Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Practically unhittable in Saturday no-decision
Stroman turned in a stellar performance in a no-decision against the Yankees on Saturday, firing seven scoreless innings and striking out five. He walked three and only allowed one hit.
The right-hander was locked in a pitcher's duel with veteran CC Sabathia through seven frames, neutralizing the Yankees lineup to the same degree that the veteran lefty managed against the Blue Jays. Stroman has actually dropped four straight decisions, but has been the victim of some hard luck, as he's now posted quality starts in three straight appearances and four out of his last five overall. He'll have one more chance for his second career double-digit-win season when he takes on the Orioles next Thursday.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Cleared to start Tuesday
Gausman (ribs) will make his next start Tuesday against the Blue Jays, Rich Dubroff of CSN Mid Atlantic reports.
The Orioles announced earlier Saturday that Gausman had moved past his intercostal injury, and he's now penciled in to start Tuesday's outing, meaning Chris Tillman will take the hill Wednesday. Gausman has put together a strong campaign overall, but struggled in his last outing Tuesday against the Red Sox, allowing 10 hits and five earned runs across 6.1 innings.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Good to go for next start
Gausman (intercostal) said Saturday that he feels fine and ready to make his next start, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.
The Orioles were forced to push Gausman back this week due to an intercostal injury, but he made it through his bullpen session Saturday without discomfort. While Gausman has deemed himself good to go for his next outing, the Orioles have yet to formally announce whether he will start Tuesday or Wednesday.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Athletics' Sonny Gray: Throws to live hitters
Gray (forearm) threw to live hitters Saturday and said it went "great," Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Teammate Matt Olson stepped in against Gray and said the right-hander looked just the same as he did in spring training and that Gray's slider was particularly nasty. It sounds like Gray will lobby to pitch in a game during the season's final week, but it's not clear if the team will let him. Gray has been on the DL since early August with inflammation and a strain in his forearm.

Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Twins' Kyle Gibson: Struggles with control
Gibson gave up two runs over five innings with four walks and two strikeouts in a no-decision against Seattle on Friday.
Gibson struggled with his control, but the bigger issue for the Twins was the bullpen that gave up eight runs after Gibson left. He will make his last start of the season Friday at Kansas City.
-
James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Throws gem against Twins
Paxton allowed one run on five hits and one walk Friday with seven strikeouts in seven innings in a win over the Twins.
With better defense, he might not have given up any runs. In his last three starts, Paxton has a 2.25 ERA with 19 strikeouts and two unintentional walks. Paxton's summer was interrupted by forearm tightness and then a broken fingernail, but since July 22, he's allowed no more than two runs in six of 10 starts. In Friday's game he easily pitched in the high 90s and had excellent command of his curveball. The bigger question is whether this latest run is a sign of Paxton finally harnessing his potential or merely a hot streak.

Lance McCullers SP | MIL
Astros' Lance McCullers: Feels good following bullpen session
Manager A.J. Hinch said McCullers (elbow) felt good Friday after throwing his first bullpen session Thursday, Jordan Ray of MLB.com reports.
This is encouraging news but time is running out for McCullers to pitch again during the regular season. At this point, it seems highly unlikely that he would make a start before the end of the regular season, but the team could always expedite McCullers' return by preparing him for a bullpen role. Regardless, McCullers' progress should help ease any long-term fears heading into the winter.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Orioles' Wade Miley: Set to start Saturday vs. D-Backs
Miley (back) will start Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks, MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli reports.
It was unclear earlier in the week if Miley would be able to make a start before leaving the team to be with his expecting wife, but he will indeed take the ball Saturday and then head off to be with his family for a couple days. Part of the reason the Orioles rolled with Miley is that Kevin Gausman (intercostal) needed some extra rest. Miley was strong through four innings (one hit, zero runs) agains the Rays in his last start before leaving with the back issue, but he wasn't asked to turn that lineup over two full times, let alone three times. He remains a risky option Saturday.

Mike Clevinger RP | PIT
Indians' Mike Clevinger: Pitches five frames in no-decision
Clevinger gave up two runs on four hits over five innings Thursday against the Royals. He struck out four and walked two.
Well, considering he pitched a combined 9.2 innings in his prior three outings, this is a win of sorts for Clevinger. It doesn't do much of anything to increase his nearly nonexistent fantasy appeal, though.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Navigates through five scoreless frames in win
Snell (6-8) shut the Yankees out over five innings in Thursday's win, working around five hits and three walks while striking out six.
This outing was pretty much a microcosm of Snell's season -- the rookie has given up a lot of baserunners and offered precious little in the way of longevity, but has also done well to limit the damage against him, posting a 3.65 ERA in spite of a 1.64 WHIP. Those 94 strikeouts in 86.1 innings reinforce Snell's top-end potential, but he needs to cut down on his walks and become more efficient in general to sustain this success over the long haul. He'll wrap up his season against the White Sox on Wednesday.
