  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Strong outing in regular season finale

Gausman helped the Orioles clinch a playoff spot by holding the Yankees to two runs in 7.1 innings Sunday while earning his ninth win of the season.

Gausman finished the season on a high note after a couple of subpar starts in his last two outings. He had just three strikeouts, but he induced a season high 13 ground balls. Brian McCann connected for a home run, but Gausman's ability to keep the ball on the ground was his strong suit Sunday. Gausman figures to be a part of Baltimore's postseason rotation, though he likely will not pitch in the Wild Card game against the Blue Jays.

Mariners' Taijuan Walker: May undergo offseason surgery

Walker may decide to undergo offseason surgery due to issues with his right foot, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Walker's season is officially over, but he may have a more eventful offseason than others. As of now, there's nothing suggesting the issue could carry over into 2017.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Rough outing in Saturday no-decision

Severino didn't factor into the decision against the Orioles on Saturday, giving up three earned runs on five hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out three.

The right-hander was touched up by Manny Machado for a solo shot in the third, which was preceded by a Michael Bourn two-RBI single in the second. Severino's up-and-down sophomore campaign saw him regress in virtually every category. He wraps up 2016 with an unsightly 3-8 record and 5.83 ERA.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Solid in Saturday no-decision

Miley didn't factor into the decision against the Yankees on Saturday, but he struck out nine while also giving up three earned runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings.

That's back-to-back encouraging outings for the veteran southpaw, whose 2016 has been a veritable rollercoaster. Miley closes out the regular season by surrendering only four earned runs over the 14.2 innings encompassing his last two starts, while mowing down an impressive 20 hitters over that span. Although his 9-13 record and 5.37 ERA this season leave much to be desired, he could play an important role in the postseason if given the opportunity, thanks to his recent performances.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Strikes out nine over five innings versus Toronto

Rodriguez was a strikeout master again, punching out nine batters, but he also walked five in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Saturday. He allowed three runs on three hits in his five frames.

The south paw finishes the year with 22 strikeouts in his final 10.1 innings, but the five walks leaves a slightly bitter taste. Rodriguez also failed to win either of his final two starts. He ends the regular season 3-7 with a 4.71 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 100 strikeouts in 107.0 innings.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Slated to start Game 2 of ALDS

Kluber will start Game 2 of the ALDS on Friday.

He still needs to get through a bullpen session Sunday, but it sounds like there's little-to-no real doubt about Kluber's availability for the Division Series. Trevor Bauer, whom the team thinks is better suited to handle a possible Game 4 assignment on short rest, will start the series opener on Thursday.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Ready for bullpen session

Kluber (quad) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

A mild quad strain cut short what was a Cy Young-caliber 2016 regular season for Kluber, but he appears to be progressing as expected. He played catch on flat ground Friday at 150 feet, and if he makes it through an extended bullpen unscathed, Kluber would be on track to start Game 1 or 2 of the ALDS on Thursday or Friday.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Walks five but still wins vs. A's

Walker walked a season-high five but allowed only one run on two hits with three strikeouts in six innings Friday to beat the A's, 5-1.

Walker fought control issues most of the night, throwing 113 pitches (69 strikes), but at least did a good job to strand runners. When he actually threw strikes, he was hard to touch, making just one mistake that resulted in a solo home run in his final inning. More was expected from Walker this season than eight wins and a 4.22 ERA. At one point, he was demoted to Triple-A with the team questioning his competitiveness. That, and a midseason foot injury, limited him to 134.1 innings, yet he still gave up 27 homers. In 25 outings, he recorded just nine quality starts. A late-season change with his mechanics seemed to help, though the results were hit-or-miss in his last five starts, as Friday's season finale can attest.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Astros' Joe Musgrove: Will not start Sunday

Musgrove will not start Sunday against the Angels, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Mike Fiers and Brady Rodgers are the candidates to start the 2016 finale for Houston, meaning Musgrove is presumably done for the year. Musgrove saw mixed results during his first run in the majors but finished strong, posting a 2.55 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB over his final four starts. Look for him to compete for a rotation spot in spring training.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Scheduled to start Saturday

Severino will start Saturday against the Orioles, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

With Masahiro Tanaka (forearm) shut down, Severino will be afforded one final starting opportunity before the end of the 2016 campaign. Severino was on a 50-pitch limit in his last start Monday but he only threw 34 pitches before being ejected from the game. He figures to be on a limited pitch count again Saturday.
