  • Jake Odorizzi coming back to the bigs

The Rays are expected to call up right-hander Jake Odorizzi Tuesday, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Though Odorizzi made two starts for the Rays earlier this season, allowing nine earned runs in nine innings, he would likely work in relief this time around with Kyle Farnsworth nursing a sore elbow.

Odorizzi has been exclusively a starter at Triple-A Durham this year, going 5-1 with a 3.90 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 10 starts.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

    Dallas Keuchel solid in defeat

Astros starter Dallas Keuchel suffered the loss Monday night in Seattle, proving no match for Hisashi Iwakuma.

Keuchel surrendered two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits and no walks over six innings. The earned run came on a fourth-inning homer by Raul Ibanez. Keuchel struck out six and dropped to 3-3 with a 4.37 ERA.

Keuchel is 2-1 in his last three outings with four runs allowed over a span of 19 innings with 13 Ks. His next start comes Sunday against the White Sox.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

    Alex Cobb gets no-decision

Rays starter Alex Cobb followed Matt Moore's lead Monday at home against the Red Sox. After Moore was blasted early en route to a loss against the Orioles Sunday, Cobb nearly did the same thing against Boston.

Cobb surrendered six runs in the first inning and lasted just four innings Monday. He was lucky to avoid taking the loss as the Rays came from behind to tie the score late in the game. His record remains at 6-2 on the year with a 2.95 ERA. Cobb didn't give up another run after Boston plated six against him in the first. He allowed seven hits and three walks in total with four strikeouts over 98 pitches.

Cobb has won his last three decisions and took a no-decision his last time out despite going 7 2/3 shutout innings. His ERA and WHIP remain excellent and he'll look to have a better start his next time out Saturday against Kansas City.

  • Carlos Carrasco to throw sim game to stay fresh

Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco, who is serving a seven-game suspension, is expected to throw a 2-3 inning simulated game Thursday, MLB.com reports. Carrasco is trying to stay fresh during his suspension.

  • Vance Worley SP | NYM

Vance Worley struggling since first Triple-A start

Twins starting pitcher Vance Worley had his worst outing Thursday for Triple-A Rochester since his demotion to the minors in late May. Worley lasted just three innings, allowing seven runs (two earned) on eight hits and one walk.

Worley, who threw a complete game shutout in his first Triple-A start May 27, is 1-2 with a 2.84 and .288 opponents' batting average in three starts for Rochester. Worley has allowed 11 runs (six earned) and 18 hits in his last two starts (10 innings). He has struck out 13 batters, walked six and surrendered two home runs in 19 innings.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Taijuan Walker pitching well despite lack of wins

Despite not allowing more than two earned runs in either of his first two June starts, Mariners starting pitcher prospect Taijuan Walker is 0-1 this month at Double-A Jackson. Walker does have a 2.19 ERA and .214 opponents' batting average, while striking out 14 batters in 12 1/3 innings through two June starts.

Jackson is 3-6 with a 2.52 ERA and .194 opponents' batting average in 12 starts. He has struck out 77 batters, walked 29 and allowed six home runs in 71 1/3 innings. Unfortunately, he's winless in his last six starts (0-4).

  • Justin Masterson loses second straight

Indians starter Justin Masterson, who had his scheduled start pushed back from Saturday to Sunday, took the mound in Detroit. He left with a defeat.

Masterson fell to 8-5 on the season as he's now lost two straight and three of his last four outings. He allowed four earned runs on six hits and three walks over seven innings Sunday against the Tigers. Don Kelly did the most damage with his three-run homer off Masterson in the sixth inning.

The Cleveland ace struck out four over 105 pitches and his ERA is at 3.68. He's given up 17 earned runs over his last four outings spanning 25 1/3 innings and needs to settle down for the Tribe. He'll get that chance when he next starts Saturday against Washington.

  • Carlos Carrasco starts suspension

Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco dropped his appeal of a suspension Sunday, MLB.com reports. Carrasco will begin serving the reduced seven-game suspension Sunday.

Carrasco was recalled to start Saturday against the Tigers and lasted just four innings with six runs and 10 hits allowed. He walked three batters and had one strikeout. There is no word when his next scheduled start would come. He will be eligible to pitch June 17 against the Royals.

  • Carlos Carrasco gives up six runs in return

Indians starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco, who was recalled to make Saturday's start, lasted just four innings against the Tigers, surrendering six earned runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out one.

Carrasco, who has given up a total of 13 earned runs in 7 2/3 innings (15.26 ERA) for the Indians, is appealing his eight-game suspension for throwing at Yankees third baseman Kevin Youkilis but is expected to drop the appeal now that Saturday's start is in the books. He could make his next start June 18 against the Royals.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

    Kevin Gausman surrenders seven runs

Orioles starting pitcher Kevin Gausman surrendered seven earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out six in 4 1/3 innings against the Rays Saturday to drop to 0-3. It was the second time in three starts that Gausman gave up seven earned runs, elevating his ERA to 8.84 in 19 1/3 innings.

Gausman may be a candidate to be optioned to the minors to work on honing his pitching. If he takes another turn for the Orioles, it'll come Thursday against the Red Sox at home.
