  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Astros' Joe Musgrove: Seven innings of one-run ball Sunday

Musgrove (5-4) allowed just one run on seven hits while striking out four and walking none across seven strong innings in Sunday's win over the Angels.

Musgrove allowed four extra-base hits Sunday, but he did well to scatter the baserunners against and refrained from walking a batter for the first time in over a month. He's acquitted himself quite well as a rookie, but Musgrave has been especially effective at home, where he now has a 1.75 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 36 innings. He will make his final start of the season Saturday on the road versus this same Angels club.

  • Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Lasts just three innings Sunday

Odorizzi (9-6) lasted only three innings Sunday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three, but came away with a no-decision in a 10-inning loss to the Red Sox.

He threw a whopping 84 pitches in his three innings before being relieved by Justin Marks. It's just the third time in his last 10 trips to the mound that Odorizzi hasn't been able to supply the Rays with a quality start, and he's posted a solid 3.52 ERA and 43:19 K:BB in 56.1 innings over that stretch. He'll get one more shot at win No. 10, but it won't come easily, as he'll face the Rangers in Arlington on Saturday.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Shuts down Indians on Sunday

Rodon (8-10) struck out 11 over the course of eight scoreless innings in Sunday's win over the Indians. He allowed just two hits and three walks.

The second-year hurler dominated an Indians squad that would have clinched the AL Central with a win. He tied career highs in innings and strikeouts while ending a brutal two-game stretch during which he had allowed 12 runs over nine innings. Rodon has been woefully inconsistent in his sophomore season, but his pedigree and the promise he's flashed in starts like this one will likely keep his draft price somewhat inflated in 2017.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Strikeout master in Sunday's win

Rodriguez struck out 13 batters over 5.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits and two walks, in a 3-2 extra-inning win over the Rays on Sunday.

He also helped set a new major league record, as Rodriguez and reliever Heath Hembree combined to strike out 11 straight batters, breaking the mark of 10 straight set by Tom Seaver in 1970. There have been a few hiccups in the second half of the season, but the lefty no longer resembles the lost pitcher we saw prior to the All-Star break. In 13 starts since returning to Boston, he has a 3.10 ERA with 70 strikeouts and 23 walks over 72.2 innings. As attention turns toward the postseason, it looks like Rodriguez has pitched himself into Boston's rotation plans, probably as the third starter behind Rick Porcello and David Price. He's in line to get one more start in the regular season, Saturday at home against Toronto.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matt Boyd: Gets the hook after failing to retire a single batter

Boyd was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Royals without retiring a batter. He faced five batters and gave up two singles, a double, a triple and a home run, and was charged with four runs on five hits.

Boyd would love to hit rewind and start Sunday all over again. It was a far cry from his mastery five days ago when he allowed just a single run on three hits over eight innings, striking out seven and walking just one.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Strikes out seven in win at Twins

Walker allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks in 5.1 innings Sunday in a win at the Twins. He struck out seven.

Walker struggled with his command early but settled down a bit as he went on. He gave up two doubles and a home run, throwing 96 pitches (60 strikes). He was finally lifted in the sixth inning after allowing another run. Walker is obviously still working out the kinks with his new mechanics.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Will start Monday

Severino will start Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Severino tossed two innings of relief Thursday against the Rays and hasn't started a game since Aug. 14, so don't be surprised if he's held some sort of pitch count for Monday's outing. The youngster has been sensational since converting to a relief role, but his 8.58 ERA over nine starts this season make him an untrustworthy streaming option against the powerful Blue Jays offense.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Strikes out 11 over 8.2 innings against Diamondbacks

Miley (9-13) threw his longest outing since April, pitching 8.2 innings and allowing just one run on seven hits. He also struck out 11 and walked none in the victory against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

The left-hander didn't give up a run in his previous outing either, but taking that out of account, this near complete-game performance came out of nowhere. Before Saturday, Miley was 1-5 with a 7.55 ERA since coming over to Baltimore from Seattle at the trade deadline. He also had just seven strikeouts in his previous 10.1 frames. Miley is scheduled to pitch again next Saturday against the Yankees.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

White Sox's Jose Quintana: Collects 13th win of season against Cleveland

Quintana (13-11) tossed six innings of one run ball while walking three and striking out two, and was the winning pitcher in Saturday's 8-1 victory over Cleveland.

The left-hander was able to settle in for his second win against the Indians in the past 11 days as he pitched out of two tough spots early -- giving up just one run -- while logging 53 pitches and loading the bases twice in the first two innings. With perhaps one more start in his fifth-year campaign, Quintana is on track to post his lowest ERA as it currently sits at 3.21 in 202 innings.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Rangers' Yu Darvish: Gets revenge on A's with seven scoreless frames Saturday

Darvish (6-5) fired seven innings of scoreless, two-hit ball in Saturday's 5-0 victory over the A's. He walked one and struck out nine.

Darvish looked like a completely different pitcher than the one the A's had battered for seven runs on seven hits and four walks last Saturday. He displayed impeccable control, getting 67 of his 99 pitches into the strike zone and inducing a whopping 18 swinging strikes. The 30-year-old has quality starts in two of his last three trips to the mound and will try to finish the regular season in winning form against the Rays next Friday.
