Henderson Alvarez SP | WAS
Athletics' Henderson Alvarez: Saturday could mark final rehab start
Alvarez (shoulder) will pitch five or six innings in his rehab start Saturday for Triple-A Nashville and he could potentially join the A's rotation next week, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
It has been a long road back from a shoulder injury for Alvarez, who gave up three runs on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 3.1 innings for High-A Stockton on Monday. Alvarez has not been a quality big league starter since 2014, and even then he was only missing bats at a 14.4 percent clip. If everything goes well Saturday he would be in line to jump into the A's rotation next Friday in Anaheim, replacing Zach Neal.

Taijuan Walker SP | LAA
Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Will make scheduled start Sunday
Walker (foot) will make his scheduled start Sunday against the Red Sox, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
The club initially feared the injury was related to the Achilles tendon, but it appears Walker was able to avoid anything overly serious. The ailment was ultimately found to be related to a tendon in the arch of his foot so it's always possible something acts up in the remainder of the week, but for now it appears he'll be good to go Sunday.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Yankees' Nathan Eovaldi: Surrenders six in loss
Eovaldi (6-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs over four innings against the Rockies.
The struggles continue for Eovaldi, as he's now given up at least five fives and eight hits in three straight outings. The long ball has been an issue during this recent stretch, with the 26-year-old yielding five home runs in his last three starts. He'll look to right the ship once again in his next start Sunday against the Twins.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Rangers' Martin Perez: Picks up sixth win of the season Tuesday
Perez (6-4) allowed four runs on nine hits while striking out two over seven innings to earn the win Tuesday at the Athletics.
Perez was staked to a six-run lead in the third inning, and held the Athletics to one run before allowing three runs in the sixth inning, but the run support he received was more than enough to earn him a victory. Despite picking up the win, he broke a string of four straight quality starts, though he still boasts a 3.38 ERA. He'll make his next start Sunday in St. Louis.

Vance Worley SP | NYM
Orioles' Vance Worley: Should see minimum time on DL
Worley (groin) should be ready to rejoin the Orioles as soon as his 15 days on the DL are up, MASN Sports reports.
Worley has shown he can be reliable as the long reliever for the Orioles. He last appeared Saturday, allowing two runs in 4.1 innings with five strikeouts. The timetable should see Worley activated by the end of June.

Taijuan Walker SP | LAA
Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Does not have Achilles injury, hopes to make next start
Walker's injury is not to his Achilles, but rather to a tendon in the arch of his foot, and he hopes to make his next start Sunday against the Red Sox, the Tacoma News Tribune's Bob Dutton reports.
He left Tuesday's game in the fourth inning after suffering the injury, and the fact that the team is hopeful he will not have to be skipped in the rotation is encouraging. It's also encouraging that it was not an Achilles injury. Walker was examined by a specialist at the park Tuesday, and the exact injury is posterior tibial tendinitis. Continue to monitor the situation for updates on his status for Sunday in the coming days.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Ejected from Tuesday's game
Odorizzi was ejected from Tuesday's game in the sixth inning for arguing balls and strikes.
He didn't like the ball-four call on his fourth walk of the night, and Odorizzi let umpire Jerry Meals know it. Odorizzi was at 116 pitches, his second-highest total of the season, and was probably done anyway. The right-hander gave up five runs on nine hits while striking out nine over 5.2 innings prior to his ejection.

Taijuan Walker SP | LAA
Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Aggravates Achilles' tendon
Walker left Tuesday's game in the fourth inning with an aggravated right Achilles' tendon, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
The right-hander's velocity dipped into the low-90s in the fourth inning and he was lifted after his 65th pitch of the night. There is no arm or shoulder injury to report, but Walker's status for his next start and the next several turns probably won't be known until he undergoes further testing. Edwin Diaz replaced Walker with one out in the fourth.

Taijuan Walker SP | LAA
Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Early exit Tuesday
Walker left Tuesday's game in the fourth inning with an apparent injury, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
It wasn't obvious what was ailing Walker, but his velocity was down some in the fourth inning, and he left with one out in the frame following a brief visit from the trainer. Edwin Diaz took over for Walker on the mound.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Hoping to start pitching deeper into games
Odorizzi, who's not gone more than five innings in six of his 13 starts, is hoping to begin pitching deeper into games by avoiding long innings, the Tampa Bay Times reports. "It's just one inning that's usually causing a lot of high pitches, so if I can get one inning figured out I think everything will line up a whole lot better," Odorizzi, who faces the Mariners [Tuesday], said. "I still feel really good and confident with the stuff I've been putting out there."
The 26-year-old's numbers-- a 3-3 record, 3.47 ERA, and 1.16 WHIP -- are solid overall, but long innings have frequently served to boost his pitch count. Odorizzi needed 41 pitches to escape the second inning against the D-backs in his most recent start, and a four-inning, 97-pitch outing versus the A's on May 13 was derailed early by a Billy Burns 14-pitch at-bat in the opening frame. Despite the struggles, the right-hander is confident he can get things corrected. "Just try to keep getting early outs or if I get two quick ones try to get that third one quick, too, instead of maybe messing around with a few pitches if I'm ahead and then trying to make that perfect pitch once, twice and it's 2-2 and anything kind of goes from there," he said. "Just stay in attack mode."
