Houser logged a no-decision against the Mets on Monday, allowing three hits and issuing one walk while striking out six batters over six-plus innings.

The Mets appeared mystified against Houser throughout most of Monday's matchup, as they managed to put just two runners on base over the first six innings. The veteran right-hander bent a bit in the seventh, allowing the first two New York batters to reach base, and was subsequently pulled; however, Chicago's bullpen was able to strand both runners to keep Houser unscored upon through two starts covering 12 frames with the team. It's been an improbable beginning to Houser's White Sox tenure, as he hasn't finished with an ERA below 4.12 in the majors since 2021 and was stuck in the Rangers' minor-league system to begin this year until being released May 15. He's earned a continued spot in Chicago's rotation and is tentatively scheduled to face Baltimore his next time out.

Montero (2-1) worked five shutout innings in earning the victory during Monday's 3-1 win against the Giants. He surrendered just one hit and two walks while striking out three batters.

Montero worked his first scoreless outing of the season Monday, but turned things over to the bullpen after just 79 pitches, suggesting he still has some work to do to earn the full trust of the coaching staff. Regardless, it was a good bounce back outing for the 24-year-old, who had surrendered eight runs over his last two starts spanning nine total innings. The right-hander is now at a 4.54 ERA for the season.

Lorenzen (3-6) took the loss Monday against the Reds after allowing six runs on 11 hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out two.

Lorenzen established season worsts in runs, hits allowed and punchouts, with the 11 knocks even representing a career-worst mark. The veteran right-hander has struggled on the mound a bit this month, as he's logged a 5.34 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over his last five starts, but he does hold a more encouraging 24:6 K:BB across his last 28.2 innings. Lorenzen will be trying to find a groove in his next scheduled outing, but he'll have his work cut out at home versus the first-place Tigers this weekend.

DeGrom (4-2) took the loss Monday against the Blue Jays after allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in 5.1 innings. He failed to record a strikeout.

It was notably the first time in deGrom's illustrious career that he was unable to register a single punchout, as he whiffed just three Monday. Even so, it was the star right-hander's eighth consecutive start throwing at least five innings while yielding two runs or fewer, and he boasts a 1.85 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 49:8 K:BB covering his last 48.2 frames. Manager Bruce Bochy noted after the game that deGrom was pulled after 81 pitches as a precaution after racking up high pitch counts in his last two starts, per Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com. Next up for deGrom is a tough matchup at home versus the Cardinals, which is set to come this weekend.

Gil (lat) could throw off a mound Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Skipper Aaron Boone noted that Gil has been feeling strong in his rehab, indicating that the right-hander's throwing program is continuing to progress in the right direction. If all goes well during the week, the club may clear Gil to throw off a mound at Dodger Stadium, per Hoch.

Gausman (5-4) recorded the win Monday against the Rangers after allowing one run on five hits and no walks in eight innings. He struck out six.

On the heels of tossing seven shutout innings his last time out, Gausman matched a season high in innings pitched Monday in another dominant outing. The veteran right-hander whiffed 15 and now hasn't issued a walk in any of his last four starts, and he sports a 2.81 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and a remarkable 33:1 K:BB over his last 32 innings (five starts). Gausman will be looking to keep the good times rolling in his next appearance, which is slated to come this weekend at home versus the Athletics.

Cannon (back) will start Tuesday's game against the Mets, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Cannon had previously been in line to make his ninth start of the season this past Sunday against the Rangers, but he was scratched due to lower-back tightness. The right-hander has apparently responded well to a couple extra days of recovery and will now make his next turn through the rotation Tuesday. Cannon is enjoying an impressive month so far, posting a 2.74 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with a 15:0 K:BB across 23 innings (four starts).

Morton (1-7) earned the win Monday against the Cardinals, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Not only did the veteran right-hander secure his first win, but he also collected his first quality start with this vintage 86-pitch performance. The lone blemish on Morton's outing was a 368-foot, two-run homer off the bat of Pedro Pages in the fifth inning. After pitching to a ghastly 9.38 ERA across his first 31.2 frames, Morton has been better of late, firing a 2.35 ERA and 17:4 K:BB over his last 15.1 innings. The 41-year-old receives a soft matchup for his next start, which currently lines up to be at home against the White Sox this weekend.

Manoah (elbow) has built up to 40 pitches during regular twice-a-week bullpen sessions as he recovers from elbow surgery, Mitch Bannon of the Athletic reports.

The Blue Jays haven't provided a timeline for the right-hander to begin a rehab assignment, but the team still appears to be targeting an early August return for Manoah after he underwent a hybrid internal brace procedure last June. In the meantime, the 27-year-old will continue with his throwing program and focus on keeping his mechanics in sync and regaining a feel for his pitches. Through five starts in 2024 before being shut down, Manoah posted a 3.70 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB in 24.1 innings, and he could provide a late-season boost to a Blue Jays rotation that's struggled to find a reliable fifth starter this season.

Bieber (elbow) will make his first rehab start Saturday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, SI.com reports.

Bieber, who underwent Tommy John surgery April 12, 2024, has been throwing to hitters in Arizona since the start of May and is now ready to begin his rehab assignment. The veteran right-hander will need a lengthy ramp-up period, and it's possible his rehab will move up to a full-season affiliate after Saturday's outing.
