason to expect him to slow down now.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Tigers' Matt Boyd: Outdueled by Kluber on Tuesday
Boyd (5-10) took the loss against Cleveland on Tuesday, giving up only one run on six hits and a walk over five innings while striking out five.
Unfortunately for the left-hander, Corey Kluber was on the mound for the Tribe, and Francisco Liriano's leadoff shot in the first inning was all the offense Cleveland's ace would need in a 2-0 win. Boyd hasn't managed to produce a quality start in his last nine trips to the mound, posting a 6.58 ERA over that stretch, but he'll try to build on this performance in his next outing Sunday at home against the White Sox.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Strong effort in Tuesday's no-decision
Snell didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Yankees, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over five innings while striking out five.
The left-hander threw 51 of 83 pitches for strikes, but didn't stick around long enough to benefit from Adeiny Hechavarria's game-winning solo shot in the bottom of the eighth inning. Snell has now given up two runs or fewer in four of his last five outings, posting a 2.73 ERA and 28:8 K:BB in 29.2 innings over that stretch. He'll take the mound again next Tuesday at home against the Cubs.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Yankees' Sonny Gray: Strikes out nine in complete-game loss Tuesday
Gray (9-10) took the loss against the Rays despite pitching a complete game Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out nine over eight innings.
Unfortunately for the right-hander, two of those hits were solo shots by Kevin Kiermaier and Adeiny Hechavarria, and the Yankees weren't able to produce much offense against Blake Snell and the Rays' bullpen. Gray now has a 2.66 ERA and 49:17 K:BB in 50.2 innings over eight starts since being traded from Oakland, and he should be poised for another strong outing Sunday at home against the reeling Orioles.

Eduardo Rodriguez SP | ARI
Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Fans nine in Tuesday's win
Rodriguez (5-5) coasted to a win Tuesday, allowing one run on one hit and four walks over six innings while striking out nine in an 11-1 rout of the A's.
After giving up an RBI double in the first inning to Jed Lowrie, Rodriguez settled down and watched the Red Sox's offense slip into high gear. The lefty has now produced two straight quality starts in September after a rough end to August, but he's struck out at least five batters in 12 straight outings since the beginning of June, posting a 76:24 K:BB in 67 innings over that stretch despite a lackluster 5.37 ERA. Rodriguez will try to keep things rolling Sunday on the road against the Rays.

Marco Gonzales RP | TEX
Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Picks up first win of season Tuesday
Gonzales (1-1) notched his first win of the season Tuesday against the Rangers. He allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings.
Gonzales made his last start on Aug. 2 and was operating on 10 days of rest Tuesday after the Mariners decided to skip his last scheduled start following the acquisition of Mike Leake. Though Gonzales allowed nine baserunners in his five innings of work, the 25-year-old was able to limit the Rangers to three runs and put his team in line for the win. The southpaw's future role is a bit unclear at this time; it seems likely he will shift back to the bullpen following Tuesday's start with Felix Hernandez (shoulder) and James Paxton (pectoral) returning later this week.

Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Twins' Kyle Gibson: Blanks Padres over six innings to secure win
Gibson (10-10) tossed six scoreless innings in Tuesday's win over the Padres. He allowed four hits and struck out six.
The Twins' offense afforded Gibson a seven-run lead over the first two innings and the 29-year-old was able to cruise from there. He was dominant in his six innings of work, allowing just four Padres to reach base before being pulled from the lopsided contest after throwing just 74 pitches. Gibson has now recorded five consecutive quality starts and is proving to be a fairly reliable fantasy starting pitching option against weaker opponents. He lines up for a Sunday start against the Blue Jays, a team that he held to just two runs over 6.2 innings during his Aug. 27 start.
-
Dylan Bundy SP | NYM
Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Left with no-decision in quality start
Bundy allowed just one run on five hits and a walk while striking out eight Blue Jays in a no-decision Tuesday.
Closer Zach Britton gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to allow Toronto to walk off with Bundy's win. Despite the disappointment, the right-hander continued his late-season success as Bundy notched his sixth quality start in his last seven games. He'll take a 4.03 ERA and 1.18 WHIP into his next start Sunday against the Yankees.

Corey Kluber SP | BOS
Indians' Corey Kluber: Tames Tigers with shutout Tuesday
Kluber (16-4) tossed a complete-game shutout Tuesday, allowing five hits and no walks while striking out eight Tigers.
The Indians' ace pushed the team's winning streak to 20 games while facing just three batters over the minimum Tuesday. Over his last nine starts, Kluber is 8-1 with 74 strikeouts -- the most punch outs for any MLB pitcher since Aug. 1 -- and has arguably taken control of the AL Cy Young race. He'll carry a sparkling 2.44 ERA into Sunday's contest at home against the Royals.
