  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Corey Kluber mows down 10 batters in no-decision

Indians starter Corey Kluber tied a career high with 10 strikeouts Sunday at home against the Detroit Tigers. Unfortunately, his bullpen couldn't hold his lead and he had to settle for a no-decision on the start.

The Cleveland starting pitcher remained at 6-5 on the season with a 4.23 ERA as he allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks over 6 1/3 innings in a quality start. He was hurt in the first inning by a Miguel Cabrera solo homer but was able to regroup after that and mow down the Detroit batters. He threw 109 pitches in the game.

The 27-year-old Kluber has won three of his last five decisions spanning six starts, but rebounded nicely Sunday after he'd given up 10 runs over his last two outings spanning 10 innings. Over his last 11 outings, he has a 3.74 ERA to go along with 66 strikeouts and just 13 walks over 65 innings. Kluber was fantastic Sunday and will look to keep rolling when he next starts Friday against Kansas City.

  • Jason Hammel SP | TEX

Jason Hammel keeps O's in game

Orioles starter Jason Hammel kept Baltimore in the game through his outing Sunday in New York against the Yankees. Hammel did not impress with his command and left the game after 102 pitches over just five innings in the no-decision.

Hammel was on the hook for the loss until Adam Jones' two-run homer off Mariano Rivera in the ninth. The Baltimore starter allowed one run on six hits and two walks over five frames with four strikeouts. His ERA is now at 5.03 on the year.

Hammel picked up wins in seven of his first 11 starts and was 7-2 on May 27. Unfortunately, he's gone 0-3 with four no-decisions since. He will look to earn that elusive win with his next outing Friday against Toronto.

  • Carlos Carrasco optioned to Columbus

The Indians designated starter Carlos Carrasco for assignment Sunday after his outing Saturday against the Tigers, MLB.com reports. He's been removed from the 25-man roster, but not the 40-man, and he'll return to Triple-A Columbus once he clears waivers.

The starter has been up and down from the minors as he's been needed by manager Terry Francona. Unfortunately, he hasn't given the Indians' skipper what he's been looking for.

Carrasco has gone 0-4 over six starts with an ugly 9.10 ERA. The opposition is hitting .367 off him. He may come back up later for a start, but he's currently in the rotation at Triple-A.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

    Dallas Keuchel settles for no-decision

Astros starter Dallas Keuchel turned in a solid outing but did not factor in the decision Saturday night against the Rangers. The left-hander permitted two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four over five innings in a 9-5 victory.

Keuchel has allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last seven starts. He is scheduled to make his next start Saturday at Tampa Bay. He is 1-2 with a 3.03 ERA in six appearances (four starts) away from home.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Yu Darvish hit hard vs. Astros

Rangers starting pitcher Yu Darvish endured another shaky outing as he suffered his fourth loss of the season Saturday night against the Astros.

Darvish (8-4) gave up a two-run home run to Brandon Barnes in the fourth and a two-run single to Marc Krauss in the fifth. The right-hander permitted five runs on six hits and four walks while striking out six over six innings in a 9-5 loss.

Darvish has allowed 12 earned runs over his last four starts (24 innings). He is scheduled to make his next start Thursday at Baltimore. He is 3-1 with a 2.83 ERA in seven starts away from home.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Chris Sale with quality start in losing effort

White Sox starter Chris Sale (5-8) tossed a quality start but suffered his eighth loss of the season thanks to poor offensive support Saturday night against the Rays. The left-hander yielded three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and one walk while striking out nine over seven innings in a 3-0 defeat.

Sale has allowed three runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. He is scheduled to make his next start Thursday at Detroit. He went 0-3 with a 6.00 ERA in three starts against the Tigers last season.

  • Carlos Carrasco roughed up vs. Tigers

Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco endured a rough outing as he suffered his fourth loss of the season Saturday night against the Tigers.

Carrasco (0-4) lasted just 3 1/3 innings as he surrendered homers to Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder. The right-hander yielded seven runs -- six earned -- on 10 hits and one walk while striking out two in a 9-4 defeat.

Carrasco has allowed 12 earned runs over his last nine innings pitched. He is scheduled to make his next start Thursday at home against Toronto.

  • Justin Masterson roughed up vs. Tigers

Indians starter Justin Masterson (10-7), who tossed a complete-game shutout in his previous outing, took a step back as he suffered his seventh loss of the season Friday night against the Tigers. The right-hander was shelled for six runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out six over 4 2/3 innings in a 7-0 defeat.

Masterson has allowed 12 runs combined over his last three starts (18 1/3 innings). He is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday at home against Toronto. He allowed one run on three hits over six innings pitched in his previous meeting against the Blue Jays on April 2.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Alex Cobb completes first bullpen session

Rays starter Alex Cobb threw a 29-pitch bullpen session Friday for the first time since getting struck in the head with a line drive, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Cobb has passed the first set of his concussion exams but is still dealing with symptoms from vertigo. He still needs to pass MLB's concussion-related tests before he receives clearance to play. The Rays have not established a timetable for his return.

"I don't think we're extremely close, but we're moving a lot faster than expected," Cobb said. "Considering what happened, if you would ask me the next day I'd be extremely excited to be 19 days or so back on the mound. It's a great feeling to be able to be back out here, kind of be one step closer to where I want to be and getting into games."

  • Indians recall Carlos Carrasco

The Indians officially have recalled starter Carlos Carrasco from Triple-A Columbus to start Saturday against the Tigers, according to The Associated Press.

Carrasco was optioned back to Triple-A following his start last Friday. He has allowed nine runs over his last 10 1/3 innings and owns a 8.17 ERA over five starts. The right-hander is 0-2 with a 6.32 ERA in three starts at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
