Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Strikes out nine in Sunday's win
Snell (3-4) struck out nine Yankees over 5.1 innings Sunday while allowing two runs on five hits and three walks in a 5-3 win.
He lasted just long enough to get credit for the victory, but it was the first time in four starts that Snell hadn't at least completed the sixth innings. The rookie put together a very impressive month of July, posting a 2.76 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB in 29.1 innings over five starts, and he'll look to keep that momentum going Friday when the Rays host the strikeout-prone Twins.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: To start Monday for Twins
Berrios will take the hill for the Twins on Monday against the Indians, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
It was announced Sunday that Berrios would be recalled for the upcoming four-game series in Cleveland, but the team hadn't disclosed when he would make his start. That's now been taken care of, however, as Berrios will take the rotation spot of Tyler Duffey, who will be moved to the bullpen. The 22-year-old right-hander will look to put a rocky start to his Major League career behind him by building momentum during the season's final two months.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Athletics' Rich Hill: On tap for Friday start
Hill (hand) is tentatively slated to make his next start Friday against the Cubs, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The Athletics' rotation plans could be a moot point by Monday, as Hill, who has been dealing with a blister on his pitching hand since the All-Star break, is a top trade target for several contending clubs. Hill has thrown all of five pitches in the second half, denying interested parties opportunities to scout him, but with the Athletics clearly indicating that he's on the mend, perhaps a deal could still be reached. As an over-30 player on an expiring contract, Hill has little value to the non-contending A's, so the team may even be willing to deal the veteran hurler at a discount. Should he remain in Oakland after the deadline, Hill would toss a bullpen session Tuesday as a final hurdle before getting cleared to start Friday.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: Promotion confirmed, next start TBD
Twins manager Paul Molitor confirmed Sunday that Berrios would be recalled from Triple-A Rochester and join Minnesota for their series that begins Monday in Cleveland, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
The Twins have yet to announce their rotation plans for the coming week, but Berrios would be a logical replacement for the struggling Tyler Duffey for Monday's series opener, as the 22-year-old would already be on his normal rest. Berrios was tacked for 17 earned runs in 15 innings during his four-start stint with the Twins earlier this season, but he was one of the most dominant arms in the high minors this season, turning in a 2.44 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 111:35 K:BB ratio across 103.1 innings at Triple-A. Expect better results during Berrios' second crack at the big leagues.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Rays' Alex Cobb: Needed time off to adjust mechanics
Cobb (elbow), who made a successful return to game action Friday by firing two scoreless innings for High-A Charlotte, says he needed the recent time off to work on his mechanics, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The rehabbing right-hander took seven days off from live action recently to hone the finer points of his delivery, and the extra work appeared to pay off Friday. Cobb explains that his unorthodox delivery necessitated the extra side work to find his arm slot after what was a 14-month layoff following Tommy John surgery. "The reason I took a step back was because I needed to make some major adjustments," Cobb said. "I figured those out, thankfully, now there are some minor adjustments to be made to become more repeatable."

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Returns from rehab assignment
Rodon (wrist) was activated from the 15-day DL and is set to start Sunday against the Twins.
Rodon allowed three runs (two earned) across 3.2 innings in his rehab start at Triple-A Charlotte earlier this week, showing no signs of any lingering discomfort with the wrist. He shouldn't face any pitch limits during Sunday's turn against the Twins, a team he's faced twice this season and owns a 3.09 ERA against.

Tommy Milone SP | SEA
Twins' Tommy Milone: Allows four runs on nine hits in no-decision
Milone allowed four runs on nine hits, struck out three and walked none over 5.1 in a no-decision against the White Sox on Saturday.
The left-hander was cruising, retiring 10 in a row, but he then gave up runs in three consecutive innings (the fourth, fifth and sixth), which included a solo homer in the sixth to extend the White Sox lead to three. Fortunately, the Twins offense bailed him out, so he took a no-decision. Milone is 3-3 with a 5.13 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 39 strikeouts in 59.2 innings this season. His next start will be Thursday versus the Indians.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: Will be called up next week
Berrios will be called up by the Twins from Triple-A before Monday's game, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
It's not immediately clear where Berrios will be slotted into the rotation, but he is expected to join the big league squad Monday and would be pitching on normal rest if he starts that day, so it seems likely he will get the ball then instead of Monday's currently scheduled starter, Tyler Duffey. Berrios posted a 10.20 ERA in a four-game run with the Twins earlier this season, but he remains one of the game's top pitching prospects and earned his way back to the majors by giving up just nine earned runs over his last eight minor-league starts.

Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Rays' Drew Smyly: Notches only third victory of season Saturday
Smyly (3-11) gave up two earned runs on four hits and a walk over six innings in Saturday's 6-3 victory over the Yankees. He struck out six.
The 27-year-old southpaw, who's struggled through the worst season of his career, now has two straight quality starts and may finally be figuring it out in 2016. Smyly has now given up only three earned runs over the 12 frames spanning that last pair of trips to the mound, and the victory Saturday was his first over his last eight decisions dating back to May 16 against the Blue Jays. He'll look to make it two in a row when he takes on the Royals next Thursday.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Yankees' Nathan Eovaldi: Takes loss despite quality start Saturday
Eovaldi (9-7) gave up three earned runs on three hits and two walks over six innings in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Rays. He struck out four.
He was touched up for a long ball for the first time in six appearances, giving up a solo homer to Brad Miller in the first and a two-run blast to Curt Casali in the third. Eovalidi also turned in his second straight quality start, and despite the loss Saturday, enjoyed a solid July. It was a strong bounce-back month for the 26-year-old right-hander, after a June in which he generated an 0-3 record and 8.65 ERA. He'll look to extend his recent success into August when he takes on the Mets next Thursday.
