  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Athletics' Sonny Gray: Set to face hitters Thursday

Gray (back) will throw to hitters on Thursday, Joe Stiglich of NBC Sports California reports.

Manager Bob Melvin said Gray's bullpen session Monday went off without a hitch, clearing the way for him to throw two 15-pitch sessions to live batters Thursday. If all goes well, he could enter a rehab assignment shortly.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

White Sox's Jose Quintana: Gets no support Sunday

Quintana allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out seven over 6.1 innings in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Twins.

Quintana was much better Sunday than he was during his Opening Day start when he allowed three home runs and six runs over 5.1 innings. He pitched well enough for the win Sunday but got little support from his mates who had just two hits and never put a runner in scoring position while he was pitching. Getting little run support might be a recurring theme this season for Quintana. The best thing that can happen for fantasy owners is for the White Sox to trade him to a playoff contender.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Records first victory of season Sunday

Perez (1-1) fired 5.1 scoreless innings in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Athletics, surrendering six hits and three walks. He also struck out six.

Perez encountered some control problems, which led to a count of 92 pitches by the time he exited in the sixth. However, he was otherwise effective, continuing a trend of success in daytime starts at Globe Life Park. Factoring in Sunday's production, Perez is 7-0 with a 1.48 ERA over eight afternoon home games since the beginning of the 2014 season. He'll look to notch a second straight win when he takes on Felix Hernandez and the Mariners in a road start Friday night.

  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Fans 10 in no-decision Sunday

McCullers allowed three runs on six hits and didn't walk a batter while striking out 10 over seven innings in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning victory over Kansas City.

McCullers commanded his pitches well and put forth a second straight strong outing, though he might dwell on the execution of pitches that Salvador Perez and Mike Moustakas hit over the fence. He's struck out 17 and walked just two over 13 innings and is cruising toward his next scheduled start Saturday in Oakland.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Loses Sunday to Arizona

Kluber (0-1) was effective but took the loss Sunday after allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out four against Arizona.

The All-Star was cruising early but ran into trouble in the fourth inning. After recording two quick outs, Kluber allowed three straight singles that led to a pair of runs, one of which was the result of catcher Yan Gomes' throwing error. Kluber also surrendered a solo home run in the sixth, his fourth long ball given up over 12 innings this season. He'll look to get on track and capture his first win of 2017 when he takes the hill for his next start Saturday versus Detroit.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Holds Yankees scoreless despite walking seven

Miley (illness) tossed five innings of shutout ball with one hit, seven walks and five strikeouts Sunday against the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.

Miley delivered a truly unique start after being activated from the disabled list earlier in the day, routinely escaping trouble despite throwing just 56 percent of his pitches for strikes and allowing a single for the only hit on his ledger. He left with a chance at a victory, but the Yankees took over in the latter stages and wound up with a comfortable win. Walks have always been a part of Miley's game, and results such as this will surely be hard to come by if he continues to miss the strike zone with such regularity. He will need to execute more effectively in his next start Friday against the Blue Jays.

  • Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Allows two runs in win over Blue Jays

Odorizzi (1-1) allowed just two runs on two hits and one walk across six innings of work in Sunday's win over the Blue Jays. He struck out four.

The entirety of the damage against Odorizzi was done in the first inning on a home run from Josh Donaldson and an RBI groundout from Troy Tulowitzki. Still, he settled down beautifully afterward and did not allow another baserunner over his next five frames. He has allowed three home runs through his first two starts, bloating his ERA to 4.50 through 12 innings, but Sunday's outing should provide him some confidence heading into Saturday's matchup with the Red Sox.

  • Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI

Angels' Ricky Nolasco: Takes no-decision Saturday

Nolasco held the Mariners to two runs on four hits over six innings Saturday. He walked one and struck out three but did not factor in the decision.

The veteran was able to notch his first quality start of the season after missing the cutoff by one out in his last outing. Home runs continue to be an issue for the 34-year-old, as he gave up another one after surrendering two on Opening Day. Nolasco, however, limited the damage elsewhere, preserving his deep-league value for his next start against the Rangers at home on Thursday.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Activated ahead of Sunday start

Miley (illness) was activated from the 10-day disabled list and will start Sunday's game against the Yankees, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Coming out of spring training, the Orioles placed Miley on the DL with an upper-respiratory infection, but that was likely just a means to create roster flexibility with the team not requiring a fifth starter until Sunday. Miley was able to toss a simulated game a few days earlier to stay fresh during his time on the DL, so he shouldn't face any limitations with his pitch count Sunday. That being said, Miley won't represent a roster-worthy option outside of deep mixed and AL-only formats after churning out a career-worst 5.37 ERA over 166 innings with the Mariners and Orioles a season ago.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Struggles with bottom of order Saturday

Rodriguez allowed four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five over five innings in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Tigers.

Rodriguez handled the Tigers' dangerous bats at the top of the order but got into trouble with the lower third. James McCann, JaCoby Jones and Jose Iglesias combined for two home runs, two doubles and four runs. Rodriguez next lines up for a home start Thursday against the Pirates.
