Lucas Giolito SP | SD
White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Fans 10 Rays in win
Giolito (2-1) allowed a single run on three hits and a walk while striking out 10 batters through seven innings during Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.
The young righty was spot on Sunday and pitched a gem. It was a glimpse at his immense upside, and Giolito has now allowed just a single run through 14 innings over his past two starts. He's unlikely to flawlessly cruise through his remaining starts, but a strong finish to the season appears to already be underway. Giolito should be owned and started in the majority of settings entering his upcoming start against the Giants.

Jordan Montgomery RP | TEX
Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Will start Monday
Montgomery is listed as the Yankees' probable starter for Monday's game against the Orioles, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Jaime Garcia was initially in line to start Monday, but with the veteran struggling to the tune of a 5.11 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in his five outings in pinstripes, manager Joe Girardi may have reconsidered his back-end rotation spots count. Since the Yankees are eager to limit Montgomery's innings, the rookie probably won't be a viable replacement for Garcia throughout the final month of the season and could face a limited pitch count in any starts he does make.

Marco Gonzales RP | TEX
Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Could earn another rotation look
Gonzales could receive another trial in the Mariners' rotation after tossing four scoreless innings in relief in Saturday's victory over the Athletics, Bob Dutton of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
After Yovani Gallardo failed to escape the third inning to put the Mariners in an early hole, Gonzales came up big in his first appearance out of the bullpen, striking out five batters while conceding two hits and no walks as Seattle scored a come-from-behind victory. Though Gonzales submitted an ugly 7.40 ERA and 1.98 WHIP over his previous five starts in August with Seattle, his numbers weren't dramatically worse than what Gallardo has posted in a starting role this season, so the Mariners may be motivated to see if the 25-year-old can demonstrate some improvement in a second trial in the rotation. Manager Scott Servais wouldn't commit to starting Gallardo during the Mariners' series with the Angels next weekend, so the team brass will likely think things over during the next couple of days before determining if Gonzales would be a better option.

Alec Asher SP | MIL
Orioles' Alec Asher: Sent to Double-A
Asher was optioned to Double-A Bowie on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Asher is expected to serve in a starting role for Bowie for the duration of its Eastern League playoff run. Once the postseason concludes, Asher should rejoin the Orioles and work in long relief. The big club recalled Gabriel Ynoa from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move to offer additional depth out of the bullpen while Asher is with Bowie.

Artie Lewicki SP | ARI
Tigers' Artie Lewicki: Added to 40-man roster ahead of Monday start
The Tigers selected Lewicki's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.
Detroit will bring Lewicki aboard a day in advance of his scheduled start Monday against the Royals, which will mark his MLB debut. With the Tigers having traded away Justin Verlander to the Astros and Michael Fulmer (elbow) potentially being shut down for the season, Lewicki looks like a decent bet to see additional starts beyond Sunday. However, fantasy owners in most mixed formats will probably want to see how the 25-year-old performs in his first taste of the big leagues before scooping him up off the waiver wire. After opening the season with Double-A Erie, Lewicki earned a promotion to Toledo in August and was quite impressive in his five starts with the affiliate, delivering a 2.10 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB over 30 frames.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Gives up just one run despite control woes
Rodon lasted just four innings Saturday against the Rays, although he allowed just one run on two hits and three walks while striking out four. He didn't factor into the decision.
The young southpaw didn't give up much to the Rays' offense, but his outing was cut short given that he required 69 pitches (41 strikes) just to get through the four frames. Despite a hiccup in his last start, Rodon has been excellent lately, producing a 3.00 ERA with a 45:13 K:BB in his past seven starts. He'll make his next start in the team's upcoming series with the Indians.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Orioles' Wade Miley: Stuck with loss despite six-strikeout effort
Miley (8-11) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Blue Jays after allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in six innings of work. He also struck out six.
The southpaw was humming along before giving up a solo home run to Kevin Pillar in the fifth, but he wound up producing a solid outing despite landing in the loss column. Since the start of August, Miley has been one of the better starters for the Orioles, producing a 2.67 ERA and 32 strikeouts in six starts. He'll look to continue this good stretch of starts when he takes the hill Saturday in Cleveland.

Corey Kluber SP | BOS
Indians' Corey Kluber: Continues dominance in Saturday win
Kluber (14-4) shined Saturday against the Tigers, allowing just one run on eight hits while striking out seven in eight innings of work en route to the victory.
This marked the second consecutive outing in which the Klubot went eight innings and the seventh start in a row with three or fewer runs allowed. The only blemish on the evening was an RBI single in the seventh inning, but everything else about his evening was fairly low stress. Kluber's ERA now sits at a stellar 2.56 mark, a figure he'll look to improve further in his next start Thursday against the White Sox.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Finally hitting stride at big-league level
Snell, who allowed just one unearned run on six hits and a walk over 6.2 innings while picking up his third win Friday versus the White Sox, is 3-0 with a 1.91 ERA over 33 innings in his five starts since being recalled from Triple-A Durham on Aug. 8.
The promising lefty's impressive body of work since his promotion also includes a .193 BAA, 0.97 WHIP and .251 wOBA allowed. However, one of the most important metrics is Snell's 2.5 BB/9, which, while still in need of improvement, reflects significant progress from the 5.1 figure he'd generated in 72.1 innings before his current big-league stint. Snell's control has been the biggest hindrance to him developing consistency against major-league hitters, but he's certainly providing reason for cautious optimism at the moment.

Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI
Angels' Ricky Nolasco: Fans six in no-decision
Nolasco gave up three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against the Rangers on Saturday.
It wouldn't be a Nolasco start with at least one homer allowed -- Carlos Gomez touched him up, Nolasco's 33rd allowed this season (second most in baseball). Nolasco's ERA has hovered around 5.00 for most of the year and the underlying numbers don't offer much hope for improvement over the season's final month. He lines up to face the Mariners his next time out.
